The UWELL Caliburn & Ironfist L 16W Pod System features a 690mAh battery, 16W output, and employs a 2.5mL Caliburn & Ironfist L pod. Our experience this past week has shown that power and flavor fidelity is fast becoming equivalent to yesterday’s more powerful and expensive mods we used to use every day.
In 2023, the Caliburn & Ironfist pod system is a $25USD, well-made, and extremely enjoyable vape experience making Uwell’s decade long reputation shine even more.,
The Caliburn & Ironfist Details
This marvelous yet small vape device is constructed from a tough zinc-alloy. The chassis of the Caliburn & Ironfist L Pod System is lightweight, with a small footprint, yet as strong as vape mods twice the size.
Equipped with a 690mAh battery, the Caliburn Ironfist L is recharged via the now ubiquitous Type-C USB. Once fully charged, and depending on your vaping style, you can expect a healthily 2-4 hours of use, and a fast, 35-minute (our experience) recharge time.
The Caliburn & Ironfist Pods
The Caliburn & Ironfist L Pod System employs the Caliburn G or G2 Coils that produce lush vapor and exquisite flavor from every flavor of vape juice we put through them. Both freebase nicotine and nicotine-salt e-liquids vaped nicely. Our everyday vape juice has always been a 70/30 VG/PG blend, and with this mod and coils the flavor fidelity was every bit as good as much larger mesh-coil sub-ohm tank we’ve used for years.
With a vape juice capacity of up 2.5mL, the pod is affixed in a side-by-side manner with the battery, adopting the classic SBS format.
At the base of the Caliburn & Ironfist L is an adjustable airflow control switch, allowing users to vape in a RDL or MTL fashion. Opening the airflow allows for massive clouds from this small device.
(Which means that Vapers like me can enjoy the experience of the bigger mods with a small footprint of the smaller pod systems.)

Getting Personal with the Caliburn & Ironfist
We’ve reviewed hundreds of mods and tanks since 2011, beginning back when the cig-a-like, such as Blu Cigs were the most popular vape device around, to the massive Uwell Valyrian mod kit, or one of dozens of SMOK Starter Kits we’ve reviewed that offer more than 200W of power, and sub-ohm coils as low as 0.12-ohms. I call this period the Golden Age of Vaping.
In recent years, vape devices has gotten smaller and smaller, with some stumbling along the way. During the time when many vape companies were stumbling, creating small pod mods that failed to provide older Vapers with a decent way of vaping thicker, freebase nicotine vape juice, we help preserve every sub-ohm tank, every large mod, and keep a backlog of 18650 and 21700 batteries, all to keep us happy while vape companies fixed their mistakes with the first pod mods.
The 2023 Pod Mod System
So far this year we’ve reviewed several pod mod systems that provide better and better vape experiences. As soon as the pod mods began advertising DL (Direct Lung) abilities with freebase nicotine, we understood that the time to take the small pod mod seriously had begun.
The recent Caliburn A3S is a perfect example. A small, thin, pod mod that was able to reproduce a 95% fidelity to the vape juice we use daily in large sub-ohms. It was a real achievement for the pod mods new era.
Today we’re vaping the Caliburn & Ironfist device, and it is providing close to a 99% flavor fidelity with freebase vape juice, and allowing for huge vapor clouds that were once reserved to the larger tanks.
Next week we’ll have a review for the Uwell Crown B, a small system that comes even closer to the large mod starter kits of old. So far, the performance is stunning. But more on that next week.
The $25USD Answer to Real Vaping
The Caliburn & Ironfist may yield just 16W, but it does so in combination with an amazing coil system that brings vapers closer than ever to the true vape experience of years past. In other words, the best companies, like Uwell, have learned to replicate the experience all experienced Vapers wanted, in small, long-lasting, high-quality pod mod systems.
Conclusion
The Caliburn & Ironfist pod mod system is kind of a no-brainer. Looking at the photos that accompany this review, you must admit that at $25 or less, this zinc-alloy elegant pod mod system is worth twice the price for performance alone. This is a pod mod you’ll buy in 2023 and continue to use in 2026.
I enjoyed vaping with the Caliburn & Ironfist pod system a lot more than I thought I would. In fact, at the end of the review period I decided to keep the device and use it as my daytime, at work, vape. It’s inexpensive to buy, and inexpensive to operate. The battery recharges so quickly there’s no need to have a spare (unless you want one), in 20-30 minutes you’re holding a fully recharged mod.
I didn’t review the Caliburn A3S, and I won’t review next week’s Uwell Crown B, so my grade for the Caliburn & Ironfist is based on my experience with larger, more expensive mods and sub-ohm tanks, against this Caliburn & Ironfist pod system. For that, there is no other grade than a solid A+.
I may not have vaped every pod mod system that came out this year, but for all those I have used, nothing has performed better than the Caliburn & Ironfist system.
