Spinfuel Lab

The Evolution of Analysis.

At Spinfuel, we don’t just review products — we deconstruct them. For over a decade, we have stood at the intersection of technology and lifestyle, providing the vaping community with the most rigorous, no-spin analysis in the industry. We were built on a simple premise: vapers deserve the truth. Not the marketing version. The Lab Truth.

The Legacy

Spinfuel was founded in 2012, at a moment when the vaping industry was young, unregulated, and badly in need of voices who would tell the truth about it. The hardware was inconsistent. The marketing was wilder than the products. And consumers had almost nowhere to turn for information that wasn’t written by the same people trying to sell them something.

We filled that gap. From the earliest cigalikes to the first-generation mods, through the pod revolution and the disposable explosion, Spinfuel has been there — testing, reporting, and refusing to soften our findings to protect brand relationships. That independence is not something we stumbled into. It is something we have defended, deliberately, for every year we have been publishing.

What started as a passion project by writers who were frustrated with the state of vaping media grew into one of the longest-running independent publications in the industry. That longevity is not an accident. It is the result of getting things right — and being willing to say so when we don’t.

Fourteen Years. One Standard.

  • 2012

    Spinfuel Launches

Founded as an independent editorial voice in a market dominated by manufacturer-funded content. First reviews published covering early-generation e-cigarettes and cartomizer hardware.

  • 2014 – 2017

    The Mod Era

Spinfuel grows alongside the regulated mod market. We develop our hardware stress-test methodology — pushing devices to thermal, wattage, and battery limits that most reviewers won’t go near.

  • 2018 – 2021

The Pod & Salt Nic Revolution

As the industry pivots toward pod systems and nicotine salts, so does our coverage. We refine our flavor analysis framework and begin integrating draw resistance, coil longevity, and leak testing into every evaluation.

  • 2022 – 2024

    Disposable Dominance

The market floods with high-capacity disposables. Spinfuel builds out its Lab reporting format to handle puff-count verification, battery discharge analysis, and mesh coil performance comparison at scale.

  • 2025 – Present

    Spinfuel Lab — Relaunched

The site relaunches under The Lab banner. Advanced data analysis, standardized testing protocols, and a renewed editorial commitment to the Lab Truth standard. Same mission. Sharper tools.

How We Test

The Spinfuel Lab Report is not a box-opening video. It is not a first-impression post dressed up as a review. Every product that goes through our process is evaluated against a consistent, repeatable set of criteria — criteria we have refined over more than a decade of hands-on testing.

We test hardware under real-world conditions and then push past them. We document what manufacturers don’t put in their spec sheets. And we do not sign off on a review until we have used the device long enough to know how it behaves after the honeymoon is over.

Hardware Stress Testing

Devices are run at rated wattage and above. Thermal performance, battery sag, and safety circuit behavior are all evaluated and documented.

Puff Count Verification

Manufacturer puff claims are stress-tested under standardized draw conditions. We report what the device actually delivers, not what the label says.

Flavor Analysis

E-liquid and disposable flavor profiles are evaluated for accuracy, complexity, and consistency across the life of the device or bottle.

Longevity & Build Quality

We look at coil lifespan, material quality, button feel, and finish durability. Devices that fall apart at week two don’t get a pass because they looked good out of the box.

The Lab Truth

Every review we publish, every comparison we run, every score we assign — it all traces back to one principle. We call it the Lab Truth. It means we report what we find, not what a brand wants us to find. It means negative conclusions stay in the final copy. It means a product that fails our tests is reported as a product that failed our tests, regardless of how many units the manufacturer ships per quarter.

We do not soften findings for advertisers. We do not bury critical observations in footnotes. We do not give a product a second chance in the review because the PR contact was polite.

“We provide the Lab Truth so you can make informed decisions. Responsibility for the safe operation of any device rests solely with the user.”

— Spinfuel Editorial Standard

That standard has cost us brand relationships over the years. We consider that a reasonable price for the trust of our readers. If a manufacturer pulls their sample program because we published an honest review, that tells you everything you need to know about their product — and everything you need to know about us.

The Future

In 2026, we have evolved into the Spinfuel Lab — a more structured, more data-driven version of what we have always done. The relaunch brings standardized testing protocols, expanded coverage of high-capacity disposables and advanced mod hardware, and a renewed commitment to the kind of long-form analysis that the vaping community deserves and rarely gets.

The market has changed dramatically since 2012. The devices are more sophisticated. The regulatory environment is more complex. The marketing budgets are bigger, and the noise is louder. If anything, that makes honest, independent coverage more valuable — not less.

We are not here to chase clicks. We are not here to be first. We are here to be right. That has been our standard since the beginning, and it is the only standard we intend to operate under going forward.

Editorial Independence

Spinfuel accepts review samples from manufacturers and may participate in affiliate marketing programs. Neither of these relationships influences our editorial conclusions. Writers do not know the commercial status of a product before submitting a final review. Affiliate links are added after editorial decisions are made, not before.

We have turned down sponsorship arrangements that came with editorial strings attached. We have published negative reviews of products from brands that were active advertisers. We have corrected our own errors publicly when we got something wrong.

That is what editorial independence actually looks like. Not a disclaimer at the bottom of a glowing review — a track record.

The Lab Standard

Thirteen years in, the vaping industry is larger, louder, and more complicated than anything we could have anticipated in 2012. And the need for honest, technically rigorous, independent coverage is greater than it has ever been. That is what Spinfuel Lab is here to provide. We have been through the gauntlet. So has every product we’ve ever reviewed.
