Enter the Geek Vape Aegis Boost. Though this 40-watt, advanced-chipset, fully adjustable, airflow-controlled AIO device isn’t really a pod mod by classic standards, the true ease of use and “plug and play” simplicity put it in the equation. And the rugged, waterproof exterior, top-tier design and responsive power make it an Aegis, through and through.
Let’s see why, starting with the fine print.
Shop the new Geek Vape Aegis BOOST 40W Pod Mod, the newest addition to the Aegis line. Reincarnated as a pod mod system, featuring the advanced AS Chipset, a large 1500mAh rechargeable battery. The Boost maintains the shockproof, waterproof, and dust-proof IP67 Rating.
Construction
“ADVERTISEMENT”
Constructed from durable zinc-alloy, leather, and silicone, the chassis of the Geek Vape BOOST is impressively strong and secure. Shockproofing, dustproofing, and waterproofing make this a reliable pod mod for any situation, while the advanced AS Chipset at the helm provides rapid and near-instantaneous firing speeds.
1500mAh Internal Battery
Equipped with a large 1500mAh battery, this pod mod can provide plenty of satisfying clouds of vapor in between charges. Featuring a 3.7mL e-juice refillable pod, the Geek Vape Aegis BOOST can be refilled via silicone stoppered top fill system, accepts coils in a plug ‘n’ play manner, while adjusting the airflow dial to find the perfect airflow rate for your preferred style of vaping.

Aesthetics of the Aegis Boost
Though it’s a bit bulky for a pod mod, the Aegis Boost is surprisingly ergonomic, considering the overall heft. The rubberized coating and leather grip definitely add some weight, but the Aegis Legend never feels heavy. It just feels durable.
Also, the mod feels fantastic in the hand. Whether you hold your mod in a left or right hand, trigger or thumb grip, Geek Vape has your back. In other words, there aren’t too many ways to hold the Aegis Boost incorrectly, and I’ve never felt more “at home” with a higher-end AIO/pod mod than I did with this one, after such a short duration.
One of the coolest features about the Aegis Boost is its IP67 water-resistant, dustproof exterior, aiming itself at an outdoorsy crowd. Okay, maybe that’s a stretch, but I can see vapers who work in factories, farms or otherwise dusty and potentially messy environments finding something to love here. And of course, the now-standard premium leather grip adds a sense of distinction to the durability.
A few Notes on the Aegis Boost
As convenient as the press-fit pod connection system is, it’s also where I’ve encountered one of the biggest cons while using the Aegis Boost. The connection needs to be stronger to really work with this design. Without much effort at all, the pod is too-easily separated from the base of the device. A few times I’ve reached in my pocket and pulled out only a pod instead of the whole unit.
My other gripe about the pod section is how dark the pod is. Having to hold the device up to a light source to see how much e-liquid is left in the pod is always inconvenient. This, plus the tiny top fill slot, leaves a little to be desired.
Vaping the Geek Vape Aegis Boost
It’s weird to type this considering how Geek Vape planned the mod, but the Aegis Boost is STILL a more-capable MTL device than it is as a true sub-ohm rig. Though the coils are interchangeable the Aegis Boost just never really lends itself to true direct lung use. Sure, the mod can produce respectable clouds, but pushing this thing to its 40-watt limit just to fog a small room is missing the point. When employing restricted airflow, the results are flavor-focused, and any other use isn’t really recommended.
Before you ask, yes, we’ve seen the videos from several noted vaping personalities, but truthfully, we were never able to find that balance of sub-ohm cloud-age with flavor we felt was adequate. Our largest clouds were met by muted, off flavors, and we’re just not comfortable with that.
Aegis Boost as an MTL Vape
As an MTL device the Aegis Boost performs beautifully. With the combination of the small coils and airflow the draw is restricted and flavorful without leaning too far in that direction. There are two drip tips included in the box, and both are pretty snug, with the rounded version offering a touch more wind than the flattened design.
One annoyance was the coil installation and removal. While installation was suitably “press it and forget it” the removal is another story entirely. With a pair of fingertips, it took me a good while to get a coil out so I could install a fresh one. Yes, Geek Vape included a tool to help the process, but in 2020, do we really need a mini wrench to fulfill a “plug and play” promise? No, no we don’t.

- Press-To-Fit Pod Connection
But, putting aside “reviewer minutiae,” as a portable, flavor heavy AIO mod, the Aegis Boost delivers satisfying draws and long-lasting coils, which is likely more than enough for most buyers.
Finally, the 1,500 mAh battery is pretty darn good, giving us a full day of steady vaping under normal, MTL use, and some occasional sub-ohm endeavors. I imagine smokers and lighter vapers will get more, but heavy sub-ohm use should cut those estimates dramatically. However, the Aegis Boost charges quickly enough for a standard USB connection, and we only wish a USB-C option was there to speed things up.
Pros:
– Gorgeous, brand-appropriate exterior
– Strong coil performance
– Outstanding build quality
Cons:
– Not really a good sub-ohm mod, even if they push it that way
– Dark pods limit visibility
– Weak pod connection
Bottom Line
The AS chipset and intelligent TC coil functionality there’s an argument that the Aegis Boost is a little better and more versatile than the rest of the pod mod pack. But there’s also an argument that it’s simply another super-compact pod(ohm) device that is best experienced as an MTL experience. Still, it’s a hugely capable MTL device, and one that will likely appear on more than a few “year-end” lists at the close of 2020.
