Vaporesso ORC Ceramic Tank Review

If you are a fan of the Vaporesso cCell Ceramic Coil Head, then this review will definitely interest you. However, if you’ve tried the cCell before and found it wanting, nothing Vaporesso can do would change your mind. The heart of the new Vaporesso ORC tank is that cCell Ceramic Coil Head, and as far as I have seen, no other coil head is compatible with the ORC.

Still with me? Good, that means you’ve found great vape experiences with a cCell tank before, and maybe you’re open to an even better one.

A few weeks back I reviewed the Vaporesso Gemini RTA and its cousin, the Gemini Sub-Ohm tank. I still use these tanks, and the original Vaporesso cCell Target tank, because I am a huge fan of that cCell ceramic coil head. It’s long-lasting, delivers phenomenal flavor, and once it’s had time to break in, it produces wonderful amounts of vapor clouds. That ‘break in’ period is a must for the cCell Ceramic Coil Head, as I’m sure many users of the coil head have discovered.

Let’s talk ORC

The Vaporesso ORC cCell Ceramic Tank is a beautifully designed Sub-Ohm Tank, with some very special features that warrant a solid review. These new features include a special coil replacement locking mechanism, a juice capacity of 3.5mL, a newly refined top-fill design that makes refilling the tank faster and less messy, and a quad-slot adjustable airflow system. Each of four airflow slots are a large 7.5mm by 2.5mm, allowing for massive inflow of air with every pull on the drip tip. The Vaporesso ORC also features a new e-Juice Flow Control system that allows a huge amount of e liquid to continuously saturate the ceramic coil head in order to prevent dry hits, and to allow for deep lung hits with every pull.

What Makes the ORC Tank Unique

Whether this unique feature is an attempt to appease the US and UK regulations, the ORC tank has been designed to allow the user to remove the base of tank from the upper chamber, which in turn creates a one-piece, solid unit that eliminates leaking and flooding, and allows the user to change the coil head without having to worry about the top half of the tank, or the eliquid contained therein.

The new Top Fill design uses a complete top cap unthreading that gives the user the largest opening possible for refills, and it works with the eJuice Flow Control system so that juice flow is stopped, and the vacuum is secure while refilling.

The cCell Ceramic Coil Heads

Users of the cCell Ceramic coil heads can purchase the cCell with Kanthal, Ni200 (pure nickel) and SS (Stainless Steel) in 5-piece packs ($15.95). For my use its always been Kanthal in the cCell’s, or an occasional Nickel, both give deep, natural flavors from the eliquids, while the Stainless Steel is prime for either VW or TC modes of your mods, if your TC mod is equipped with a Stainless Steel TC mode that is.

The resistance of the various cCell Coil Heads are as follows:

Stainless Steel

1 – 0.6-ohm SS316

2 – 0.5-ohm SS316

Kanthal

1 – 0.9-ohm Kanthal

Nickel

  1. – 0.2-ohm

Real World Report

As with every cCell equipped tank, the Target and the Gemini, and now with the ORC, I need to reiterate theVaporesso ORC Ceramic Tank Review – Spinfuel eMagazine need for a proper break in for these wondrous coil heads. Although the ceramic material in the cCell is porous, and long-lasting, it takes a little time to get the optimal performance in vapor production. Putting 2 or 3 drop of e juice into the cCell and priming the tank for a few minutes will produce wonderful flavor, but the maximum amount of vapor won’t appear for a few hours.

Priming a cCell Ceramic Coil Head

  • Attach the coil head to the base of the tank, and drop 2 or 3 drops of ejuice into the coil head.
  • Attach the base to the tank (Gemini and ORC) and fill the tank with ejuice. With the cCell Target, fill the tank from the bottom, then attach the base of the tank.
  • Once assembled, close off airflow approximately 90% and draw air in through the drip tip in 3x 5-second pulls. This draws the ejuice into the wicking system of the cCell Ceramic Coil head.
  • Open all air slots and blow through the drip tip for 3 to 5 seconds. Repeat 1 or 2 times, depending on whether you see or feel any eliquid.
  • Attach the tank to the mod you wish to use and allow it to sit for 5 minutes.

Pre-burn the cCell Ceramic coil head

  1. – With your mod set in VW mode, at 25w press and hold the fire button for 4 or 5 seconds. Repeat one time.
  2. Finally, bump the wattage to 30w and hold and fire once.

Vaporesso ORC Ceramic Tank Review – Spinfuel eMagazineFollowing the above directions will get you started on the path to a wonderful vape with the cCell Ceramic Tank(s). However, as you push up the wattage to find your sweet spot, do so slowly and gently. Do not take deep lung hits until you feel the cCell give way to softer, easier pulls. Once your tank is properly broken in you’ll be able to take 10-secon Lung Hits without a problem. To do so before its broken in will burn your coil and require you to perform a “burn to clean” process to repair the ceramic material.

What to expect

Stage 1 – Before the cCell is completely broken in you should get plenty of flavor from your eliquid. Deep, wonderful flavor no matter what the PG/VG ratio.  Vapor production will be pretty awesome, but you’ll feel that you haven’t really opened it up on freeway yet.

Stage 2 – With a cCell coil head fully matured and broken in you’ll continue to get rich, satisfying flavor from the coil head. In addition, vapor production will flow easily and in massive quantities. If this is your first experience with a ceramic coil head you’ll wonder why you waited so long. Both flavor and vapor will be truly amazing, for up to 3 months.

I always use a High VG or Max VG e-liquid and I’ve never had an issue with a cCell Ceramic Coil Head, andVaporesso ORC Ceramic Tank Review – Spinfuel eMagazine neither will you. I have also used a 50:50 blend from Vape Dudes and found the flavor produced from the cCell ceramic coil is almost too intense. I know that my definition of intense is not everybody’s. I prefer a flavor that is smooth, balanced, and not overwhelming. I find most 50:50 eliquids too intense now when it comes to flavor, and in the cCell in particular the flavor is astonishing.

The Vaporesso ORC Sub-Ohm tank gives me the most fine-tuning yet from a Vaporesso cCell coil head tank. The airflow and e juice flow controls are as concise as can be, allowing me to set my parameters for a great vape experience exactly as I want them to be. I’ve seen top-fill systems like this one before, but it is still impressive that I can unscrew and refill in moments, without dripping ejuice down the side.

As good as the Vaporesso ORC Sub Ohm tank is, I will continue to use the Gemini Sub Ohm on occasion. And, when I am using the Vaporesso Target 75W trigger mod, I’ll continue using the fine cCell Target tank. The ORC is a better tank, but there’s no need to disregard other fine tanks.

Conclusion

Vaporesso ORC Ceramic Tank Review – Spinfuel eMagazineThe cCell Ceramic Coil Head System uses a fine grade porous ceramic core that is implanted with either Kanthal, Ni200 Nickel, or Stainless Steel for clean flavor in any situation. Kanthal or Nickel might be my preference for flavor reproduction, but it doesn’t have to be yours as well.

The Airflow system’s quad air slots design allows more air to circulate through the tank’s chamber and coil system to maximize performance. All in all, the Vaporesso ORC Tank is a truly outstanding, and remarkable performance tank. Vaporesso is on track to become a very major player and one can only hope that Vaporesso gets the chance to continue to introduce new products and refined products long after the August 8th date.

The Vaporesso ORC Tank is available at Element Vape.
