iJOY Elite PS2170 Single-Battery Box Mod Preview

With the recent resurgence of mouth-to-lung (MTL) vaping, and an increased focus on simplicity, it’s no surprise that we’ve started to see single-battery, lower-wattage devices start popping up to the forefront. And the iJOY Elite PS2170 single-battery box mod kit might be the sleekest one we’ve seen yet.

This silver and black 100-watt beauty just arrived on our desks, with a kit that brings everything a vaper needs to get started, including a proven Captain Mini sub-ohm tank, and a powerful 3,750mAh 21700 battery, right in the box. It’s a tremendous value for new and experienced vapers alike.

Let’s take a closer peek at the iJOY Elite PS2170 single-battery box mod kit, to see what else the company is bringing to the table.

When you open the classy wood-paneled packaging, the Elite is immediately identifiable as an iJOY product, yet has a more streamlined, mature feel to it. At just a hair under 81mm tall, the Elite isn’t exactly short, but the 43mm width and 27mm depth make it extremely pocketable and comfortable in the hand, without ever feeling too weighty or bulky.

That said, the signature iJOY aesthetics are in place – starkly contrasting colors, oversized fire button, and a tall 0.96-inch display that elegantly displays pertinent information in an easily legible format. While I’m sure other color combinations will be more traditionally “iJOY-flavored,” our silver and black test model looked more like a vape mod for executives than those seeking attention from their devices.

One item of concern is the one-piece “rocker-style” up/down control button. While we have complete confidence in iJOY’s quality craftsmanship, we’ve had mixed experiences with these types of buttons in the past. We plan to test this control scheme for accuracy and responsiveness during our review.

Finally (and thankfully) the Elite’s USB charge and upgrade port is front-mounted, even though the mod is fairly slender. You are likely well-aware of our thoughts on bottom-mounted USB ports, so this is a welcome design decision from iJOY.

This fairly diminutive mod is being positioned as an entry-level product, but in reality, I can see more-advanced vapers grabbing the iJOY Elite PS2170 single-battery box mod kit as a pocket-friendly, mid-powered device. The potential of all-day battery life and 100-watt power in such a compact package is hard to ignore.

Also, the “entry-level” tag might be doing a disservice to all of the onboard features and design decisions. In addition to power mode, the Elite also offers a full temperature control suite, two TCR memory slots, puff power intensity adjustments, standby mode and more. There is currently no bypass mode implemented into the system, but we can imagine a firmware update adding this down the line.

In a nice touch, the iJOY Elite PS2170 single-battery box mod not only comes with a 21700 cell, but can also accommodate 20700 and 18650 (with included sleeve adapter) batteries. Though we’re not completely sold on all of these new battery variants, it’s nice to see iJOY continue to support all formats, so people aren’t left out in the cold.

We’ll be sure to test battery life and performance in all three formats, to determine if the Elite can hit the 100-watt mark with any battery type, or if that mark is only achievable with the larger cells.

This already full-valued kit also provides buyers with the small, but high-performing Captain Mini sub-ohm tank, alongside two coils. We’ve tested countless variants from the Captain tank and RTA series, and expect the 3.2mL Mini to provide ample performance.

Even with the reduced size, the Captain Mini tank still features the series’ signature grooved, heat-dissipating design, sliding top-fill, and butter-smooth AFC ring.

Of course, given the 28mm width of the Elite, users can use 25mm atomizers without concern of overhang, or looking imbalanced. We’ve already tried a few different combinations, and enjoyed how the  iJOY Elite PS2170 looked and performed with each.

All in all, we’re pretty excited about this surprisingly low-key, mid-range mod kit from iJOY. While the slimmer, less-bold, more mature design speaks to an entry-level setup, the iJOY Elite PS2170 single-battery box mod kit offers a high level of sophistication and value for any type of vaper.
