Sigelei has always been a name that has demanded and received a certain amount of respect from advanced vapers. With good reason.
Sigelei products seem to last longer than most, and often times the mods themselves feel just a bit more sophisticated than the everyday vape gear. It is for that reason I found myself trying to reckon the very expensive, very capable Fuchai 200W TC box mod from Sigelei to the unbelievably low price of just $59.99 (at Vapor Authority).
Had I been asked beforehand I would have said the Fuchai sold for at least $99, and more like $149… certainly not under sixty bucks.
Sigelei’s reputation for high-quality vape gear aside, they are equally known for the feature-rich tech. The specs and feature list of Fuchai 200W is outstanding for such a moderate and affordable price tag, especially considering the inclusion of an accurate temperature control system.
Is the Sigelei Fuchai 200W TC box mod Sigelei’s tour de force, their Abbey Road, or Dark Side of the Moon? After more than 4 years and 300 mods, I can say that of all the Sigelei mods I’ve owned, nothing has performed as well as the Fuchai. So, perhaps this rock-solid Fuchai is the best Sigelei product to reach the market yet, but I have this feeling that Sigelei is far from introducing their ultimate masterpiece.
Physical Characteristics of the Sigelei Fuchai 200W TC
This marvelous, slightly weird shaped mod (I’ll talk more about that below) is constructed using a very high-grade zinc-aluminum alloy. Zinc is renowned for its incomparable resistance to corrosion and rust, and high-grade aluminum proves time after time to be very durable and very strong, but lightweight nonetheless. Together they create a fantastic component to use in vape gear by providing years free of wear and tear on the outside…
…with one big exception. Sigelei’s choice of metal for the skeleton is one thing, but then to paint the body with a rubberized paint (available in Red, Blue, and Black) being seen is fewer and fewer devices, will no doubt upset many potential buyers.
To accommodate users that might balk at the rubberized finish the Fuchai 200W TC comes wrapped in its white silicone sleeve. My personal feeling about the finish aren’t really important, but laying it all out there… I love it.
And as long as I make sure the silicon sleeve is on when I’m out of the office or house I feel completely confident that the finish will last years. It’s only when vapers are stuffing devices in their pockets, backpacks, or pocketbooks without protection that this kind of finish will sometimes fray along the edges.
The absence of weight caused by the zinc/aluminum skeleton allows the user to carry it around without strain. When adding two 18650 high-amp batteries to the mix it becomes a fairly heavier mod, so any measures taken to create a lighter mod is appreciated, for any dual battery device.
The Weird…Sigelei Fuchai 200W TC
The body of the Sigelei Fuchai 200W TC mod is certainly a clever design. Instead of a pure box/rectangular shaped mod, with straight lines running at 90 degree angles all around, the body of the Fuchai slants a bit in order to create the perfect fit in the palm of the average hand… but it also strikes me as a bit whimsical, a flare for a modern design of an age-old standard.
It took a little time to get used to the slanted sides of the mod, but once I did the Fuchai sort of molded to my palm. Plus, I love the attitude this sends out, “I’m different”. Very cool indeed.
The Fuchai’s clean, slanted lines and fine details not only deliver a level of elegance and fun that projects sophistication, refinement, and a sense of whimsy, it also makes using it a joy. I certainly didn’t expect this sort of weird design choice, but after spending a week with it, I think its inspired.
The chrome-covered stainless steel firing button and the plus/minus adjustment buttons add some sparkle, and its well-known GUI OLED screen augments the Fuchai 200W TC’s appearance.
The Guts of the Sigelei Fuchai
Going inside the device, the Sigelei Fuchai 200W TC delivers temperature sensing and limiting plus variable wattage technology up to 200-watts of output.
Riding the wattage wave from 5-watts to 200-watts in 0.1 increments begins slow enough to pick and choose the output level with ease, and with steady pressure to the plus adjustment button it will speed up to reach the maximum output in seconds.
Naturally, press and hold the minus button to reach back to the lower settings just as quickly.
The wide range of power allows for effectively any resistance of a coil you might want to use. The Fuchai 200W TC can fire down as low as 0.05 ohms.
Temperature Sensing Technology
The Sigelei Fuchai 200W TC box mod employs an effective and accurate temperature control system.
When used with coils made of nickel or titanium, the Fuchai allows adjustments from 212°F to 572°F (100°C – 300°C). Nickel and titanium coils allow for truly authentic flavors to come through, and to assist in the production of enormous amounts of vapor using High VG blends of eliquid.
TC allows the ramping up warmth of the vapor, and protecting the user from dry burns and scorched coils and liquid by reducing the output to the coils when it senses that there is not enough eliquid to keep the coils and cotton saturated. It will still fire, but not enough power will reach the coils to cause a dry hit of scorching hot air.
Sigelei’s TC system is every bit as effective as most others, though as I write this review the tech won’t work with Stainless Steel coils. Stainless Steel coils are becoming more popular with each passing day, so maybe we’ll see it soon.
Dual 18650’s
The Sigelei Fuchai 200W TC houses two external hi-amp (30a and above) 18650 batteries. Battery life seems to be very good, but it has only been a week, and I have used other mods during that time. Still, I sense no problems with battery life.
Where you will see marked differences in battery life is when using high-end sub-ohm tanks and ultra low coils. I’ve pushed through as much as 65-85w with some of the tanks I own with a High VG blend, and that will definitely affect battery life AND the amount of eliquid used.
Keep in mind that the dual batteries don’t really exist to extend battery life, but rather to reach that 200 watts of power.
Swapping out the batteries is very easy. Sigelei employs a magnetic battery door cover that can be effortlessly removed and replaced with the Fuchai 200W TC. At first, I thought that because of the ease of removing the battery door there might be an issue with the door standing firmly closed when out of its silicon sleeve, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.
The door holds firm.
The Classic Sigelei OLED Display
The Sigelei Fuchai 200W TC OLED display clearly shows the classic assortment of useful information that makes operating the Fuchai as easy as any other Sigelei mod. The screen displays the resistance of the coil, the output wattage, and output voltage, remaining battery life, the temperature of the coil in TC mode, the length of your hit, and should any errors occurs the display shows them immediately.
I would have liked to see Sigelei update their display with the Fuchai OLED screen since this mod seems to be the new flagship, but in reality the GUI has not changed for quite a while. I recently began the review for the Sigelei Mini Book and it too uses the same GUI. It’s time for revamp, higher resolution, maybe some color, and perhaps a restructure of how the information is laid out.
The Sigelei Fuchai 200W TC includes a myriad of safety features you would expect in a modern TC device. Features like Input High Voltage Warning Protection, Low Voltage Protection, Output Short-Circuit Protection, Low Resistance Protection, Reverse Battery Protection, and Overheat Prevention Protection are all expected in high-end mods, and they are all here in the Fuchai.
Sub-Ohm Tanks That Perform Well
There isn’t a good reason to buy into a 200w mod unless you’re going to use most, if not all, of the power available to you. While I have yet to reach that 200w level, or anywhere close to it, many will. Still, the high-end sub-ohm tanks that I used with the Fuchai, output exceptional performance. These tanks used in this review are as follows:
- The Uwell Crown w/ Dual Coil 0.25-ohms and Dual 0.5-ohms.
- Horizon Arctic V8 w/ the Hive Coil 0.35-ohms and Tiger coil 0.3-ohms
- Goliath V2 w/ the 0.2-ohm coil and Ni200 coils
- Joyetech Cubis w/ the 0.5-ohm coil
- Youde UD Zephyrus V2 w/ the Ni200 0.15-ohm coil
As far as RDA’s go, any decent RDA and a well built coil will shine the Fuchai.
Sigelei Fuchai 200W TC Comes With:
1 x Sigelei Fuchai 200W TC Box MOD
1 x Protective Silicone Sleeve
1 x User Manual
Conclusion
The Sigelei Fuchai 200W TC is a beautiful device. Holding it feels great, from the slanted angles to the rubberized finish, it is an impressive beast. The accents (grooves) on the display side of the device are artful and carefully placed.
The bottom of the mod has plenty of venting, adding some safety and some style, and the chromed stainless steel battery connector looks perfectly seated and its adjustable pin accommodates a flush fit for most of the sub-ohm tank I’ve attached to it. There remains a couple of tanks that refuse to sit flush with any current mod I have, and I’ve yet to figure out why, other than the manufacturer creating a slightly longer connector on the tank.
Evolution
But, let’s face it, there isn’t anything revolutionary about the Sigelei Fuchai 200W TC. It is standard fare these days for a variable wattage and temperature control mod.
What does set the Fuchai apart from other devices are three things; the unique slanted angles of the body, the luscious rubberized paint, and the 200w of sheer power. The Sigelei Fuchai 200W TC is plenty of tech wrapped in long lasting suit of armor, and at $59.99 it is certainly an affordable device.
If you’re looking for a Sigelei that oozes style, durability, and massive power, the Sigelei Fuchai 200W TC is definitely a box mod to consider. Not for nothing, but I own the red one, and its color is a deep, dark red, not the hot pink or light red many companies insist is “red”.
