The whole doesn’t always equal the sum of its parts. A trite way to start this review? Maybe. But it’s never been more evident than with the all-new Uwell Evdilo Starter Kit, which seems like it should be an awesome vape setup. But there’s so many missed opportunities here, I kind of can’t believe it comes from Uwell.
Is the Uwell Evdilo kit a bad vape choice? No. But I can’t shake the feeling it could (and should) have been so much better. Let’s take a look and see if you agree.
The Uwell Description
The UWELL EVDILO 200W & Valyrian II Starter Kit is a well-constructed vaping system, integrating a dual battery layout utilizing 18650, 20700 or 21700 rechargeable batteries that are sold separately, sliding battery panel, and is paired with the UWELL Valyrian II 2 Sub-Ohm Tank.
Relying on a versatile dual battery layout, the EVDILO can utilize batteries measuring 21700 or 20700, or sleeved 18650 batteries within the sliding battery panel. This powers the proprietary chipset to introduce an ultra-rapid firing speed, clocking in at 0.008s. In addition, the sliding battery panel is innovative, locking at the bottom, to create a simplified yet innovative battery storage process.
Furthermore, the EVDILO is paired with the Valyrian II 2 Sub-Ohm Tank, a competitive vaping tank that can hold up to 6mL within the bubble glass confines and implements a pro-FOCS Flavor Tasting Technology that consolidates and compounds the intricate flavors.

Aesthetics
There’s two schools of thought when it comes to the look and feel of the Uwell Evdilo. And it’s usually me (my name’s Brad, by the way) citing them both, depending on what mood strikes me during testing. On one hand, there’s comfort and trust that comes with proven mod designs, and the Evdilo is definitely time-honored.
Using the classic “Wismec-like” frame design, complete with front-facing fire key, a modest but effective display and nothing out of the ordinary, many users will just be thrilled to have a device that feels familiar, while still having updated technology under the hood.
On the other (slightly grumpier) hand, we’ve been there. We’ve done that. We’ve bought the e-liquid soaked t-shirt. Sure, it’s a proven design, and — as I’ve said on here countless times — there’s only so many ways to effectively build a vape device. But there’s nothing exciting about the Evdilo’s look, so if that’s important to you, look a little harder before “adding to cart.”
Dedication to Excellence
That said, almost everything on this mod is done with Uwell’s usual dedication to excellence. From top to bottom, 510 to battery door, the Evdilo is built lovingly, with a truly professional finish that most companies don’t offer, even in 2019.
But notice I said “almost.” Unfortunately, even though the Evdilo is designed to handle all common battery types, 21700 batteries simply don’t fit well. During my testing, it took a whole lotta elbow grease to get any of my 20+ 21700s to fit in the narrow, compact chamber. Obviously, the slightly narrower 20700s got in without worry, but I have a hard time accepting this clear design flaw.
These cells weren’t rewrapped or flawed in any way. They simply struggled to fit, and struggled worse when trying to close the hinged bottom door. Disappointing, to say the least.
Also disappointing is the display. Given the “retro” vibe of the VERY-2016 Evdilo frame, I probably shouldn’t be surprised by the minimalist OLED screen and linear menu system. But I couldn’t help but think about all the similarly styled mods that took their displays to higher levels this year, and wonder why Uwell didn’t give this a little more attention. It works, it’s fine, but “fine” isn’t a goal of mine entering 2020.
Revisiting the Uwell Valyrian 2 Sub-Ohm Tank
For those of you unfamiliar with the Uwell Valyrian 2, stop reading this and go buy one. Though it might not be a “leaps and bounds” improvement over the original, the larger and more capacious Valyrian 2 is a special beast in its own right. Here’s what we said, way back when…
At first sight the old and new Valyrian look nearly identical, however, the original Valyrian was 25mm base width while the Valyrian 2 is 29mm. The height and width of the new body is shorter and stouter, slightly, than the original. Inside the chassis structure of the Valyrian 2 hm holds the self-cleaning Pro-FOCS Flavor Tasting Technology. These new features help burn off old e-liquid from its coils, allowing a new flavor of e-juice to shine through without leftover flavors.
Redundant
We’re not going to reprint all the words we’ve already covered, but know this — if you’re in the market for a COMPLETE vape mod kit, no matter what qualms you or I have with the Evdilo, the Valyrian 2 is a massive check in the “plus” column, and needs to be part of your consideration when making the purchase.
Vaping the Uwell Evdilo Kit
Because of the afore-mentioned 21700 problem, my testing was limited to 20700 and 18650 cells (with included adapter). That alone is a problem… but what was worse was how I couldn’t detect ONE OUNCE of difference between them. The Evdilo spit out perfectly average and acceptable battery life with either format, showing zero advantage for one over the other.
The good news is that Uwell made its Uwell Evdilo Kit pretty efficient in terms of battery life. No matter which cells you use, the mod is going to give you reliable, predictable performance front to back, delivering a full 200 watts of power without much noticeable battery drain. It ramps quietly and efficiently, and rarely stutters, even at those dreaded top wattages.
Uwell Evdilo Temp Control
Even tinkering in temp control modes didn’t have much of an effect on battery performance. It’s consistent, boring. I’d love a few more hours of performance than I got with the Evdilo. I also know most 200+ watt mods are known for LESS. I took this as a moderate win, and left it at that.
Paired with the companion Valyrian 2 tank I was more than happy with the results. As we discussed, the Valyrian 2 is a wonderful sub-ohm offering, which works really well with most any mod. When paired with other tanks, performance was mostly good, with only some older MTL tanks presenting any issues… all stemming from a slight case of “overpowering.”
Who Wants the Evdilo?
The Evdilo’s target audience isn’t likely going to be flavor-focused MTL Vapers. It’s a little concerning that lower wattages seemed to jump and vary a bit. It renders some of our higher-ohm tanks and builds un-vapeable. Innokin owns the MTL population these days, anyway. Not something I expected to type approaching 2020.
The vape quality was good. Paired with the awesome Valyrian II tank in the box, it had to be.
Pros:
- Amazing tank in the box
- Solid 200-watt performance
- Proven design
Cons:
- 21700s don’t seem to fit right
- Battery life is shockingly even, no matter which cells you use
- Kind of a boring, old-fashioned feel across the board
The Uwell Evdilo Verdict
If you read between the negative lines, you’ll see that I enjoyed my time with the Evdilo. It didn’t break any rules, push any boundaries or rewrite any long-standing vape rules. What the Evdilo accomplished was to offer smooth, reliable vape quality and an amazing pack-in tank.
Maybe you don’t need frills or extras, or HOURS of battery life. Maybe proven, unfettered performance is all it takes to be a winning experience. If that’s you, take a look at the Evdilo kit — the tank alone is worth putting the kit into the conversation.
