Intro and Specs for the Falcon Beak Kit
Certain products lend themselves to being referred to like a nickname. “I’m gonna drive the Benz today.” “Fire up the Weber and make some burgers.” “Nice Ray-Bans you’ve got there, Reverend!” Well, that doesn’t seem to apply to vape products, because lord knows you’ll never hear me shout, “Grab your Beak and prepare for adventure!”
But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t check out this kit. Though I’ve never been a fan of tube mods OR mechanical vape devices, the HorizonTech Falcon Beak Kit does a lot of things right for this kind of setup, if a vape pen is your style. Let’s check out the details.
The HorizonTech FALCON BEAK Starter Kit is a performance vape pen system, integrating a 3000mAh battery, utilization of the Falcon Coil Series, and paired with the visually-striking Horizon FALCON Sub-Ohm Tank. Initially measuring in at 88mm tall, without the atomizer, the Falcon BEAK is a continuous voltage output box mod, firing between 3.2-4.2V, dependent on the current charge of the battery. Measuring 3000mAh for battery capacity, the integrated battery is housed within and non-removable, allowing for less auxiliary vaping equipment, and bundling everything into a simplified portable package.

Initial Impressions and Aesthetics of the Falcon Beak
There’s not a hell of a lot to say here – like the homemade mechanical mods of yesteryear, the Beak is literally an 88mm tall aluminum tube mod, with no visual adornments or accents, save for the rainbow-effect finish on my test model. But even that oil-stain aesthetic seems stripped down here, thanks to a tube that’s operated by a single button, without any displays or logos to get in the way.
Impressions… (cont)
In short, if you’re tired of seeing ANYTHING on your vape mods, the Falcon Beak is a good starting point.
So, I guess we can say “hey, the fire button is nice!” or “wow, what a shiny finish on the device body!” Both statements are true, but that’s why we have pictures here, after all.
The goal here is simple, no-frills functionality, and in that sense, HorizonTech hits the mark. Using the integrated 3,000mAh battery, the Beak is a continuous, direct-voltage device that functions much like a mechanical mod, in that power output is based entirely on battery life. There’s even a “mech mode” that lets users get a full mechanical experience, if that type of vaping is preferable.
Mech-Like?
But in its native settings, the Beak delivers mech-like vaping in a package that’s protected head to toe, from low voltage and overheating measures, all the way to a cutoff feature that keeps users from over-taxing the mod beyond its capabilities.
To be honest, I may never go back to this type of vaping, but at least mechanical experiences have evolved to a point where newcomers can dabble without much risk.
Standout Features of the Falcon Beak Vape Pen
What’s interesting is that HorizonTech paired this bare bones vape mod with one of its many top-flight vape tanks, the Falcon Resin Sub-Ohm Tank.
This outstanding, flavorful atomizer is 25mm wide, and can use virtually any of the myriad Falcon coils available at finer retailers nationwide. We won’t go into too much detail here, since we’ve covered these tanks 1,000 times before.
However, if you’re new here, know that HorizonTech tanks and coils consistently live at the top of our “best of” roundups, because they flat out work, time and time again.
What’s interesting is that companies usually pair specific tanks and coils for direct-voltage use, but the Falcon coils seem to be perfectly matched for this style of vaping, even if the wattage recommendations on the coils don’t make much sense in this context. It’s a testament to just how durable and versatile these heads really are.
Flavor? Check. Longevity? Check. Vapor? Cloudy Check.
We know we rave about a lot of coils, but if you’re new to sub-ohm vaping, consider the Falcon to be a VERY high barometer to base your purchases upon.
Vaping the HorizonTech Falcon Beak Kit
One thing I noticed right away is that the Falcon Beak is a very heavy device. Despite a pocket-friendly form factor and no unnecessary design elements, the 3,000mAh battery weighs this down considerably. Long story short? You’ll know this is in your pocket, no matter how you sit or stand.
Top Heavy
Another unfortunate realization about the Falcon Beak? (And this is for all pen/tube mods, not just the Beak.) No matter what tank you use, the device is immediately top-heavy, making it a risk to stand when you’re at a bar or restaurant. And, while the companion tank sits perfectly atop the mod, with no overhang or gaps, other tanks and RDAs will likely jut out a bit if they’re anywhere near 25mm wide. And anything smaller/narrower will look out of place.
It’s hardly a deal breaker, but if seamless appearance is important to you, we recommend keeping the kit intact, as HorizonTech intended.
Now that this is out of the way, let’s get to the vaping.
Because the Falcon Beak it’s such a simple setup, I basically prepped the preinstalled coil and started vaping within seconds. And you know what? It worked flawlessly, in terms of vape quality.
Even when the integrated battery was depleting a bit, I still enjoyed rapid-fire draws and smooth, potent puffs of flavorful vapor. As someone who still tests mech mods on occasion, this consistent output was a nice touch, even for a device looking to replicate that no-frills experience. Once the battery got too low, the device flashed a dim LED warning, and it was time to recharge via the side-mounted USB port.
I also noticed the warnings all worked as intended, putting some initial fears to rest. The 10-second cutoff was assertive and immediate, which is a major plus, as is the overheating protection. Unfortunately, the bare metal exterior DOES heat up to somewhat uncomfortable levels, but the cutoff worked once I started pushing the Beak beyond its comfort zone. (Pro Tip: Don’t do this. Just don’t.)
Gripes?
My only gripe? The Beak’s battery life isn’t all that great. Direct-voltage devices never last as long as fully regulated mods, but the Beak still sits at the lower end of the longevity spectrum. I managed to get a few hours of solid vaping before having the recharge – nothing tragic, but hardly newsworthy, either. It’s great while it lasts, but if you’re planning a long day out, the Beak might not be the best option.
Pros:
– Excellent, responsive protection suite
– Mech-like power when fully charged
– Outstanding companion tank
Cons:
– This style of vaping is still for experienced users
– Awfully heavy and topple-prone
– Bad battery life
Spinfuel VAPE Recommendation and Score
Longtime readers know that we’re all about safety and education, so the HorizonTech Falcon Beak is an odd recommendation for us. While we always prefer a display to know what the mod is doing, or what might be going wrong, HorizonTech has made a mech-like device that operates safely, so all levels of Vapers can try without worry. Still, vape pens just don’t do it for many Vapers, despite the fact that there are SO many brands and models on the market at any given time.
This might not be our favorite style of vaping or device, but there’s no denying that the Falcon Beak kit is arguably one of the best way to do it.
