We owe you an apology, true believers! After not seeing new Innokin products for several months, we received two killer kits from the stalwart vape company within a few weeks of one another. But, while we were falling in love with the MVP5 kit, we completely forgot the downright sexy Innokin Adept & Zlide MTL kit.
Hey, we’re human. But, better late than never, right? Let’s dive in and take a closer look at a pretty damn sharp MTL kit for the masses. First, the specs.
Official Description of the Innokin Adept & Zlide
The Innokin ADEPT & ZLIDE Tank Starter Kit is a compact and distinguished travel friendly vaping starter kit. Implementing an intelligent coil resistance identification system, IP67 International Protection Marking rating, and paired with the impressive Innokin ZLIDE D22 Tank for a starter kit combination that is incredibly flavor-focused and user-friendly.
Construction or Coils
Constructed from durable zinc-alloy, the Innokin ADEPT houses an impressive integrated 3000mAh rechargeable battery within the chassis construction, protecting the valuable powerhouse of the ADEPT with the IP rated exterior shell. In addition, a proprietary chipset provides advanced intelligent detection systems to identify and adjust the wattage range to suit any Zenith tank or series coil from the Z-Coil Line, auto-selecting the ideal optimized wattage range.
Rated IP67 from the International Protection Marking by the International Electrotechnical Commission, the Innokin ADEPT & ZLIDE Tank Starter Kit provides an excellent degree of intrusion prevention from water, accidental contact, and dust, elongating the lifespan of the protected box mod or starter kit.

Impressions/Aesthetics of the Innokin Adept & ZLIDE Tank
There are a ton of good-looking vape kits out there. But very few really catch your attention and keep it over time. Yet, a few weeks after getting the Adept kit in the mail, I make sure it stays front and center in my collection. Yeah, I may not be an avid MTL vaper, but that hasn’t stopped me from showing off a little with this device.
My “Sky” patterned test model is covered in a resin (or resin-like), waterproof and dustproof exterior, and it’s nothing short of glorious. Sure, we’ve seen a bunch of resin devices come through these offices, but very few balance that soft-velvety feel with a true sense of durability. Yet, that’s exactly what Innokin delivers with the Adept, in a very big way.
Beyond the eye candy, the Adept is pleasingly simple. Because this is a “smart” direct wattage output mod, there’s only a minimalist display on hand, with a basic power bar readout that also gives warning indications when applicable. Bookending this minimal screen is a rock-solid fire key and an adjustment button, done in shiny silver.
The 510 connection keeps the durability at the forefront, seamlessly matching up with both the companion Zlide tank and a wealth of other MTL atomizers. While the matched pairing is the best way to enjoy this kit, the Adept plays nicely with other tanks, with the wattage output adjusting effortlessly to keep up with the coil.
Standout Feature (okay, it’s the tank)
The 22mm Zlide D22 tank is a real winner for MTL vapers. While it seems like more and more atomizers are coming to market with multiple uses for a wider range of users, the Zlide honors its famous endorsers by staying true to the mouth-to-lung style of vaping. I suppose you could try and put the Zlide to work as a restricted lung atomizer, since it’s technically compatible with Innokin’s entire Z-Coil lineup, but if you want this kit to work as intended, stick to MTL use and you won’t be disappointed.
Included in the box are the following:
Yes, that first coil is technically “sub-ohm” but with a 13-16 watt maximum output, don’t expect this coil to fog your office in thick vapor. True to form, the 3D mesh coil is a flavor-first head that produces respectable vapor, but that’s clearly not the primary purpose here. The vapor IS quite warm despite the low wattage output on the Adept, and should satisfy those looking for a complete “smoking-like” experience.
Vaping the Innokin Adept & Zlide Tank Kit
Simple, unadulterated flavor. This is what Innokin intended for the Adept kit, and the mod delivers in spades. Though vapers near me (in the gorgeous hamlet of Rhode Island) may soon not have flavor to enjoy at all, while I still have an e-liquid collection, I’m going to put it to work in the Adept kit.
I started with the sub-ohm head, using a fairly viscous 70/30, VG/PG ratio, and the results were pretty good. The Adept quickly amped up the power output to match the low resistance, and the coil kept up with the thicker juice for ~98% of my testing. There WERE a few occasions when chain vaping gave me a slight dry hit, but considering I was pushing the Adept and Zlide D22 well beyond its intended use, I was satisfied.
The 1.6-ohm head was a different story. Using a 50/50 freebase juice I only break out for pod testing (I’m really not a fan of nic salts, no matter how often I need to use them for this gig), I enjoyed flawless wicking, flavor and vapor, even when cranking on the Adept non-stop. The Z-Coils have always been impressive, but this application might be the best use case for the series.
If there’s ANY complaints about the Adept kit is that its 3,000mAh integrated battery isn’t all that strong. Oh, it’ll get you through a good chunk of a workday with moderate use, but I noticed that the battery life starts to drop off the plateau earlier than expected. The good news is that power output never fluctuated while in use, but I won’t lie and say I wasn’t disappointed by the middling battery life.
Maybe we’re just too spoiled by the fantastic battery performance on the MVP5, but this was a rare black mark on a device that really doesn’t have many.
Pros:
- Gorgeous, durable exterior
- Quick ramping, smart wattage detector
- The tank and coils are MTL dream machines
Cons:
- Poor battery life
- Works best as a pairing
- Not a tremendously versatile kit
