Vaporesso Switcher 220W Customizable Mod Kit Preview

Change is good. At least that’s what my father always told me. Thanks to the all-new Vaporesso Switcher 220W (this 220W modern mod is available now at Element Vape) customizable Mod kit, now vapers can change their Mod’s appearance whenever they want, just by sliding on a new metal sleeve.

For those of you unfamiliar with the Vaporesso Switcher, this Mod was originally called the “Transformer,” but we imagine some legal entanglements made the company reconsider its naming scheme. (Apparently, the Transformers are a common design inspiration for vaping companies, just ask SMOK about their new T-Priv 3!)

But changeable sleeves alone do not make a good vape experience. Fortunately, it seems like Vaporesso made a device that’s equally customizable on the inside, for all types of vapers. Let’s take a quick look at the rest of the Vaporesso Switcher to see how it measures up in today’s crowded Mod market.

Vaporesso Mods always seem to have their own style, while still adhering to a larger brand aesthetic. Since the Tarot hit the streets years ago, fans have come to expect the company’s Mods to have sharp angles, symmetric layouts, and extremely balanced experiences, both visually and when operating. The Vaporesso Switcher continues this approach, but adds to the looks by allowing for interchangeable slide on/off sleeves that can entirely change the look of the device.

It appears only one sleeve comes in the kit, but others will be made available for a few bucks a piece, not a bad investment if you want to coordinate your gear on a budget. The sleeves are supposedly made of zinc alloy, like the rest of the Mod, which should lead to a seamless appearance, head to toe.

The Switcher’s oversized fire key sits above the replaceable sleeve, but appears to be in an ergonomic location. If you’re familiar with the SnowWolf V-Feng (reviewed here), or similarly styled Mods, you have a pretty good idea of what your grip will need to be for this customizable Mod.

The centered 510 connection adds to the symmetric nature of the design, and seems to be wide enough to accomModate up to 26mm atomizers. Believe it or not, we couldn’t find exact measurement Specs in our promo materials, so we’ll certainly be sure to try a wide range of atomizers to see if they sit without overhang, and if they are flush with the top of the device.

Also symmetric is the pair of 18650s you’ll need to fire up the Vaporesso Switcher. The Mod has a listed power of 220 watts, with full temperature control suite, TCR settings, bypass Mode, custom heating curve settings, balanced charging, full protection suite and more!

All of this comes courtesy of the proven and powerful OMNI 2.6 chipset, which has been a consistent, highly customizable highlight of recent Vaporesso devices. We’re curious to see if the chipset has any new tricks up its sleeve for the Switcher.

Interestingly, Vaporesso is touting the IML display design with the Switcher Mod kit. We’re not completely clear what this brings to the experience, but we’re certainly intrigued, since IML displays are generally brighter and more durable. I believe this was also featured on the Revenger X Mod (reviewed here), but we’ll be sure to test how it impacts the Switcher, as well.

The versatile, customizable Vaporesso Switcher Mod Kit also comes with the popular 26.5mm NRG Tank, which has been a mainstay on all its devices for more than a year. There isn’t much to say about the NRG that we haven’t covered before, but we’re always excited to see how it performs on new devices, and with newer coil options.

As you know, not only does Vaporesso produce its own GT-series coils for use with the NRG Tank, but there’s also some nifty cross-compatibility with SMOK’s Baby Beast (reviewed here) coil offerings, making the NRG Tank (reviewed here) one of the most versatile and high-performing Tanks in anyone’s collection.

The included GT-4 (dual-coil) and GT-8 (quad-coil) heads are solid, proven performers, and should serve newcomers well.

Vaporesso Mods have become awfully popular around our offices, and one of the key reasons for this is safety. The Vaporesso Switcher Mod continues this trend by including a broad suite of protection measures in the OMNI 2.6 chipset. These measures include protections against low voltage, short circuit, low resistance, low battery and more.

While these measures are fairly common on Modern vape Mods, we’ve always appreciated how well-implemented the features are on Vaporesso products, and hope the Switcher maintains these standards. With a kit as attractive and customizable as this, it’s bound to attract lots of new vapers, making safety measures all the more important.

We haven’t yet received our Vaporesso Switcher for testing but can’t wait to get our hands on this customizable Mod kit to put it through our usual paces. On paper, there’s an awful lot to like here… and let’s face it, those multicolored sleeves are pretty awesome, too.
