The Uwell Valyrian II Starter Kit Review
When I came to work a couple weeks back, I saw the rather large box containing the new Uwell Valyrian II Starter Kit, and the first thought that came to me was “Oh thank God not another pod mod system!”. The Valyrian vape mod is a triple 18650 ‘Reuleaux’ type mod (though smaller than even the Reuleaux RX3 and throwing out a good 300 watts).
The Sub-Ohm tank, the Valyrian 2 tank, completes the starter kit, and together us vape hobbyists have a new cloud chucking, flavor brewing kit worth considering.
Valyrian II – The First High-End Vape Kit in Months
The Uwell Valyrian II 2 Starter Kit qualifies as a high-end vape kit. Below is our usual list of Specs and Contents, but it’s important to acknowledge that the chip inside the Valyrian II mod is capable of a full 5-300W wattage range, includes the ‘hardly ever used’ comprehensive temperature control options, a lot more to consider when the time comes.
The Valyrian II mod is well-constructed, tight-fitting, and designed with not only style in mind, but comfort as well. I enjoyed holding it, vaping with it, and swapping out batteries was quick and easy. Uwell did an excellent job creating a high-wattage vape mod to satisfy those of us that still enjoy huge clouds and spectacular flavor.

Uwell Valyrian II Replacement Coils
However, the majority of times someone purchases a starter kit is to use both parts of the kid; mod and tank. If that is the case here, and it should be, Uwell could have easily made the decision to shy away from 300W and stick to a more reasonable 200-220W. The ability to throw out 300 watts, and the necessity to use 3x 18650 batteries is wasted unless the buyer uses an atomizer that can handle such high levels of power.
The available coil replacements for the Valyrian 2 Sub-Ohm Tank reach no more than 120W, leaving the vape mod with 180W of power, well, powerless.

The Uwell Valyrian II 2 Sub-Ohm Tank
Last year we reviewed, and reviewed again, the original Uwell Valyrian tank and in these reviews, we spoke very highly of that magnificent tank. It’s flip-top refill system, the dual slotted airflow control, along with last year’s and this year’s coils can create heavily flavored clouds of vapor that pleased every one of us. So, what’s changed with V2?
Valyrian – Take Two
The Uwell Valyrian II 2 Sub-Ohm Tank is an upgraded version with some significant changes to its’ predecessor.
The most significant change is the loss of the 3 metal spirals pins, which made an honest difference in performance, but very few vapers took advantage of them.
Valyrian Sub-Ohm Take One
In one of our reviews of the original Valyrian we said: “What truly makes the Uwell Valyrian innovative is the adoption of. interchangeable airflow pins to integrate into the coil systems.”
When the owner of a new Uwell Valyrian opens the plastic tube to go through the package contents he or she will find 3 long Pins that fit down into the base of the tank and up through the coil system. Each Pin looks different and depending on the one the owner chooses to use, that pin changes the default vape to be more focused on cloud production, or flavor, and a stronger combination of the both.”
The first Valyrian Sub-Ohm used a single 0.15-ohm coil, and adjustments made to the vape experience were made from the pins. What happened in real life was users of this awesome tank found the pin that worked best (usually the default already installed pin) and ignored the others.
Interestingly (now), the original Valyrian Sub-Ohm had a juice capacity of 5ml (standard) and 8mL (extended glass).
Ch-Ch-Changes….
The Valyrian II sub-ohm now sports 6mL capacity, a Self-Cleaning and Pro-FOCS Flavor Tasting Technology, and uses the Uwell Valyrian II Coil Series with FeCrAI coil material.
Measuring in at 29mm diameter, the Uwell Valyrian II 2 Sub-Ohm Tank is constructed from lightly impact-resistant stainless steel and high-grade glass for durability.
Self-Cleaning and Flavor
Inside the chassis structure of the Valyrian II Sub-Ohm holds the self-cleaning Pro-FOCS Flavor Tasting Technology. These new features help burn off old e-liquid from its coils, allowing a new flavor of e-juice to shine through without left-over flavors.
The Pro-FOCS Flavor Tasting Technology recycles drawn-in air while you inhale. This is said to also play a part in enhancing the flavor of your e-juices.
Does it Work?
While I still adore, and use, the original Uwell Valyrian Sub-Ohm, (with the default pin), and the many boxes of 0.15-ohm replacement coils left over, when it comes right down to it there isn’t any noticeable difference in the actual vape. I found that surprising.
At first sight the old and new Valyrian look nearly identical, however, the original Valyrian was 25mm base width while the Valyrian II is 29mm. The height and width of the new body is shorter and stouter, slightly, than the original. Same flip-top fill system, same drip tip, same “Valyrian” look and feel. The real differences of the coils. (the knurling of the original is gone from the new one)
Three Coils Now
Instead of the single 0.15-ohm coil of the original, the new Valyrian II offers a total of four coils, all Mesh coils with different resistances.
- 15ohm QUAD Mesh Coil – rated for 100-120W
- 32ohm UN2 Single Meshed Coil – rated for 90-100W
- 14ohm UN2-2 Dual Meshed Coil – rated for 80-90W
- 16ohm UN2-3 Triple Meshed Coil – rated for 90-100W
Interestingly, the 0.32-ohm coil registers a resistance in the Valyrian II vape mod of 0.28-ohms. The official rating of 90-100W is a bit off for me, I found the right wattage to be 82W. 90W was a tad too warm, though flavorful as hell, and 100W was just uncomfortable.
Vaping with the Uwell Valyrian II 2 Starter Kit
I chose the stainless-steel and white edition of the kit, and I love it. There is a natural heft to the mod and tank, but that’s to be expected when a mod is carrying 3x 18650’s and the tank is filled with 6mL of High VG e-juice.
While I’m not shy about telling anyone that asks that I prefer a side positioned fire panel or button, the Valyrian II 2 vape mod has a nicely sized centered front fire button. Of course, when the mod itself is in the form of triangle the fire button feels completely natural on the front.
Following the traditional method of prepping a tank and new coil for vaping (couple of drops into the mesh coil itself, then filling with the top-fill holes), and waiting a good 3-4 minutes, I began with a 50W first hit.
At the lower end of wattage dial the flavor is very muted, like most good sub-ohms. The flavor began to appear at 70W and seemed to pop best at 82W. By all means the Valyrian II sub-ohm can take 90W and more, and in the morning, I have on occasion moved the wattage to 90-92W just to start the day with a thick and flavorful punch of vapor.
The Pro and Cons
Pro
- The Valyrian mod is the perfect size for a triple 18650
- The Valyrian II sub-ohm is as good as the first one, and easier to use.
- Coil Life is outstanding
- The Valyrian Mod has excellent battery life
- Mod and Tank fit without any gap
- Airflow control slide easily and accurately
- The Valyrian tank is a bit thirsty
Cons
- The current price for the starter kit is $100+
- Color options are limited (for now)
- At higher wattages the drip tip can get too warm
- Using the Valyrian Tank, the mod has too much power
- Coil Replacements come TWO to a pack ($11.95)
Spinfuel Recommendation and Score
I’ll be the first to tell you I really hate pod mod system and nicotine-salt e-liquids, so for the sole fact that the Uwell Valyrian Starter Kit is a true hobbyist, high wattage, cloud chucker and flavor chaser, I’m inclined to give a score of A+. But I won’t.
I can say that I’m loving this new addition to MY type of vaping. The mod feels great, the tank offers marvelous flavor, lots of clouds, and a nice selection of coils. As a starter kit, meaning a kit where the user uses the included tank, I do have to admit that 300W is a bit much considering. If you need or want 300W, the Valyrian II vape mod will do just fine.
Oh, who am I kidding. Yes, the $100+ price tag is on the high side, but damn, this starter kit from Uwell is well worth a score of a solid “A”
