Vaping AMP The Tanker Sub-Ohm Tank Review

There are more high-performance sub-ohm tanks on the market today than ever before. Vaping AMP The Tanker, otherwise known as The Tanker, belongs in the top-tier of sub-ohm tanks. Superior performance, materials, construction, and price, makes The Tanker a serious contender. Plus, it is American Made. No small feat.

To  draw my attention away from my long time favorites, SMOK TFV8 and TFV12 sub-ohms, is not easy for any sub-ohm tank to do. However, after two weeks with The Tanker, it has become my favorite new sub-ohm and the one that I plan to buy more of in the coming days. If you’re looking for a top-notch performance tank with a simple aesthetic, plenty of glass, and solid construction, The Tanker truly should be on your “To Buy” list.

The Tanker Sub-Ohm Tank by Vaping American Made Products (known as Vaping AMP) in collaboration with Rig Mod is pure performance in both Clouds and Flavor, and a healthy 5mL juice capacity. The massive dual bottom airflow slots, and powerful coil system that is also compatible with the TFV8 Coils, lays the groundwork for superior performance.

I believe the Vaping AMP Tanker is a tank that many Drippers have been waiting for. Advanced Drippers are known for their reputation to demand the most flavor and vapor from their e-juice and coil/cotton builds. When I was a big Dripper, I understood that Drippers put in the extra work happily, so their coils did not suffer from flavor limitations, whereas using sub-par sub-ohm prebuilt coils always to seemed to fall short. This is why the advanced vaping community has taken this tank seriously. To get performance that is every bit as good as the best RDA/RTA with superior coil builds, the Vaping AMP Tanker is built with the love and dedication that Americans pride themselves in.

The Vaping AMP (Element Vape) Tanker Tank is a sizeable tank, measuring 25mm in diameter. The Tanker utilizes high-quality stainless steel materials with precision machining that gives it the “feel” of a tank costing a whole lot more. The juice reservoir, once again, 5mL, is accessed by way of the threaded top-fill top cap that makes it not only convenient to access, but easy as well. No fancy twists and turns, just a simple, but brilliantly smooth threading, between the top cap and the tank, returns us to simpler times, but with 2017+ precision.

The short wide-bore drip tip is thick, sturdy, and stays cool even at the highest wattages. This surprised me as even my old favorites got warm above 125W.

Each set of large coils included in the box of the Vaping AMP The Tanker is are two high-wattage 0.15ohm Vertical Coils using organic cotton and Kanthal A1 wire. Each is rated for vaping between 50 to 180W.

During my review period, I vaped The Tanker with a variety of e-liquids and found most of them to vape “optimally” at 90-95W. Optimally for me means being able to vape for long periods of time without coughing, something I do when I vape above 140W, but when Vaping AMP say these coils can handle 180W, they mean it.

Vaping AMP brings 100% cross-compatibility with The Tanker when users attach any of the TFV8 Replacement Coils (except for “M” class). While I love the TFV8 Coils, I’ll happily tell you that the native Vaping AMP Coils are every bit as effective with clouds and flavor.

The Airflow for The Tanker enters the tank structure through two 11mm by 2mm air slots. The knurled bottom base on The Tanker allow for precision adjustments so the user can fine-tune their ‘vape’ to increase clouds, or focus tightly for flavor.

Using The Tanker with wide open airflow sucks in and vaporizers the e-liquid rather quickly, but that’s to be expected. Tanks like this one are not the right choice for those that do not want to vape up 15mL or more every day. As a heavy Vaper, I go through 25mL or more on some days, no more and no less than when I use a SMOK TFV8 Cloud Beast or the TFV12 Cloud Beast King.

The Tanker is available in Black, Stainless, Gun Metal, and Neo-Chrome Rainbow. The hefty weight is matched by the hefty price tag of $39.95. For an American Made Sub-Ohm Tank of this quality I will proudly continue to lay out $40 for a tank that is outstanding on every level.

No doubt The Tanker by Vaping AMP is a powerful addition to the competitive Sub-Ohm Tank user base, and with compatibility of the SMOK TFV8 line of coils, the Vaping AMP The Tanker by Rig Mod is most definitely an A+ tank for cloud chasers using prebuilt replacement coils. Is it perfect? That depends on the user; but while using it for two weeks I tried hard to think of ways Vaping AMP could improve on The Tanker, and after adding everything up, I couldn’t think of a thing.

As for the right Mod to use with a tank like this one, one capable of a wide wattage range, I went for the beautiful WISMEC Reuleaux Gen3, a mod capable of handing the entire range, and look good doing it. The Tanker fit the Reuleaux perfectly as well, making this mod one of the best choices, but certainly not the only mod to put under The Tanker.
