In many ways, the new Vaporesso Revenger MINI is a satisfying, fun to use, miniature version of the original Revenger Mod. Unfortunately, this MINI version does disappoint with battery life. We’ll get to that, and more… after the break…

Vaporesso Revenger MINI Starter Kit Review – Spinfuel VAPE

About the Vaporesso Revenger MINI

The Vaporesso Revenger MINI is an 85W Mod that looks exactly like the original Revenger, just shrunken down some. It has a full TC suite in addition to the 85W, and uses the newest chipset from Vaporesso, the OMNI 2.2. The Starter Kit includes a 3.5mL NRG SE Sub-Ohm Tank that delivers an identical vape experience of the larger 5mL NRG Tank.

The Revenger MINI integrates a 2500mAh internal battery. While having to push the OMNI 2.2 board, and its large OLED display, it also powers a pulsating back side available in various patterns. While the user can turn off this bit of aesthetically pleasing lightshow, if left on to activate with each pull from the drip tip, it doesn’t do any favors to the internal battery.

The output wattage range runs from a minimum of 5W and can be increased by 0.1W increments to a full 85W. The Revenger MINI accommodates coil resistances as low as 0.05 ohms, and as high as 5.0 ohms, though I have no idea why anyone would want a 5.0-ohm coil.

“ELEMENT

The Vaporesso Revenger Mini is also equipped with a full temperature control, sensing, and limiting functions. Temperature Control is utilized with atomizers using titanium, stainless steel, or nickel coil heating elements (wires).  Temp Control allows the user to adjust, set, or limit the temperature of the coils heat. While I’ve yet found as TC-capable heating element that produces flavor fidelity as well as Kanthal or Ceramic, users are able to modulate the vapor for warmer or cooler hits.

Temperature Control virtually eliminates dry or burnt hits as it shuts down the power to the coils if the temperature surpasses the setting, or the eliquid has run dry. As well-intentioned as this technology is, it has failed to maintain a growing user base, evidenced by how few Sub-Ohm tanks are shipped with anything other than Kanthal or ceramic coils.

The OMNI Board 2.2 is an advanced suite of modes. It has advanced to bring all the modern functions of modes such as Customized Curve of Wattage (CCW) and Customized Curve of Temperature (CCT). It also features Bypass Mode, Smart Variable Wattage Mode, as well as TCR Adjustments. Although it might seem as though these advanced abilities are wasted on straight up VW users with Kanthal or ceramic coils, but it’s SMART Wattage mode works extremely well in helping Vapers find the sweet wattage they look for.

The Vaporesso NRG SE Sub-Ohm Tank

Paired up with the Revenger Mini is the Vaporesso NRG SE Sub-Ohm Tank. Together they make up the Revenger MINI Starter Kit. The NRG SE Tank has a decent 3.5mL juice capacity (2mL in the UK), a nicely done Slide-n-Fill top-fill design, plus dual bottom airflow controls, and of course the GT Cores Coil heads.

The GT Cores coil options are traditional cotton and Kanthal, and Vaporesso’s signature cCell Ceramic in each structure. Included in the Starter Kit is a 0.5ohm GT cCell Ceramic Core (wattage range of 15 to 40W) and a 0.15ohm GT4 Core (wattage range of 30 to 60W). Both have optimal wattages well below the 85W maximum output of the Revenger MINI.

Personal Experience with the NRG SE Sub-Ohm Tank

Reviewing the Revenger MINI was not the first time I had been vaping with the NRG SE. The Vaporesso Swag also uses this tank, and I found it to be a very good tank. Certainly not in the same league as the SMOK TFV12 Prince or the Uwell Valyrian (the two best mainstream Sub-Ohm Tanks on the market right now), but the coils are long-lasting and the flavor production is good, though not great. The Vapor production is thicker and heavier than you might expect, I don’t have any complaints there.

The two coils in the Kit, the cCell ceramic .5-ohm delivers the truer flavor, and requires just 40W for even the thickest e-juice, how the GT4 does a little better with the volume of clouds. If you intend to vape the usual Coil Killer (super sweet, MaxVG e-juice), I would advise stocking up on the cCell ceramic coil.

Personal Experience with the Revenger MINI

The best parts of the Revenger MINI Mod is how true it remains to the look of the full-size Revenger. I think had Vaporesso used the ‘touch-sensitive’ adjustment buttons it would have been a little harder to set wattage and temperatures, so I’m happy they went with the physical adjustment buttons used in the first Revenger.

The Revenger MINI fails with battery life. While the 2500mAh internal battery suggests a few hours of use before needing a recharge, I barely get an hour. Granted, this battery is powering the hi-res OLED display, and the full back lighting patterns on the rear of the device, vaping at 60W with the GT4 Core sucks the power as well. I admit I was surprised at how fast the battery drained. Thankfully, the Revenger MINI has a 2A charging ability, so 90 minutes tops the user is ready to go with a fully charged mod.

Wrapping Up and the Score

Other than that, the Revenger MINI handles well, feels good in the hand, and can be operated easily with just one hand. And it certainly doesn’t feel cheap, like the recently reviewed SMOK PRIV One.

Taking the good and bad, the good trumps the bad by 3 to 1. Fully featured, quality made, and fun to use, the drawback that prevents me from scoring the Revenger MINI an A rating is the battery life. I have to wonder if 2500mAh was the best they could do.

Score: B
