The Geekvape Aegis 100W TC Mod has become one of my favorite mods faster than most others have. Sure, I’m downright properly impressed with the marketing for the Aegis being waterproof, dustproof, and shockproof, but these ‘features’ are not what caused me to embrace this attractive 100W Mod and call it a favorite. I would never take it into the water with me, I’m careful not to drop any mod, and I’m note even sure where I could get any mod “dusty”…. There is much more to the Geekvape Aegis and better reasons to buy one that being dust proof.

But Wait… Waterproof? With a LEATHER Grip?

Actually, I’m going to take Geekvape at their word and trust that if my mod got wet it would not suffer any type of malfunction. However, because the grip is made of some kind of leather or pleather, I’m sure if it got wet enough, long enough, I would damage it. I don’t want to damage it, so instead I found a video on YouTube of someone punishing it in my stead. So, take a minute or 10, and watch the video to see how way overboard the punishment can get.

What This Reviewer Likes About the Geekvape Aegis

“ELEMENT

First, it looks like a handsome workhorse. Curves, lines, and contours make the Aegis very comfortable to hold, albeit a tad heavier than most. Take a long look at the slideshow of photos in this review and see just how nicely machined the Aegis is.

The battery life is another feature that won me over. Now that I’ve stocked up on several 26650 batteries I have a better feeling about mods that use them. Yes, the Aegis can use an 18650 with the included silicone sleeve, but with a good 26650, like the iJOY 4200mAh 40A 3.7v model, the battery life, even when vaping at 93W full time, the battery lasts an extraordinary amount of time.

Since the Geekvape Aegis doesn’t come in a Kit version you’re free to use whatever sub-ohm or RTA you want. My choice is the SMOK TFV12 Cloud Beast King and the Vaping AMP Tanker (I am still fascinated with the Tanker).

The Geekvape Aegis Nitty Gritty

The Aegis has 100 watts of maximum output, plus temperature control modes (including TCR), and a power curve system, bypass mode, and instantaneous firing. During my review time of a month I remained impressed by the instant firing, and how in all the time I put into using it I experienced zero misfires.

Geekvape Aegis Materials and Construction

Geekvape has every right to brag about the Aegis and its quality of construction.  The Aegis is made from aluminum/zinc alloy and silicone and is built with LSR Injection Molding, which makes it super resistant to damage from accidents, plus dirt or water. Within reason.

“AVAILABLE”

Geekvape points out that the Aegis is MIL STD 810G-516.6 military grade mod — so it will supposedly never scratch or get damaged when dropped.  (Watch Video) The Aegis is also IP67 waterproof which means it can be submerged in 1 meter (3.3 feet) of water for up to 30 minutes and not suffer damage, and can withstand dirty environments as well as sand and dirt. The Geekvape Aegis is made to be the Mod you take outdoors, on camping trips, to the beach, up the mountains when skiing… even skydiving. It’s a solid, good looking, 100W mod that can live as hard as you might.

The Geekvape Aegis measures a good sized 37.8mm x 46.8mm x 88.0mm. Colors available include silver/brown, gunmetal/camo, black/yellow and a stealth black.

On the topside of the mod is a non-centered standard connector that can use any tank, RDA, or RTA.  Vent holes are located on the top to keep the mod cool.

On the front side of the Aegis is the switch-like fire button at the top along with two adjustment buttons at the bottom. Between the fire “switch” button and the plus/minus adjustment buttons is the OLED screen. This display contains detailed vaping data — including power and temperature, current voltage, ohm resistance, battery and mod amperage, volts, puffs and more, all set up in a vertical orientation to make it super easy to use and understand.

Whether you decide to use a 26650 or 18650 battery, it is loaded via the bottom of the mod. The water tight, dustproof battery cover has deep threads to make sure nothing can seep down into the power cell.

Inside the Geekvape Aegis

The Aegis uses a very advanced chip that allows it fire to almost instantaneously. (0.015 seconds!). Almost very mod I own suffers from varying degrees of misfires, some just a few, some much more. Even the new SMOK ProColor has a slightly above average misfire score. The Aegis? Haven’t experienced a single one in the month that I’ve been using it.

Temp Control and More

The maximum power output for the Aegis is a solid 100 watts, meaning that 98% of Vapers can use it with their favorite tank and eliquid. The Aegis also features the now-standard temperature control modes that include nickel, titanium, stainless steel and adjusting TCR.   The Aegis has one more surprise in the advanced electronics; it features a VPC system with which a user can set a power ramp curve as they vape. Lastly, the Aegis features a bypass mode for using it as a mechanical mod. Though I wonder how many Vapers there are that use anything other than Variable Wattage mod.

The Wrap Up and the Score

Tough, Rugged, and definitely handsome, the Geekvape Aegis 100W TC Mod is sold through Vapor Authority for just $64.99.

If you’re looking for a lightweight mod don’t bother to look into the Aegis, it is not a lightweight. When you view the video, remember that this reviewer was attempting to see how far he could push the Aegis, how much abuse it could take and remain functional. In the everyday lives of Vapers, no one would treat their mod this way, but it does go to great lengths to show just how tough it is. Sure, you can break the Geekvape Aegis, but it won’t be easy.
