DUAL 18650 - OMNI 4 POLAR STARTER KIT

While I was writing my review for the Vaporesso Polar Kit I happened to catch Julia’s review for the Vaporesso Armour Pro Kit (reviewed here) and was tickled pink that in her review she said, “I would have included a second, dual 2×700 model” … Well, the Vaporesso Polar isn’t a dual 2×700 device, however, it is a DUAL 18650 mod that is every bit as magical and innovative as it’s sibling, the Armour Pro. Since Julia scored the Armour as an A+ Kit, the Polar Kit should score at least the same. The Vaporesso Polar and Cascade Baby SE (special edition) is a magnificent kit, and there is lots to say about it…

Spinfuel VAPE rates this vape gear as a Score of XXX in our in-depth review
The Magnificent Vaporesso Polar & Cascade Baby SE Starter Kit Review

The Vaporesso Polar is a 220W vape mod that was designed with western aesthetics of sleek sophistication and precise engineering. The Polar Starter Kit consists of this marvelous mod and the upgraded Omni Board 4.0 chipset, like the Armour Pro, but the Polar features the razor sharp, full color, huge 2.0″ TFT LCD display. The Cascade Baby SE Sub-Ohm offers up the same performance of the Cascade Baby on the Armour Pro but has been given an ultra-modern design that together with the Polar Mod, there is nothing on the market right now that can equal the Polar Starter Kit in pure aesthetics.

“ELEMENT

Measuring 5.6” by 1.7” by 1.1” (28mm at the top width) with the Cascade Baby SE attached, meaning the Vaporesso Polar mod and Cascade tank will fit any size hand, left or right. The side panel fire button is plenty big, made of stainless-steel with a slight texture for an easy tactile feel. If you hold the device with the left-hand, you’ll use your index finger on the trigger and the awesome display tilts toward you. If you’re right-handed, you’ll most probably grip the mod so that your thumb is on the trigger and the display is seen outward. At least that’s the way it is for myself, you may hold it differently.

Inside the Vaporesso Polar Mod is the same OMNI 4 Board that sits inside the Armour Mod. I dare say I would stack the new OMNI 4 up against any current board, including the DNA250C. The OMNI 4 provides a wattage range of 5W-220W, a resistance range of 0.03-ohm to 5.0-ohms, and includes several “modes”; Smart VW(H/N/S) / VT(SS, NI, TI) / CCT / CCW / VV / CCV, BYPASS, and a 2-memory TCR Adjustment. There is even a feature Super Player Mode, a broad resistance range that is meant to provide an optimal vape for most of the modern tanks available now and in the future.

More on the OMNI 4 Board

As first seen in the Vaporesso Armour Pro Kit Review, the updated OMNI board 4.0 now features Insta-fire function, featuring the fastest firing speed available, just 0.001 seconds. It features a PCBA Water resistance, and a 2.5A quick charge system, and all the safety protections in a modern mod, even deeper optimization designed for specifically for the GT Mesh coil.

The Polar, as well as the Armour Pro, features a 3rdbutton, a Mode button, and this is how users will navigate the menu system. It is a 5-click on/off, 3-click lock/unlock device. Holding the Mode button for 2-3 seconds brings up the main menu, using the plus/minus adjust buttons highlights the settings icon you want to adjust, then pressing the Mode button again opens up the options inside the icon. Pressing the fire button exits the menu at any time, but there is also an Exit button inside the menu system that users should use to properly exit out of the menu.

The OMNI 4 Modes at a Glance

VW – An advanced Variable Wattage mode with 3 power levels: VW-H(High); VW-N (Normal); VW-S(Soft). The default setting is Normal. In VW mode, the device will automatically adjust the voltage to support the wattage you selected. If you want to switch between different ohms resistance, you don’t need to change your wattage setting, your mod will automatically select the adequate average wattage for your atomizer.

CCW – Users can customize their own “curve of wattage” line using the plus and minus buttons (Ramp-up time and consequent performance); then move on to the next bar with a quick press of the fire button When all modifications are done the user simply presses the mode button to save and exit.

SP – In SP mode, the mod has broader resistance range, 0.03Ω-5Ω, and is adaptive even to mainstream RDAs.

VV – Variable Voltage mode works by adjusting the voltage up or down to match the user’s perfect heat level. The user can change voltage for different tanks that have different resistances. If the user is using a tank with a higher resistance, just increase the voltage, and vice versa.

CCV – Like CCW, the user can customize his or her own “curve of voltage” using the plus and minus buttons (Ramp-up time and consequent performance); then move on to the next bar with a quick press of the fire button. When all modifications are complete, the user presses the mode button to save and exit.

AUTO VT – When the Armour Pro mod is in VT-NI/ TI/ SS mode (with Auto Function enabled), the mod can separately support Nickel 200, Titanium, and 316 Stainless Steel coils intelligently, In Auto VT, the Armour Pro’s OMNI 4 will intelligently adjust temperature control parameters based on the heating wire’s resistance, and the user can also change the startup wattage.

M1/M2 – The User can choose his or her own Manual setting and set the TCR at different values when within the proper range.

BP – Bypass Mode – Direct output voltage system is used when in Bypass mode. The higher the battery charge, the higher the output voltage. When set in this mode, the device can support a coil whose resistance is within the range of 0.05-5ohm.

SMART On/Off (NEW) – When in Advanced Variable Wattage mode, the user can turn on the Smart function and it can change the intensity according to the specific coil resistance levels within a safe limit in VW-H/N/S mode. – To enable SMART: System Menu > SET > SMART ON/OFF

AUTO On/Off (New) – The new Auto function removes any operation difficulties when switching between VW-H and VW-N or between VT-H and VT-N. – How to enable it: System Menu > SET > AUTO ON/OFF

DEFAULT – The User can reset the Armour Pro Mod to default setting by entering Default in the menu system and pressing YES.

Auto Atomizer Recognition – For an accurate temperature control system, the mod will ask the user if the newatomizer is attached. ” OLD LOAD: -, NEW LOAD: + ” will appear on the display. If a new atomizer is attached, the user will press ” + “, the mod will read and calibrate a new resistance; if not, press ” – “, the mod will read at locked resistance.

The Cascade Baby SE (Special Edition)

The new special edition Cascade Baby looks much different than the Cascade Baby seen on the Armour Pro and elsewhere. With a 6.5mL capacity for e-juice, high quality colored glass tank, triple airflow slots, and the superior Isolation Structure Design that separates the e-juice and coil chamber, and finally a wider wide-bore Delrin drip tip, and a lift and slide top fill system. The Cascade Baby SE is, in a word, “better” in nearly all ways than the Cascade Baby.

The Cascade Sub-Ohm Tanks all use the GT Coils, which can also be used in last year’s NRG sub-ohm tank. The Polar Starter Kit includes both the 0.15-ohm GT8 coil, rated at 50W-110W, and the 0.18-ohm GT Mesh coil, rated at 50W-90W. Because the dual-18650 Polar can output a maximum of 220W, all GT Coils would work just fine.

Vaporesso NRG GT Replacement Coils Features:

  • GT Cores Structure
  • 0.5ohm GT cCell Core – rated for 15-40W
  • 0.3ohm GT cCell2 Core – rated for 35-40W

Vaping with the Vaporesso Polar & Cascade Baby SE

Despite dual-18650 cells and powering the full-color 2” TFT LCD display, the battery management of the OMNI 4 Board allows for very decent battery life, not to mention wicked fast recharging in the unit. As a heavy Vaper I was able to a good 5 hours before depleting the batteries, which is excellent in my long years of experience.

The GT Coils are designed to offer particular traits, and the two coils in the Polar Kit provide excellent flavor fidelity and ample clouds of vapor. While all the sub-ohm tank makers are turning their efforts toward producing Mesh coils, Vaporesso’s 0.18-ohm GT Mesh emphasizes intense and authentic flavor, and so far, extended coil life. The lower resistance 0.15-ohm GT8, with wide open triple airflow slots is the better cloud maker.

Let’s Talk about that TFT LCD Display

Vaporesso certainly has a new GUI designer in their employ because the display on the Polar is the best I’ve seen from Vaporesso or any other mod maker. The display itself is TFT, meaning a thin-film-transistor type display. Some people will point out that this full-color TFT LCD is an older technology, and they are right. A few years back TFT LCD’s were used in smartphones and flat-panel TV screens. That said, with TFT, each pixel is controlled by from one to four transistors. TFT technology provides the best resolution of all the flat-panel tech, and as you can see by the photos in this review, the colors are vivid, sharp, and easy on the eyes.

Navigating to the Settings in the menu the user can set the time, brightness, puff counter, theme color, and turn on or off the “Smart” system. The method I chose for the clock is a very modern large font display of the time, date, and so on.

Bottom Lining It

I can understand Julia’s score of an A+ for the Vaporesso Armour Pro. It’s OMNI 4 Board, it’s color OLED display, and the added battery life of a single 2X700 battery, plus the Cascade Baby sub-ohm tank, the Armour Pro Kit is an excellent device and worth every penny it sells for at Element Vape. Having said that, given the choice between the two as a primary device, the Vaporesso Polar is by far a better device for a primary device. I own both of them now, and for me, these “best of Vaporesso” devices will be used full time until something better comes along, which is sure to happen in this fast-moving industry.

SCORE: A+
