iJoy MAXO V12-C12 Coil Structure
The ‘magic’ that makes for the profound performance of the MAXO V12 lies in the new Twelve-Coil Coil System. The resistance of these Kanthal coils is an ultra-low 0.1ohm, and can fire up to an astonishing 315 Watts, and as low as 60W, though don’t expect much at this level of power. In fact, these new coils need at least 120W to even begin to produce enough flavor and vapor to make vaping with them worth the cost. I’ll talk more about the cost of vaping with the MAXO V12 later.

The V12-C12 0.12wΩ coil head features a six-chamber design. Each of the 6 chambers features its own dedicated wicking port for vape juice wicking that can truly keep with up Direct Lung hits at 315W of power. iJoy tells us that the V12-C12 has been optimized to function well at lower outputs, beginning at a low 60W.
However, through extensive testing during my review period it was revealed to produce very little vapor or flavor at 60W, and to purchase the V12-C12 replacement coils for vaping under 120W seems wasteful to me. Not to mention the sheer size of the Sub-Ohm Tank. The iJoy MAXO V12 fits the look and feel of the iJoy MAXO box mod, the SMOK GX350 box mod, as well as the WISMEC Reuleaux RX300. Having said that, placing the MAXO V12 atop smaller box mods that are certainly capable of 60W and much more, looks almost silly.
XL-C4 Coil Head
As a part of the iJoy MAXO V12 Supreme Kit comes this incredible atomizer core that offers a resistance of 0.15ohm, and a wattage range of 50W-250W called the XL-C4 Chip Coil. To use this coil with the MAXO V12 the user must make use of the coil adapter which integrates the quad-core individual vertical coils for a proper range of 50 to 250W. Perhaps a bit more cumbersome that the straight up V12-C12, the XL-C4 offers a less insane vaping situation, and is also compatible with the iJoy Limitless XL Tank, the iJoy EXO XL Tank, and of course the MAXO V12.
Rebuildable Deck V12-RT6
The iJoy MAXO V12 Supreme Kit also adds the V12-RT6 Rebuildable Head to the mix. A unique 3-point triple-post build deck, with dual terminals on each post that will accommodate a wide array of coil structures and the most complex build configurations you can think of.
Using the V12-RT6 is the only way a user will be able to use the MAXO V12 in TC Mode. Just pick up a spool of Ni200, Titanium, or Stainless Steel wire to use as the heating element, use ample amounts of pure organic cotton, and you’re all set to switch your mod to the correct Temperature Control Mode.
iJoy MAXO V12 Airflow
With massive amount of air entering the tank and coil structure through dual massive air slots, the inhaled air will travel up and through the entire structure of the tank keeping the tank and coils cool up to unheard of wattage levels. Using the V12-C12 for more than half the review period I was always surprised to feel huge clouds of vapor circulating my mouth and lungs with such low levels of warmth. It was not until I approached the maximum wattage that the vapor began to warm up substantially.
iJoy MAXO V12 Refill Method
I’ll admit I’m not all that crazy about the Top-Fill method chosen by iJoy for the MAXO V12. Part of it is that I wasn’t used to this type of top-filling, but the other part was the system itself.
The top-fill system featuring a flip-top cap that reveals not-so-wide fill port for the sizable 5.6mL vape juice capacity.
At first, the user of the MAXO V12 Tank will feel that opening the top-fill cap is counter-intuitive. On the front side of the top cap there is a notch with the word “Open”, and directly opposite is the hinge mechanism. It is normal to think that opening the top cap to fill the tank would mean pressing, lifting, or some other move to the notch on the top cap, simply because that’s where the ‘Open’ is. Without reading the manual (I always wait until I figured out how to use a tank before reading its manual), I was stymied for the longest time, unable to get the top cap off.
Grabbing the manual I noticed that for the flip-top to work I had to press the hinge mechanism on the back of the top cap. As soon as I did the top cap flipped open in an instant, revealing the fill part that was no bigger than the fill port on the SMOK TFV8 Big Baby Sub-Ohm Tank.
Conclusion
The closest I’ve come to the performance of the iJoy MAXO V12 for cloud production was when I was reviewing the WISMEC Reux tank. But the Reux doesn’t come close to the 315W vaping capabilities of the MAXO V12. The SMOK TFV12 Cloud Beast King comes neck and neck to the performance in cloud production when using the V12-T12, a 60-350W coil head range, and a resistance of 0.12Ω, nearly identical in specs….
…but when considering the FLAVOR production SMOK’s the most powerful coil head (V12-T12) the Cloud King Beast bests the MAXO V12, despite both using Kanthal A1 heating elements. I’ve decided the flavor difference lies in the quality of the cotton wicking.
As for Cloud Production, it should be said that the MAXO V12 produces a bit thicker vapor than the Cloud Beast King, with half the effort. Those massive airflow slots and ultra-wide bore drip tip give the MAXO the edge.
For pure cloud chasing, the winner is the iJoy MAXO V12 with the V12-C12 Coil Head. It is the only Sub-Ohm tank I own that sets off the Avatar VapeNut without having to exhale in the VapeNut’s direction.
I pull the MAXO V12 when I want to bury my world in thick vapor, otherwise, I’m vaping for massive clouds and massive flavor with the Cloud Beast King.
