If pod mods were paintings, (just go with me here…) this bunch of VOOPOO Vinci X AIO’s would be classics from Leonardo Da… ..well, never mind. But, after spending some serious time with the all-new Voopoo Vinci X, the question is whether this all in one (AIO) device even qualifies as a “pod mod.”
Sure, there’s some common DNA (no, not “Evolv DNA” DNA) with the popular ultra-portables. But after introducing removable 18650 batteries, plug and play coils and 70 watts of power, the line has been forever blurred. But in a good way.
The Vinci X packs a powerful 70W of power in its small, handheld frame. What makes the Vinci X a worthy vape for nearly everyone is it doesn’t matter if your thing is MTL (mouth to lung, cigarette style) or DL (Direct Lung, which most Vapers prefer), the Vinci X is Voopoo’s attempt to take it’s original pod mod design in the Vinci series and build out a full blown vape for the masses.
Let’s dive in and see what’s up.
The Official “You Must Buy Me” Propaganda
Introducing the Voopoo VINCI X Pod Mod Kit, a versatile vaping system that can be geared for nicotine salts or regular eJuice, featuring the advanced Gene.AI Chipset, powered by a single 18650 battery, and can be used in an MTL or DTL fashion.
Featuring the newest generation of Gene.AI Chipsets, the Voopoo VINCI X Pod Mod can attain wattages between 5-70W and is equipped with plenty of protections and safeties to ensure a pleasurable and safe vaping experience.
However, the beauty of the VINCI X Pod System lies further deeper than the visually striking zinc-alloy frame and decorative panels, instead lying in the versatility of the VINCI X Pod Kit.
Supporting DTL and MTL vaping, the VINCI X can change airflow by rotating the pod 180º and reinstalling it with the sturdy magnetic connection.
In addition, the VINCI X Pod Kit can be outfitted with a myriad of coils from the Voopoo PnP Coil Series with the intelligent Gene.AI Chipset auto-detecting and adjusting the wattage accordingly to prevent burnt coils. Powered by a single 18650 battery, which is not included, it can be installed at the bottom, behind a threaded battery cap.

VOOPOO keeps calling the Vinci X a Pod Mod, and I guess they have that right. However, packing 5-70W, auto-adjusting to the coil in use, ability to use freebase (normal) e-liquid, and a replaceable 18650 cell? Come on, the Vinci X is damn AIO Mod, for big boys and girls. The Vinci X is in my personal use shelf right now. I vape pleasantly with a 70VG 30PG 3mg nicotine blend, and you would as well.
Aesthetics of the Vinci X
Just like its most-recent predecessor, the Vinci R, the X is swathed in attractive, honeycomb resin-like plastic, and framed in shiny silver aluminum, the Vinci continues to straddle the line between subtle and flashy. And, like before, the Vinci X certainly isn’t the most-compact pod type device we’ve seen, but it’s slender enough to stay in a pocket without worry. Hence, the AIO moniker for us.
We still wish the Vinci X had a little more heft and substance, because of durability concerns, but it definitely feels a little denser and more substantial than its predecessor. Maybe it’s just the 18650 powering it, but the Vinci X is altogether more confidence inducing than previous editions.
We also need to mention the 0.96-inch color display. On most mods, this would be a nice addition to the look and feel. On a pod mod, it’s practically unheard of. And it really adds to the “higher-level” experience Voopoo is trying to offer Vinci X buyers. And they have succeeded.
One little complaint – the slender mouthpiece definitely appeals to dedicated MTL Vapers, but given that the Vinci X is a multifunctional mod, it’s not always the best feature, especially when trying for deeper lung draws. It’s not BAD by any means, but the slim opening definitely limits those higher-wattage pulls quite a bit. However, when you buy the Vinci X you know you’re buying that slim mouthpiece. It can’t very well offer a SMOK TFV16 type drip tip.
Coils for the Vinci X
Though the more-powerful output capability has eliminated the draw-activation from earlier Vinci models, the Vinci X does deliver the same high-level of flavor and vapor production. And that — once again — has to be attributed to the outstanding coils.
These heads not only offer strong flavor with both freebase and nic salt juices, but also bring some decent longevity to the table. Of the two included coil heads, the VM1 mesh head was the standout performer, offering near tank like vapor and flavor.
My only question about the included coils is that none of them are rated for more than 40 watts, even though VOOPOO is pushing the 70-watt output on display here. Of course, I also think 70 watts is ridiculous for what’s supposed to be a versatile pod device. But why have so much overhead if the proprietary coil heads can’t take advantage of it?
Pros:
- 18650 gives much better battery life than previous editions
- Excellent, flavorful coils
- Gorgeous display brings out the best in this format
Cons:
- Coils require some break-in time
- Mouthpiece still floods if you overfill
- Will dedicated high-wattage vapers give it a chance?
Vaping the Voopoo Vinci X
The standout feature of this “pod” device is the vastly improved battery life. The Vinci R struggled with poor battery performance with its 1,500mAh integrated cell. But by moving to a single-18650 setup, the Vinci X is a whole new animal, giving our test team several solid hours of steady use, in both MTL and direct lung use cases, before needing to swap. To be fair, the Vinci X doesn’t need recharging, you simply insert a fresh battery.
Maybe a single battery mod isn’t the most exciting thing to discuss in a review. But we have to hand it to Voopoo for blurring that line between pod and box mod so effortlessly with this series. And if you’re hellbent on recreating the integrated battery “feel,” know that the Vinci X recharges via USB in less than 45 minutes, making this a complete success story for active vapers.
Spinfuel VAPE Recommendation and Score
While its older brother may have won all sorts of awards and accolades for its design, I feel like the Voopoo Vinci X is the ultimate rendition of this concept. Maybe it’s not a pod mod, per se. But the Vinci X is definitely a top-tier AIO mod kit, with plenty of power for experienced users, and more than enough versatility to include every other type of vaper along the way.
If not for the nitpicky things we noticed during testing, this would have been an A+ for power and vape quality alone. We can highly recommend it if it catches your eye.
