This Vape Pen style has been around for years, so why would SMOK dive back into the vape pen world with the new SMOK Stick V8 Baby Starter Kit? (Not to mention the Brit One or even the large Stick V8 Cloud Beast) Can SMOKTech offer a compelling reason to spend nearly $40 for this type of device?
About the SMOK Stick V8 Baby Starter Kit
The SMOK Stick V8 Baby Starter Kit has a 2,000 mAh internal vape pen-style battery. Battery life is about average for this type of device, but like all the newest entry-level SMOK products being introduced this month, the Coil Replacements will play a large part of the success or failure of the Stick V8 Baby.
The new M2 class coils from SMOK are designed for this type of device, and both offer great performance with less power needed. The Stick V8 Baby Starter Kit will feature two coils;
1 x V8 Baby M2 Dual-Core Atomizer Coil (0.15 Ohms) – (Pre-Installed)
1 x V8 Baby M2 Dual-Core Atomizer Coil (0.25 Ohms)
Point N Vape Stick V8 Baby
The Stick V8 Baby is a straight up point-n-vape device. No settings to worry about, simply fill the tank and press the fire button. This Direct Voltage device is supposed to calculate the power needed to obtain the optimal vape according the Coil Head used in the included TFV8 Baby Beast Sub-Ohm Tank. And that, folks, is the big question.
The output power of the Stick V8 Baby directly relates to the amount of power left in the battery. Starting off at 4.2v and working down to 3.4v before needing a recharge, the device is supposed to make adjustments to supply the Vaper with a good vape experience. We are certainly looking forward to finding out if this is indeed the case.
The SMOK Stick V8 Baby Kit’s 2,000mAh capacity will not be sufficient to last more than two, maybe three hours before being depleted, but if you happen to be using the device while working at your computer, the Stick V8 Baby works as a pass-thru device.
If I pick one of these starter kits up I’ll make sure to have an extra-long USB cable and a car adapter to use while driving.
The SMOK Stick V8 Baby Battery has multiple safety features to assure a safe and effective vape.
Features include an 8-Second Shutoff Protection, a Low-Resistance Protection, Short-Circuit Protection, and Low-Voltage Protection. Something we all expect with VW/TC mods, but it’s nice to see these features reaching down into vape pen arena as well.
The SMOK Stick V8 Baby Startet Kit comes with the famous SMOK TFV8 Baby Beast Tank. The Stick V8 battery is made with aluminum-zinc alloy, and the Baby Beast Tank is created using 304-grade stainless steel.
The TFV8 Baby Beast has a 3ml ejuice capacity, and with the new coil heads included in this Starter Kit, we can expect to see longer battery life and less eliquid consumption than the more advance VW/TC box mods.
Back when the entire staff was vaping with the Aspire CF battery and their Atlantis Sub-Ohm Tank, we enjoyed the vape experience quite a bit. In the intervening years box mods were, and are, all the rage, but should the SMOK Stick V8 Baby prove to provide a great vape, we’ll be happy to tell you so.
Our biggest concern is this Direct Voltage system. When it comes to powering sub-ohm tanks this system often under powers the coils, and thereby providing only a ‘decent’ vape experience. We expect more from SMOKTech, and we hope we get it.
