He’s spent the last few years doing build tutorials, product reviews and is a prime advocate for the fight against unfair vaping regulations by the FDA. Rip has partnered with Digiflavor, a Geek Vape subsidiary and crafted a new, innovative RDA/RTA that is an absolute blast to build and vape on! This past month, I’ve been consumed by the Pharaoh Dripper Tank and putting it through its paces is an understatement. Does the Pharaoh live up to the hype? ($31.95 at Element Vape!)

Pharaoh Dripper Tank – In Detail

The Digiflavor Pharaoh Dripper Tank (a Rip Trippers Project) is 25mm top to bottom and made from high grade Stainless Steel. I received the Black variation from Spinfuel for review but I’ll be ordering the Stainless Steel version soon. One of the biggest standout features that make the Pharaoh different from the rest is the spring-loaded shelf and clamp-style build deck. By loosening the Philips screw on each post (a Tri-Tool is included), it releases the spring tension and the clamp rises, staying in place. Place your leads in (approximately 4.8mm x 3.3mm of room for each lead) and each bottom block has a small lip on each side so your coils don’t get shoved out when maneuvering, tightening or adjusting your coil. The simplicity and ease of installing your coils is unreal and can be done in just a minute or two.

The 2ml eJuice reservoir underneath the build deck is well designed and excellent to have at your disposal. Filling it is really easy and can be done on one side or both. I put the bottle tip into one of the sides, tilt it about 45 degrees and fill until I see the opposite side creeping to the top. You don’t need to fill both sides since the reservoir flows all the way through the bottom but you can if you want. One full 120ml dropper fills the base for the most part and was my way of quickly filling it without having to be careful not to overflow the channels. If you do overfill it, there’s a small channel that runs the perimeter of the build deck that the juice will circle around the outside of the posts and eventually your cotton will absorb it. Everything about this deck and juice control system was thought through and all parties paid close attention to details.

After you fill the base, there is a small lever that controls the rotating slip plate for adjusting the size of your wicking ports. By moving the lever to the right, you close off the juice canals and cinch that gap between the cotton and where you filled your eJuice. Plenty of times I’ve filled the juice well completely full, forget to shut off the juice control and still got no leaking whatsoever! You only want to lightly make contact with your cotton and not close it all the way down, strangling your fluffy cotton and smashing into one side. The slip-plate only closes about 75% of the way but if you treat your cotton delicately, the Pharaoh wicks extraordinarily well.

The airflow system is a very effective design and works even better than it looks. Triple 5mm x 2.5mm rectangle airflow holes arranged along the center of the build deck sit directly under your coils. The three bottom airflow holes feed air up through the base and through each air slot. You have the option of having one, two or all three open with each giving you a much different vape experience. You will notice a faint whistle when you close the airflow down to one or two slots open; something to keep in mind. The airflow control ring rotates super smooth, clicks easily and stops at each setting and when opened or closed. Most of the time I was running a big, single coil so all three slots stayed open consistently. The 510 connection threads are very precisely machined and attached nice and flush to a variety of devices throughout the last few weeks. The Gold-plated 510 pin ensures connectivity issues are non-existent.

The top cap is made of one solid piece of Stainless Steel and threads onto the base effortlessly. I did get some slight squeaking at the beginning but faded with several weeks of use. There’s a seam that runs around the top which I originally thought unscrewed but in fact doesn’t. Two drip tips were supplied (and a 510 drip tip adapter) with one having a built-in spit back protection screen and the other wide open. Both are 11.4mm ID (14.4mm outside diameter) Delrin drip tips that are held snug and secure into the top cap with two O-rings. I never had a struggle trying to remove either and also held tight enough with no play. The spit back drip tip was my personal choice since it works flawlessly eliminating any potential spitting while not restricting much more airflow that the wide open variant. I was able to push to some extreme wattages knowing that any popping or potential spitting wouldn’t shoot eJuice fireworks into my mouth. Surprisingly I experienced very little condensation throughout the drip tip or around the bottom airflow holes.

Building with the Pharaoh Dripper Tank

The Pharaoh Dripper Tank’s wonderful build deck is fun to build on. With three standard builds to choose from (and many more if you’re creative), a single coil, dual coils running in tandem (so the wick runs through both creating a bridge) and dual parallel sitting side by side. The first build was to test how many pulls I could get from a freshly primed and full reservoir. The single 0.26Ω Fused Clapton coil freshly wicked with Native Wicks Platinum Cotton taking 3-second pulls at 80W I was able to squeeze 25 hits until I started getting a muted taste. The flavor is top notch with a single coil build and the clouds produced were dense and milky white!

The dual Clapton build was also simple to install but because of the wicking method having to travel straight through both coils, the middle ‘bridge’ section had trouble staying saturated. Don’t get me wrong, I could still get a few great pulls at 100W without a dry hit but chain vaping is where this build was struggling. The performance didn’t compare to the single coil setup one bit. I did enjoy installing dual coils but it was more of a showcase rather than a performance driven outcome. Low ohm, large single coils is where the Pharaoh Dripper Tank really excels. The flavor from a single coil is fantastic and I haven’t run dual coils since. The top cap, base and drip tip never got overly hot. My wattage stayed consistently over 100W the past week or two and I’ve never had any trouble with heat problems.

When wicking the Pharaoh, simply tuck your wicks to the opposite side of the slip plate. I fill half the juice canal with cotton so I leave myself plenty of room to fill the base up. Every single time I wicked it, no matter if I used premium cotton or cotton squares it was able to consistently and efficiently keep my cotton saturated without a dry hit in sight (with single coil builds mind you). With the wide open airflow and the ability to take 20+ pulls without filling it up again was why I’ve been attached to the Pharaoh Dripper Tank for a while now. Honestly, I’ve installed over 10 builds and rewicked certain ones multiple times because it’s so easy with those tension spring clamps; it really makes it foolproof and anyone, beginner or advanced can build on the Pharaoh!

A couple subjective cons headed your direction since nothing is perfect. Be careful when unscrewing the clamps. If you loosen them enough where the screw comes out, the single spring is just sitting in between and will fall out very easily. I took mine out just to see the build quality and I spent the next 15 minutes searching for a tiny spring on my carpet. There are no replacements in the box either so if you lose it, you’ve got a Pharaoh paperweight. Some vapers have complained of the O-ring that seals the top cap to the build deck has snapped multiple times and is why Digiflavor includes several extras. I’ve been using mine every day and I haven’t had that issue at all. The O-ring doesn’t even show any signs of wear or potential of breaking for that matter.

Final Grade – A

“The Digiflavor Pharaoh Dripper Tank provides that robust RDA flavor profile with the convenience of 2ml of eJuice storage underneath. With no leaking at all since the day I started using it and only $31.95 at Element Vape, this is a must have for anyone that loves throwing clouds and actually tasting their eJuice!
