PREVIEW: Kanger iKEN 230W TC Mod & Tank Starter Kit

It has certainly been a while since I’ve been impressed with the looks and the specs of a Kanger mod. Especially one that offers a maximum wattage output of 230W, a TC suite, and a new sub-ohm tank, all for under fifty bucks. I can’t wait to use one to conduct a proper review. In the meantime, let’s take a look at what we can expect with this new Kanger iKEN 230W TC Starter Kit (it’s official name) starter kit from KangerTech

KangerTech has seemed to reintroduce themselves into the high-wattage box mod segment of the industry with this modern looking, high-powered box mod and tank with the iKEN 230W TC Starter Kit. Many Vapers may be disappointed by the iKEN having an internal, non-removable battery, but with 5100mAh and fast 2A charging, I would venture to say that any type of vaping would run for many hours on a single charge, and then recharge faster than we might think.

Pairing the iKEN mod with a new top-filling, top-airflow iKEN Sub-Ohm Tank, I am confident that this kit will be successful with MTL or DL Vapers.

While it seems that the iKEN Sub-Ohm Tank comes in a single black color, the mod itself comes in, Red, Blue, Yellow, or Green. I have my eyes set on the deep yellow model.

The Kanger iKEN 230W TC Box Mod is said to be constructed with soft curves along the chassis, and with a carbon fiber inlay around the mods grip area, that, from the photos, looks impressive.

The Kanger iKEN 230W features a huge 1.54 Inch TFT Full-Color display screen with a wide array of necessary data with an intuitive interface. Powered by the 5100mAh internal battery, the tops out at 230W, provides the user with a temperature control suite that includes TCR adjustments.  There are also three different power modes to choose from: Beginner, Intermediate, and Expert.

The included iKEN Sub-Ohm Tank is the latest from Kanger, and it features a design concept that is reminiscent of the new SMOK X-Baby Sub-Ohm; top-filling and top airflow design. Like other Kanger tanks, the iKEN Sub-Ohm uses the effective SSOCC coil structure.

The top airflow structure is said to be dynamic, with air channeling through the two dual air slots and redirected down to the atomizer core and then back up through the central chimney. This design creates an effective “U” airflow pathway, and if it works as advertised, this is going to be an excellent tank for the iKEN mod.

The Kanger iKEN 230W TC Starter Kit is packed with modern features and specs (see below) and with a price point of under fifty dollars, I’m actually excited to review it next week. Of course, it is too early to render any kind of genuine opinion for the new Kanger iKEN Starter Kit, but if the information presented here holds up, it will be hard to find fault with it. All these features, plus a new Sub-Ohm tank from the makers of the first major launch of the sub-ohm tanks, the Kanger SubTank, I have a good feeling about it.

I did notice that I could not find the e-juice capacity for the new tank anywhere, and not everyone will want a mod with an internal battery. However, I should mention that we recently passed on a new DNA250 mod because it’s internal battery was a mere 1200mAh. Imagine trying to get any kind of battery life from 1200-mAh powering a 250W mod. Ridiculous.
