Vape Forward Vaporflask Classic

Before you shy away from this review based on what you think it may cost, Element Vape sells the Vaporflask Classic for just $89.99!

At long last I can now bring you the  Vape Forward Vaporflask Classic review. Man, I have to say, now I completely understand why this rush of vape gear that started a couple months back is happening, I understand why we’ve been so many products to review. I think manufacturers had the good sense to see that the FDA and the UK were about to put the Kibosh on vape gear. We’ve been working hard on our reviews, but we won’t let the rush of products cause us to rush through reviews. It takes what it takes, you know?

The Vaporflask Classic

The Vape Forward VaporFlask Classic 150W TC Box Mod is the closest body style to the original Vaporflask. It’s a bit thinner, the batteries are inserted by removing the magnetized back cover instead of the two large battery caps at the bottom, and the high quality finish, especially in white, all add up to an even more beautiful mod than the original. The insides of the Vaporflask Classic are where the major changes are.

Vape Forward made a solid decision to work with WISMEC to assure an even higher level of quality then the original company. WISMEC is that rare company that truly allows the artist in the engineer to shine. I would even go so far as to say that WISMEC seems to be the most altruistic manufacturer of vape gear.

In any case, working with WISMEC has allowed Vape Forward to recreate its classic dual 18650 mod and stuff if with the latest technology developed by WISMEC.

This is MY Vaporflask Classic – White is a gorgeous color for this mod.

The Vaporflask Classic is capable of firing up to 150W (1-150W). The classic also incorporates state of the art temperature sensing and control. Whether you have a penchant for using Nickel (Ni200), Titanium (Ti) or Stainless Steel (SS), the onboard temperature sensing has you covered. However, in an effort to be transparent, the temperature control system is not proprietary to Vape Forward, it’s the WISMEC system found in the Reuleaux, the Presa 100W TC, and other WISMEC mods. Heck, the Vaporflask Classic even has upgradeable firmware for both Mac and PC.

The minimum atomizer resistance is an ultra-low 0.05ohm to 1.5-ohm in TC mode, and 0.1-ohm to 3.5-ohm in Wattage mode. Below is a comprehensive list of the features and specs of the Vape Forward Vaporflask Classic. Afterwards, I’ll discuss the software and basic operation of the Classic, then move to my Real World Report.

The latest Firmware upgrade is V2.00 and it adds compatibility for TC-SS (specifically for SS316 coil) and manual TCR (Temperature Coefficient of Resistance) modes, which changes the resistance range to 0.05-1.5ohm for TC modes. You can also manually adjust the TCR Value for further fine-tuning of the vape experience you want.

Basic Functions and How to Use Them

The Vaporflask Classis uses a 5-click on/off system.

Wattage Mode – Temperature Mode Navigation

With the Vaporflask Classic in ON, click the fire button 4 times to enter the menu. Here you can use the adjustment buttons to move through the various modes; wattage, Bypass, TC-NI, TC-Ti, TC-SS, TC-SS316, and so on.

Wattage Changing while in TC mode: Click the fire button 3 times quickly. The largest numbersVape Forward Vaporflask Classic Review Spinfuel eMagazine on the screen changes to wattage readings and you can increase or decrease wattage while you are in TC mode by using the adjustment buttons. Find the setting you want and click the fire button to get out.

Changing from Centigrade to Fahrenheit is very easy – in whatever mode you happen to be in, increasing the temperature with the adjustment button will take you to the maximum temperature, click one more time and you will change from C to F, or F to C.

Further instructions on the menu operation can be found in the manual. For now, I think the above gives you a proper example of how simple it is to navigate around.

VF CT Software

The software and firmware upgrades and updates are available for both Mac and PC.

Mac Users: When you go to install the software you will probably be met with a Security Alert that tells you the software cannot be installed because it isn’t supplied from a secured source.

Vape Forward Vaporflask Classic Review Spinfuel eMagazineTo fix this, go into the System Preferences and click on Security & Privacy. The first window you see is “General”. At the bottom you’ll see “Allow apps downloaded from:” and 3 choices. The default on Macs is “Mac App Store and identified developers.” Since WISMEC and Vape-Forward are not identified developers for Apple, choose the “Anywhere” option. You’ll be cautioned about your choice, but go ahead and choose it, you can always change it back when you’re done. You should too, in order to prevent installation of malware.

Once you’ve done this, you’re ready to install any updates that come out for any Vape-Forward device.

Note* When you download the software for the first time you’ll click the Update button and it will navigate to the folder containing updates for all Vape Forward devices. In this case, choose the Classic zip file. If you already have version 2.0 firmware you don’t need to do this, if you don’t, choosing the zip file will update the Classic in less than two seconds. Before detaching your device, Exit the software, then detach the USB cable.

The Version 2 update allows for manual TCR input, and increase the ohms’ resistance in TC mode to 1.5-ohms. To get into the manual TCR adjustment menu, you have to do the following:

With the device off, hold the fire button and up for four/five seconds.  You can navigate between 3 memory presets, hit fire on which one you want to adjust, then you will be in the TCR values field.  Then the up/down buttons adjust it for you. Click the Fire button again to set the value.

Only set the value when you are certain of the TCR value you want. For instance, the TCR Value for the new Tungsten-equipped Horizon Krixus is 0450.

Accessing TCR function: With the device off, hold the fire and up button for 5 seconds. Use the fire button to access the number adjustment and the up button to adjust. Hit the fire button again then the up button allows you to navigate through the memory settings.

Real World Report

I feel awful that I’ve had the Vaporflask Classic for so long that I didn’t even have the latest firmware installed. So, the first thing I did was update the firmware to v2.0.

When you pick it up for the first time you’ll notice, if you’ve never held an original Vaporflask, is how nicely the curved mod fits the hand. I hold mine with the curve leading into my palm, giving me easy access to the buttons on the front of the mod, and a quick twist of the wrist gives me a glance at the Vape Forward Vaporflask Classic Review Spinfuel eMagazineOLED display. I can’t think of any reason for anyone not to love the way it feels.

Even with two 18650 batteries the weight is balanced, and a lot lighter than something like the Smoant Knight V1.  I can’t really verify the metal used in the body, but if I had to guess it’s either all Stainless Steel or an aluminum alloy. Not that it matters, it feels durable, strong, and it’s not heavy, all good things.

All three Vape Forward Vaporflask devices are designed with maximum comfort in mind. Unlike some devices, Vaporflask mods always feel great when holding them.

During the review period I used several sub-ohm tanks. Each tank operated as expected, and all the 22mm tanks fit flush. The 510 connector is spring-loaded Stainless Steel and just about every tank had a flush bottom fit.

Putting in, and replacing batteries is so much easier than the original Vaporflask, but maybe not as aesthetically cool. I love those copper end caps despite being a slight pain in the ass to unscrew them. With the Vaporflask Classic you simply pull off the magnetized door, which is the size of the entire device. The negative battery posts are also spring-loaded, making it very easy to insert and remove. I wish all devices used this method.

I always use Sony VT4’s or VT5’s, although the Samsung 25R work really well too. You do need a high-amp battery to maintain that 150W of power output, but who doesn’t have high-amp batteries these days? 18650 batteries last maybe a year, so by now all the batteries still is service are most likely 25-amps and above.

Naturally, the vape experience is going to depend heavily on the tank you use. The Vaporflask Classic puts out plenty of power, manages ultra-low resistances, but the tank and the coils used matter just as much. So, in that case, I don’t feel the need to discuss the vapor or flavor because that’s the tank’s responsibility. I will say, however, that the VF Tank by Vape Forward is a damn good tank and is worthy of sitting atop the Classic.

The Vaporflask Classic provides plenty of venting so whatever I was using the mod never got very warm at all. The crystal clear glass over the OLED display is gorgeous, and the stainless steel polished buttons feel expensive and work flawlessly. This is truly a Vaporflask product.

Conclusion

Vape Forward Vaporflask Classic Review Spinfuel eMagazineIf you’ve always wanted a Vaporflask product but couldn’t pull the trigger on the $299 price tag, working with WISMEC the price of this improved Vaporflask is just $89.99 at Element Vape. Ordering online at Vape Forward the same device is $119.99, so you know, Element Vape is the place to pick one up. In all honesty, when I saw that $89.99 price at Element Vape I had to double check it to make sure it was right. $89.99 bring this top of the line Vaporflask Classic within the hands of most Vapers. In addition, the Vaporflask Classic will last years, and with the firmware upgrades it will be relevant for a very long time.

If the FDA gets its way, you’re going to want some devices that are going to last far beyond the grace period these Nazi’s, er, I mean politicians, are trying to set, so if you’re looking to make investments into mods that will hold up for years instead of months, consider the Vape Forward Vaporflask line.

Grade: A+

Still every bit as classic and sleek as the original Vaporflask, the newly manufactured Vaporflask Classic from Vape Forward is a superb mod with more quality workmanship than ever. At the amazingly low price of $89.99, a real, solid, spectacular Vaporflask is now within grasp of millions more Vapers. Highly recommended. It’s going to last you years.”
