I love Squonk Mods. But their form factor has always hindered the potential power of the format. Sure, this month we’ll be reviewing the dual-18650 GeekVape GBOX squonker (available now at Element Vape), which should address this concern (our preview is here). But what about people who want the same portability with a little more power in tow? We may have the answer with the all-new iJOY Capo Squonk 100W 21700 Mod.
With 100 watts of power, the proven Capo form factor, and the reassurance of a potent 3,750mAh 21700 battery behind it, iJOY has crammed an awful lot of potential into a pocket-friendly package. Let’s take a sneak peek to see what the Capo Squonk brings to the party.
Oh Capo, my Capo…
I feel like there are more Capos available than shows about Kardashians (read: a lot). Though each version has been distinct with unique capabilities, the Capo Squonk might be the most unique yet. This compact 21700 Mod retains the same palm-friendly design, which lends itself nicely to squeezing the bottle while firing normally.
(Those of you who struggle with side-squonkers know how difficult that can be from time to time.)
The fully regulated Capo Squonk not only allows for more reliable, safe power output, but also brings a comprehensive temperature control suite to squonkers, which could mean some of the most flavorful vaping to date.
Plus, the iJOY Capo Squonk is a versatile device. Obviously, the preferred method is to use the included 21700 cell. But iJOY isn’t abandoning the rest of us, either, since the Capo Squonk can also accommodate a slimmer 20700 cell, and even a single 18650 with the included adapter. It’s a very comprehensive package that continues iJOY’s recent trend of making new devices more accessible to all its customers.
Why so many battery types? The answer lies in the mAh, (milliamp hours) my friends. While we struggled to see too many benefits of 20700 cells versus more traditional 18650 cells, we’re excited about the potential of the 21700 battery capacity. The included cell is 3,750 mAh, and you just know even larger capacities are on the horizon. This should mean longer times between charges, and more power with each puff.
Power and e-liquid Efficiency
While we need to run a complete test to know if the Capo Squonk is going to be “the” 21700 Mod to complete your collection, early run-throughs have shown it to be a powerful, efficient little device that should have more than enough “oomph” to get even heavier vapers through the day.
And, with a 9mL squonk bottle, you won’t be refilling juice nearly as often, either. Our silver and black test Model came with a bottle that has a nice, recessed “squeeze” area that is extremely pliable and easy to use with one hand. The test kit included a second bottle, as well, though we’re not sure this will be included in the final production Model.
Traditional iJOY Style
Despite the all-new bottom-feeder format, the Capo Squonk retains the signature iJOY look and feel. Sharply contrasting colors frame a bright and sharp OLED display, which is angled here, but is otherwise legible and clear.
Also returning on the Capo Squonk is the fantastic oversized fire key – a highlight of virtually every iJOY product I’ve reviewed since joining the Spinfuel VAPE team. It remains one of the clickiest, most responsive fire buttons around, and it really lends itself well to the Capo Squonk’s comfortable grip.
Traditional iJOY Performance
While it’s difficult to say how much we’ll like the iJOY Capo Squonk over the course of a complete testing, our early impressions are positive. A lot of this has to do with the included iJOY Combo RDA that comes in the Box. Whereas many squonk kits come with average RDAs that feel like throw-ins, the Combo RDA is a proven winner.
Our limited time with this 21700 Mod kit pairing has shown the Combo to be a perfect match, with smooth bottom-feeding action, leak-free filling, and warm, flavorful draws. There’s plenty of testing still to do, with a wide range of coil types, but we’re confident the Combo RDA will be a highlight of the experience.
All in all, we’re excited about the iJOY Capo Squonk 21700 Mod kit. We have more and more squonkers coming in each week, including some seriously powerful new dual-battery devices. But for those seeking a traditional squonk experience, with better power output and battery duration, there’s an awful lot to like about what we’ve seen here.
