I just found out the other day that Spinfuel had received the new Vaporesso Revenger X kit for review, (the Vaporesso Revenger Mini is still another week out) and everyone seems to be excited to see what Vaporesso has done to improve from the original Revenger. Our top two writers had some disparate feelings about the original Revenger, which came out earlier this year – so disparate, in fact, that we ran two different reviews from opposing sides, here, and here. I wonder if we’ll wind up doing that again?
While key opinions differed, both agreed that Vaporesso was onto something with this new line – and we’re all hoping to agree the new Revenger X is the entry we’ve been waiting for.
At first glance, the Revenger X is very similar to its predecessor in shape and format, right down the inclusion of the proven and popular NRG sub-ohm tank (which also takes SMOK Baby Beast coils, for those who may not remember). In fact, the dimensions of the Revenger X are ALSO identical to the original, so what gives, here?

Vaporesso Does Haptics…
A closer inspection of the Vaporesso Revenger X reveals that the device isn’t different based on what’s added, as much as what’s been taken away – the front-mounted control buttons. Instead of standard functionality, Vaporesso has streamlined this already-slick device even further by adding a touch-sensitive, haptic vibration control scheme.
Now, the user activates the controls, and input-driven vibrations confirm selections. Could this be the end of unwanted pocket mishaps? We had some reservations, but after just a day (way too early for a final verdict) it certainly “seems” to be mishap-proofed.
One thing I hoped would make an appearance is glass that isn’t so fingerprint-friendly. With users forced to touch the screen for adjustments, we expect to carry microfiber cloths with us everywhere we go. Maybe not.
That said, perhaps the Revenger X’s touches will be kept to a minimum, since Vaporesso has allegedly streamlined the menu system to rectify the obscenely dense controls from the original Revenger. This was a notable complaint about that device, as even the simplest adjustments required an unclear series of button presses and extraneous interactions. However, if you are the type of Vaper that stays in Power mode (VW), than no matter how complicated, all you need to worry about is wattage, and making sure the onboard chip reads your coil resistance accurately.
More importantly, we sincerely hope the Revenger X features more accurate power output. The original Revenger was nearly 50 watts shy of its advertised range, with pulsing and misfires-a-plenty (for this reviewer anyway). While most vapers in the Revenger X’s target market likely won’t spend too much time at those wattages, it is still poor business practice to advertise a mod as 220 watts when 170 makes it creak uncontrollably.
Menu difficulties aside, the Revenger X features a full slate of options, including complete temperature control, TCR, bypass, custom heating curves and more. The original was already filled with customization options, and we anticipate Vaporesso expanding on this list with the Revenger X kit.
Our fingers are crossed, since our entire team loved the Revenger’s angular, beveled design, and we’re happy to see it return here. Our entire team did NOT love the NRG tank, though it was a functional sub-ohm tank that works as advertised, and complemented the original Revenger nicely. This reviewer only hopes his first experience with the NRG tank was a fluke, and that this one changes his mind entirely, because the Revenger X kit is shaping up to be an attractive, full-featured package from a company making some noise in this category.
I expect to have spent enough time with the Revenger X kit over the next several days, with a thorough review to follow. Stay tuned!
