The Kanger K Kiss Starter Kit ($49.99 Vapor Authority) is a direct voltage output based box mod said to be a new flagship kit. With a whopping 6300mAh rechargeable battery and a new chipset, as well as a new 4.5ml capacity Sub-Ohm Tank (24mm diameter) aptly named, the K Kiss Tank.

KangerTech, or Kanger, earned a lot of respect from us in the past with their phenomenal Subtank and Subtank Mini, and it appears Kanger was poised to become the de facto leader of the vape industry. While Kanger still has more than enough fans, the litany of tanks and mods coming from Kanger’s engineers these past couple of years have been hit and miss, and lately it seems there have been more misses than hits. The Kanger K Kiss, from our time spent using it heavily, is one for the ‘hit’ column.

While the K Kiss is destined for success, don’t be confused that we are putting this device on a pedestal. The Kanger K Kiss Starter Kit is an excellent kit for a certain type of user, but it is not in the same league as most of the products from SMOK, WISMEC, or even eLeaf.

About the Kanger K Kiss Box Mod

The textured chassis takes on the shape of a triple 18650 box mod like the Lost Vape Triade, the WISMEC Reuleaux RX300, and others, only the K Kiss is much smaller, less powerful, and features an internal, non-removable battery.

The internal battery may just be the defining feature of the K Kiss. Featuring a whopping 6300mAh battery pack, this just may set the record for milliamp hours in a box mod. The battery to size ratio is incredible; inside this 40mm by 83mm triangular chassis sits 6300mAh of stored power. When it comes to recharging the battery, the short USB cable and the chipset will recharge at 1A. A complete recharge will take 2-2.5 hours are 1A.

In my Real-World Report below I’ll talk about the actual battery life of this 6300mAh mod.

The Kanger K Kiss is also Kanger’s first Direct Voltage Output box mod. Kanger has developed a new Direct Voltage Output Chipset, which can support coil resistances down to 0.15Ω. The new chipset has, so far, calculated the proper voltage output for various SSOCC coils I’ve used in the device with excellent results.

The K Kiss does all the work internally so the user doesn’t need to. There are no adjustment buttons, no OLED display… just a single fire button with a 10s-draw limit.

Sitting atop the K Kiss is a five LED feedback screen, indicating the remaining power left in the internal battery.

The Kanger K Kiss is available in Woodgrain, Red, Orange, and Black textured finishes. The chassis is a zinc-aluminum alloy, and the 510-connector atop the K Kiss is stainless steel.

Included with the K Kiss Starter Kit is the new K Kiss Sub-Ohm Tank. This is a 24mm diameter wide, 4.5mL capacity tank that uses the Kanger SSOCC coil platform.

The Starter Kit has only one 0.2 ohm SSOCC coil head, and it is preinstalled in the tank. The wattage range of the coil head is 25 to 60W. The K Kiss tank can be used on any mod, and because there is no display on the K Kiss mod I put the tank on a Vaporshark Hedron and the optimal wattage for me was 45-50W. My vaping experience with the K Kiss Tank was better on the Hedron than it was on the K Kiss mod, but the K Kiss mod did a decent job.

The Air flows into the K Kiss Sub-Ohm Tank through four non-adjustable 6mm by 1.5mm air slots, providing a balanced, but tight draw. The K Kiss Tank is a Mouth to Lung tank, and that will limit the popularity of an otherwise terrific tank. Although the draw is tight, it’s not so tight that a user can’t get a big head of vapor out of it. In fact, after a day or two of breaking in a new coil I could take direct lung hits, albeit rather stiff ones.

In addition to the surprisingly good vapor production from an MTL tank, the flavor from these Stainless-Steel coil wires is exceptional. It was hard to believe that the wires weren’t Kanthal wires.

Kanger K Kiss Real World Report

The Kanger K Kiss is kind of an odd-duck. There are vapers who will refuse to buy an internal battery mod for the simple reason that, no matter how good the battery life is, that battery is not going to last more than a year. The K Kiss Starter Kit is $49.99, no one is going to want to send it in to Kanger to have the battery replaced, they’ll just toss it. That doesn’t sit well with a lot of people. Then again, with such a huge milliamp rating, 6300mAh, the K Kiss will last, does last, hours and hours before needing a recharge. And the fact remains, an 18650 battery doesn’t last forever either, so what it comes down to is convenience. If the owner gets a good year out of a Kanger K Kiss Starter Kit, then that $49.95 well spent.

The Fire Button is an issue for me. It’s too small, and it fits too flush with the chassis. The triangular chassis keeps me spinning the thing around until I can feel the button. Kanger absolutely should have placed a much larger fire button, or fire panel, on this otherwise fine-tuned mod.

Grade: A

“The ideal box mod starter kit for early vapers looking to get a bigger vape without a learning curve. For intermediate or advanced vapers, there’s not much to sell it, other than taking a break to use something simple. The K Kiss Tank on the other hand, is a damned good MTL tank.”
