It’s hard to get excited about new low-wattage pod mods, but when something’s done right, we have to give it credit. The tiny Uwell Caliburn KOKO isn’t offering anything we haven’t seen before. It’s a solid effort from a company known for performance and value.

Let’s dive into the specs…

silver - UWELL CALIBURN KOKO 11W POD SYSTEMThe UWELL Caliburn KOKO Pod System… a finely crafted vaping pod system manufactured with an integrated 520mAh rechargeable battery. Caliburn pod compatibility is good, and can be concealed within the palm of the hand with ease. Constructed from high quality aluminum alloy, the chassis of the UWELL Caliburn KOKO is moderately impact resistant, safely housing the 520mAh rechargeable battery and sporting an exterior matte metallic finish.

Aesthetics of the Caliburn KOKO

Okay, no matter which color scheme you choose, the only thing anyone is going to talk about is the size of the KOKO. We’ve used terms like “compact” many times before, but these things keep getting smaller. The size of a Zippo Lighter, the KOKO could get lost… with minimal effort.

But that’s not a measure of performance. Aimed squarely at mouth-to-lung vapers (including no adjustable airflow) the mod includes a 1.2-ohm Pro-FOCS coil system and a 520mAh battery that should give steady users a good number of draws per charge. And it’s a quick recharge, as well, getting back to speed in under an hour.

Underneath this ridiculously small hood is a proprietary chipset, optimized for the KOKO’s capabilities, and fires instantly when the user draws. In short, the puff quality should remain consistent from first puff to last. That said, the mod definitely maintained a good level of MTL performance during our testing period.

Chassis

A durable chassis is built using the same zinc alloy Uwell uses on their full-sized mods. The slender frame size means it’s not nearly as rugged as larger devices. While a few dings aren’t going to affect the KOKO’s performance, I would be extra careful about stepping on it or even sitting on it at the wrong angle.

Finally, one of my only complaints about the KOKO’s look/feel is a regular complaint — the LED light system to indicate battery level and other notifications. I’ve never liked these setups, but this one is particularly weak, with dim lights and unclear readouts.

As I’ve said countless times before, let’s work harder to find a better way to convey this information without overdoing the pod mod design. Solitary LED lights aren’t getting it done.

Vaping the Uwell Caliburn KOKO

I use nic salt liquids exclusively with the KOKO and was rewarded with some deep, sharp flavors and throat hit. The draw is definitely an MTL pull, and trying to direct lung this mod will only lead to a very bad experience. But when used like a cigarette, the KOKO provides an authentic sensation, with some surprisingly ample vapor quality.

So, yes, you’ll probably be filling more than you would with more reasonably sized pod mods, these cartridges have each lasted me two weeks, which is notably more than competing products.

Battery Life of the Caliburn KOKO

Battery life is “just” okay. However, it is a tiny pod mod.  I’m not surprised the KOKO didn’t last all day. I’m not sure how they crammed a 520mAh battery into this diminutive frame, but they did it, and without any excess heat, even after heavy use. This was a concern we all had when first seeing the mod, and are thrilled to report that it’s not an issue with the KOKO.

So, don’t expect all-day vaping on a single charge, but the chipset seems fairly efficient, and should get you through most of a workday without having to plug in. Of course, once you do recharge, it takes roughly one hour to go from empty to full.

Pros:

– Very good flavor clarity

– Immediate draws

– Strong pod lifespan

Cons:

– It might be TOO small

– 2mL isn’t enough juice capacity

– Enough with the single LED light indicators

Bottom Line

Regular readers know how tired we are of retread pod mods, but overall, we liked the Uwell Caliburn KOKO pod mod system. The excessively small frame and limited juice capacity didn’t excite us. The strong flavor and vape quality is remarkable. If this size appeals to you, give the KOKO a look.
