The SMOK G-PRIV 2 LUXE Edition is an advanced version of recently released, and recently reviewed, SMOK G-PRIV 2. This new G-PRIV sports a 2.0” OLED touchscreen, dual-18650 cells, and now ships with the SMOK TFV12 Prince in the Kit version instead of the X-Baby Sub-Ohm Tank. The Luxe Edition sports the same 230W of output power as well.
In fact, the new G-PRIV 2 LUXE is virtually identical on the inside, while the biggest changes are to the luxurious chassis and new Tank, though the dimensions of the LUXE Edition are identical to the G-PRIV 2. SMOK has created a unique “prismatic” finish in several optional colors that are supposed to give the LUXE Edition an almost 3D appearance made of thousands of tiny prisms. (See photos)
In addition, the G-PRIV-2 LUXE features the same large 2.0-inch IPS 200PPI Hi-Res OLED touchscreen that is sensitive enough to set and adjust every option on the display with a just a slight touch of the finger. This latest screen is equipped with a digital clock, and in order to avoid accidentally altering any settings, SMOK has integrated an independent lock/unlock button on the side of the mod, which will lock the screen, but still allow the user to fire the mod.
Once the user activates the HD OLED screen, it will display an abundance of information, all of which is intuitive enough to make using and adjusting your mod quick and easy. Setting and viewing the current wattage, choosing the mode you want the mod to use, such as temperature setting, the output current, resistance of the atomizer coil, the remaining battery life of each individual battery, and the number of puffs taken to date. (The puff counter even enables the user to limit the number of puffs, according to your specifications as well.)
The SMOK G-PRIV 2 LUXE features the same firmware upgradability of the G-PRIV 2. By using the included USB cable, you can connect the device to any desktop or laptop computer, or USB/Electrical Outlet Strip, and download the latest firmware updates with a Mac or PC.
The LUXE is loaded with safety features and multiple safeguards, including Reverse Polarity Protection, Low Voltage Protection, High Voltage Protection, Low Resistance Protection, Short Circuit Protection, and Overheating Protection.
As expected, SMOK is moving forward by the instant success of the TFV12 Prince Tank, and quickly upgrading their best Mod Vape Kits with the new Prince Sub-Ohm Tank. While the G-PRIV 2 was only released a short while ago, it’s interesting to note that the Kit used the X-Baby Tank, and the newly upgraded LUXE Edition sports the TFV12 Prince and a new prismatic finish, for about the same retail price.
What we will be waiting to see is if SMOK has placed an ‘End of Life’on the G-PRIV 2 Kit, or if it will continue to offer it at a discounted price. We can imagine the LUXE Edition not cannibalizing the sales of the previous G-PRIV 2, it just doesn’t make much sense to buy that Kit over the one that offers the Prince Tank. At the same time, if you recently invested in the SMOK G-PRIV 2 with the X-Baby Sub-Ohm Tank, it’s not worth buying the LUXE version for the new finish and Prince Tank. (Just buy the Prince if you haven’t already.)
While we hope the SMOK G-PRIV 2 LUXE Edition hits shelves in the US before December 25th, we’re not yet certain that it will. We will continue to work with our partners to make sure you hear about any newly announced ETA.
Stay tuned for our in-depth review as soon as we get our shipment and have had a little time to check it out. When it becomes available you can buy it directly from Vapor Authority
