Vape Gear - Vaporfi Pulse ReviewVaporfi Pulse Starter Kit: $119.99

For: New Vapers

VaporZone recently underwent a name change to Vaporfi, but when it comes to their vape gear and eliquid line it’s the same company.

A couple of weeks ago I was looking at our list of upcoming reviews and I noticed a cool looking vaporizer that offered plenty of features, good looks, and a very different circular charger. I glanced at the specs and decided that it would be my next project to review. And after 2 weeks with it I have to say that for a straight up 3.7v output device it’s a very nice vaporizer indeed… for new or mainstream vapers.

Definitely aimed at the mainstream vaper, the Vaporfi Pulse Starter Kit is priced right (It comes with 2 batteries and two clearomizers, plus the other charging options, making the price tag more in line with other devices with similar features). It is a step up for new and intermediate vapers looking to advance their vape experience without a learning curve, or getting too far over their head with variable voltage/wattage options.

With a modern design, a  “plate” like charger, and an optimized clearomizers (with replaceable heads) designed for the device, mainstream vapers will no doubt enjoy the vape, and the simplicity it offers.

Simple Yet Modern

Clearomizers – Coils

Atomizer_pulse_premium_5The clearomizers that come with the Pulse hold a good amount of eLiquid, 2.5ML (more than an Aspire Nautilus Mini). To fill them it’s a matter of unscrewing the drip tip (mouthpiece) and pouring the ejuice in until it reaches the fill mark.

Screw the mouthpiece back on, attach the clearomizer to the battery, let it sit for about 5 minutes or so and you’re ready to go. Replacing the coil head works pretty much the same way, remove the mouthpiece, unscrew the coil head and replace with a new one.

In my testing phase I managed to get about a week worth of vaping (spread over 2 weeks) before I felt I needed to replace it. That’s not bad at all for a long wick coil. I’ve always enjoyed the flavor fidelity of long wick coils and using it reminded me of the days when that’s all I used. Flavor and vapor was true and strong.

Battery Operation on the VaporFi Pulse

The 3.7v (unregulated) batteries use a 5-click on/off operation. Once on the batteries LED’s with flash 3 times indicating the battery is functioning and ready to go. A 10-second draw feature interrupts the power flow if you attempt to take a drag from the clearomizer of more than 10 seconds.

The Vaporfi Pulse battery also uses a hibernating feature to maximize the life of each battery charge. Basically, the battery goes to sleep if you press and hold the firing button for 10 seconds. To reactivate it you just press the firing button for a second and it comes back to life.

This sleep feature is pretty cool, if you can remember to use it. As a long time vaper I kept forgetting to do it. Still, the 750mAh battery gave me a good 6, 7 hours of use.

Battery Indicator – the LED display at the bottom of the battery shows off a puff counter as well as a battery indicator. You tell with just a glance when the battery is nearing a recharge point.

Charging – There are a couple of ways to recharge the battery. First, you can use the circular charger. Attach the USB cable (included) to the circular charger and then place your battery in the center. No need to screw the battery in, all you have to do is drop it in and the charging starts immediately. When it begins to charge you’ll notice 3 flashes from the battery.

The circular battery charger is a smart charger and once the battery is fully charged it cuts off power to the battery to prevent overcharging. While the charger is charger it displays a red LED light, once it complete the red changes to blue. It took between 2 and 3 hours to recharge the batteries.

Puff Counter – The puff counter in the LED display is pretty basic. It counts from 0-999. To reset the counter just hold down the button for 15-20 seconds and it will reset to 000. However, in order to reset the counter you have to remove the clearomizer.

Safety – The final feature I’ll discuss before getting to my real world usage is a safety feature. The electronics in the battery monitors the internal temperature in the clearomizer and if it detects the temperature getting higher than it should be it sends a signal and shuts down the device. In all my 3 years of vaping I’ve never had that problem, but I suppose it better to have and not need it then to not have it and need it.

Real World Performance of the VaporFi Pulse

I think if I tried to tell you that I’ve adopted the Vaporfi Pulse as my “go to” vaporizer you wouldn’t believe me…nor should you. I’ve long since left behind single output devices in favor of variable voltage and wattage.

That said, a 3.7v singular output vaporizer is more than fine as a starting point, but the more experience you get under your vaping belt the more control over your vape you’ll want to have. For vapers just starting out, a modern singular output device is something I would recommend.CHARGER-CIRULAR

Mainstream Vapers and Simple Vaping

For millions of people that have taken up vaping a vaporizer need only is deliver a good vape. Mainstream vapers are people that enjoy vaping but don’t care at all for fine-tuning that are available in many other devices. The Vaporfi Pulse certainly fits that bill.

As long as the battery has a good charge and the coils in the clearomizer are in good shape the vape experience is actually very good. You won’t win any cloud-chasing contests with it but if you were interested in cloud chasing you wouldn’t use the Pulse anyway.

Having said that, even experienced vapers, vapers that have a lot of money invested in high-end gear, including sophisticated tanks and RBA’s sometimes want to nothing more than to grab a simple device and vape. The Pulse is good choice for times like that… if good looks and modern design are also important.

The Vaporfi Pulse is a well-built device that offers a nice vape for a single output device. The clearomizers perform well and are matched to the device to maximize the vape experience. The long wicks deliver excellent flavor and satisfying vapor production. While its operation and maintenance is simple, the performance is impressive for this class of vaporizer.

If you’re a one of the majority of vapers, vapers that don’t need VV/VW features and want something that provides a good vape at a good price then the Vaporfi Pulse is a good choice.
