We have to say, this DNA75 Color chipset is awesome. Yeah, maybe that’s an odd way to lead off a product preview, but after getting our hands on the Hcigar VT75D mod, we’re really excited to put this device through our testing.

Though the names are similar, the VT75D represents a major stylistic overhaul from the original VT75, most notably with the high-res, full-color TFT display, and nuanced control scheme, all courtesy of the Evolv DNA75C, full-color chip.

“ELEMENT

The 0.91-inch display and ridiculously intuitive menu system has been a highlight of our early testing. With this advanced board powering the proceedings, the VT75D features an onboard programmable multicolor LED indicator, USB-powered charging and firmware updating.

Plus, with Evolv’s EScribe and Theme Designer software, users can fully customize all aspects of the interface for both aesthetics and user experience.

While the menus and options are feature-laden, the rest of the VT75D is focused on streamlined ergonomics. At just 85mm tall and 39mm wide, the mod is certainly pocket friendly, but its triangular shape ensures all tanks 25mm or narrower will fit without an ounce of overhang.

The VT75D has a lightweight but sturdy aluminum and zinc alloy frame, with plastic buttons that seem to be firm enough to keep up with the rest of the high-end design. The mod can be powered by either one or two 18650 cells, in parallel, though we’ll have to see if the max power output is limited on single-battery use.

One battery concern is the door itself, which proved to be extremely tight and difficult to open, especially when the VT75D was empty. Perhaps this is just a matter of breaking in a new device, but consider this something we’ll monitor closely.

“AVAILABLE”

We have only had the VT75D in our hands for a few days, but our team agrees this is a very comfortable, user-friendly form factor that should complement stealth and power users alike.

Despite having a 75-watt cap, our initial impressions of the VT75D were overwhelmingly positive. The mod fired a number of different atomizers with ample, smooth power, never wavering, even at the upper echelons of its capabilities. Once again, the DNA board seems to have delivered – but you know we won’t let the VT75D rest on its laurels. We’ll be looking for cracks in the armor soon enough.

In this day and age, a new DNA75 device isn’t exactly newsworthy. But a device coming from a company as reputable as Hcigar, and featuring the latest, full-color DNA experience? Yeah, we’re interested. And we’ll have our detailed breakdown ready soon.
