Vaporesso LUXE Mod & SKRR Sub-Ohm Tank Kit Review

As a long-time Reviewer for Spinfuel VAPE I have always been suspicious of any review, written or video, where said reviewer offers nothing but positive and “glowing” remarks about whatever it is that’s being reviewed. No mod, no Tank, is ever perfect. I’ve reviewed more than 200 mods and 150 tanks in 7 years, and although I’ve loved some, I’ve despised even more. It took me a while to decide how to approach this review for the Vaporesso LUXE Starter Kit, featuring the new SKRR Sub-Ohm Tank, and it’s new QF Coils,  and when push came to shove, I decided to go with my guts… in other words, because I truly, deeply believe this Starter Kit is one of the best this year, I’m giving you the review it deserves. The LUXE and SKRR are killer, period.

2018 has been a very good year for Vaporesso. For a company that made its name just a couple of years back with the CCELL (ceramic coils) and the Target Mod (reviewed here), Vaporesso is at the top of its game. The release of the Vaporesso LUXE, a 220W gorgeous vape mod and a high performance, 8mL Supertank sub-ohm called the SKRR, cements their position as a first-class manufacturer of the all things vape. Let’s see why this is one Starter Kit you’re going to want to own.

The Vaporesso Luxe 220w vape mod uses an almost perfect touch-screen GUI and features an ultra-fast 0.001s instant fire up. The LUXE mod is also equipped with 2.5A ultrafast charge technology that shortens its charge time to just 1.5hours with depleted dual 18650 cells. But it doesn’t stop there.

The LUXE Starter Kit is also equipped with the most advanced version yet of the OMNI Board 4.0 Chipset. There is a Hi-Res, stunning 2.0″ TFT (twisted film transistor) Color display that is even sharper than the Vaporesso Polar (reviewed here). There is much more to say about the LUXE mod, including the innovative touchscreen application, but before I get to that, I want to talk about the next great Sub-Ohm Tank.

QF Air Distribution System in Brief

The Vaporesso SKRR Sub-Ohm is the most versatile Sub-Ohm tank by Vaporesso, or any other brand so far.

Its internal Quad-flow air distribution system produces exquisite flavor and warm vapor by creating a perfect balance between flavor fidelity and cloud chucking through the airflow distribution.

This new innovative (and ‘innovative’ works in this instance) technology even eliminates the possibility of the dreaded spit back.  The QF Coil uses a bullet-shaped inner structure that controls the air flow in order to prevent liquid from coming up through the drip tip.

Speaking of the drip tip, the SKRR users a secure yet simple locking mechanism by creating a drip tip that locks in. Because of this, the user will need to remove the drip tip before sliding the top cap to reveal the fill slot.

The base of the tank uses a triple airflow slot style to provide plenty of air to the coils. The Coil Family includes the new QF coils and the still worthy GT coils.

The Vaporesso QF Replacement Coils uses a combination of cotton and flax wicking materials for long-lasting flavor-enhanced performance.  Below are the QF coil options:

The Vaporesso LUXE 220W Box Mod features more than the intelligent onboard chipset that provides the Insta-Fire speed of 0.001s and Super Player Mode, which is a broad resistance range meant to be adaptive to most of the industry’s tanks, including most  mesh tanks.

The truly high-end design includes the spectacular 2.0″ TFT Full-Color display with vibration-enabled buttons for an accurate tactile feedback.

The Vaporesso LUXE begins with a 5-click on/off sequence. 3 Clicks locks and unlocks the settings the user decides to use, and still allows the user to vape. The LUXE is set to default to the locked position, and to adjust using the menu, the user will need to do the 3-click thing.

To access the internal menu system the user touches and holds the backlit Vaporesso icon under the screen, once the mod is unlocked. A beautifully designed screen appears showing a myriad of options. Using the backlit adjustment “dots” on either side of the backlit Vaporesso icon, the user moves through the menu system. Once arriving at an option that needs adjusting, the user briefly touches the logo icon again, then adjusts with the backlit dots. Once satisfied, simply press the fire button, or the exit icon on the screen.

It does take a couple of hours of fiddling with the touch controls, but once the user gets it down, it becomes of the best GUI’s this reviewer has ever used. The best feature is the implementation of the locking system. In the 10 days I’ve been using the LUXE I’ve never had an incident with accidental adjustments or firing. Extremely well thought out.

Other features worth a mention include the center 510 connector, the 5-220W range, the 0.03-5.0-ohm resistance range (!), TCR adjustments, and a slew of safety features that set the standard. The LUXE is available in Silver, Black, Red, Blue Iris, Green Ape, Bronze Rainbow, with coordinated SKRR Tanks.

At first glance Vapers may mistake the LUXE for the SMOK X-PRIV (reviewed here). The X-PRIV came to my mind immediately, but after using the LUXE for more than a week I’m convinced the LUXE is the better Mod.
