Preface

The Innokin iTaste SVD 2.0 was released in September 2014, just a mere 13 months ago. While basically out of date in such a short time, are elements of the device that continue to be relevant? The most overlooked aspect of the SVD 2.0 is the partnership between Innokin and EVOLV. EVOLV has practically become a household name to vapers around the world because of the enormous success of the DNA 40 and the recent release of the DNA 200. It was the DNA 40 that bought temperature control to the board, and to vapers. The DNA 20, the board in SVD 2.0 was definitely a defining moment for Innokin as it was a very success and dependable board. So, with that, we asked Joseph Martin III to take a “new” look at the iTaste SVD 2.0 to see if this vaporizer could still be useful in late 2015. His take is interesting, and enlightening. Most of all, we’re reminded that spending big money today for a state-of-the-art vaporizer isn’t so much as an investment as it is a “for the moment” purchase. Where will vaporizers be at the end of 2016? Will my Vaporshark DNA 200 still be relevant? Who knows?Dave Foster

Introduction

The iTaste SVD 2.0, by J. C. Martin, IIIThe Innokin EVOLV iTaste SVD 2.0 is a variable wattage device that can output up to 20 watts.  It comes with a carrying case and can use either an 18350 or 18650 sized battery.  This mod is best for smaller clearomizers rated for 5 – 25 watts.  At first glance, I wondered why a company would even make such a device, as its maximum wattage output is only 20W, then I realized it was released to the public in September of 2014, 13 months ago. How things have changed!  Well, it does work, and it can use the smaller lithium IMR 18350 batteries.  The attributes of the device allow it to be an item many may consider after all, especially if they want to enjoy a not too overpowering yet still pleasurable and flavorful vaping experience.  It is easy to use and safe.

Thoughts On The iTaste SVD 2.0

The Aspire Atlantis tank has been mentioned on the web as one of the best tanks for the iTaste SVD 2.0, along the the Kanger Subtank.  The attributes of this device are numerous.  It has a carrying case that has space for a battery; a dual magnet battery checker to see how much energy your batteries still have; a display which shows The iTaste SVD 2.0, by J. C. Martin, III ohms’ resistance; up-down and firing buttons (three total); and the device can use either one 18350 battery or one 18650 lithium IMR.  One cannot stack batteries with the device, and its minimum ohms’ resistance is 0.5 ohms thanks to the EVOLV DNA 20 and the higher amperage.

The Innokin iTaste SVD 2.0 was listed for about $99 in the late months of 2014.  Now, if you find the device on the web somewhere, it will still probably list for around $60 or less.  Either way there are many, many devices out there for a comparable price that will output much higher wattage and even temperature control technology.

Why would I even review the device if it can be so easily outdone? The SVD 2.0 is great for smaller clearomizers and can prolong battery life because of it.  If you are after a device that can help a craving of nicotine without being too over-powerful, the iTaste SVD 2.0 may be what you want.

In vaping with the device, I was surprised that with only 17 watts a clearomizer actually produced a decent cloud of vapor.  It may take a second or two to produce a big cloud, however it does produce more than enough to satisfy, safely. Due to the devices safety features, if you use the correct batteries, the device should not overheat.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the iTaste SVD 2.0 provides for a pleasurable vaping experience while minimizing the amount of watts used to do so.  If you like to vape with 18350 batteries, a device of this nature may be a good choice for you.  The battery checker and carrying case are positive attributes of the iTaste SVD 2.0 starter kit, as well as its OLED display showing ohms and its safety features.

I only give this item 3 of 5 stars.  While it is an advanced PV, capable of showing ohms’ resistance and easily able to change its wattage output, for its price someone may be happier with another device.  It is a safer device to use than an 18350 mech mod, as it incorporates safety features.  Thank you for reading.  Vape long and prosper.
