Yesterday afternoon, after a 4-day UPS delay (and a call from UPS asking us if our delivery from China contained ‘Nicotine’) we received our shipment of the EXO Skeleton ES300 kits from WISMEC. This 2/3 ‘18650’ cell device, along with the 2mL/5mL KAGE Sub-Ohm Tank (with two new Kanthal A1 coil heads) is surely the boldest design to come from WISMEC, and promises to be a major success, or total flop, from the world’s most daring vape gear manufacturer.
About the WISMEC EXO Skeleton ES300 Kit
The EXO Skeleton ES300 chassis, without the exoskeleton wrapped around it, retains that usual 3x cell polygonal shape of the Reuleaux, the Lost Vape Triade, and a variety of other 3x cell devices. However, the body is also semi-transparent so you can see into the ES300 and even watch some blinking lights. To be semi-transparent the ES300 had a body made of high-resistant acrylic glass.
Sitting atop the EXO SKELETON ES300 is the newly designed 0.66-inch OLED display with a user-friendly interface. Sharing the top of the ES300 is the 510-connector for the KAGE Sub-Ohm.
Like the recently reviewed HCigar VT250S, the new EXO SKELETON ES300 works with two, or three, replaceable hi-amp 18650 cells. The maximum output with 3x cells is 300W, with just 2x cells the EXO SKELETON ES300 has a maximum wattage output of 200W.
Because no manufacturer will yet abandon Temperature Control, the EXO SKELETON ES300 supports the usual suspects, Nickel, Titanium, SS316. Though, interestingly enough, the included Sub-Ohm Tank, the KAGE, includes two new coil head types, both using Kanthal A1 heating elements (wire). Replacement Coils are available, but only in Kanthal, so if you use the KAGE tank with the ES300 you’ll never kick it into TC mode. But I would be remiss if I didn’t include all the modes available to the user; VW/TC-Ni/TC-Ti/TC-SS/TCR.
The KAGE 2mL Sub-Ohm Tank
The KAGE tank features a retractable top-fill system with bottom airflow controls. The brand-new WT series coil heads are supposedly balanced to deliver optimal flavor and huge cloud production. In early testing, flavor and clouds are superb.
For the EXO SKELETON ES300 to be ‘legal’ in countries with the ridiculous and short-sighted TPD, the KAGE was built for a juice capacity of just 2mL. However, WISMEC offers a 5mL glass tank as an option, at additional cost and as an additional purchase.
But here’s the thing; the glass tube is not the problem. The Coil Heads are very wide, taking up a lot of space inside the tank. Therefore, this still rather large Sub-Ohm Tank has a 2mL capacity because of the coil heads, not the length of the glass tube. The EXO SKELETON theme extends to the KAGE tank in its default state. Unless the user decides to purchase the 5mL glass tube that is. The 5mL glass tube is not taller, it’s wider. The glass is frosted, and because of that width the EXO SKELETON will not fit.
Lastly, the Kit version of the EXO SKELETON ES300 includes a single glass tank, some spare rings, a USB cable, and the two coil heads.
There is much more to cover, and after a week or so of using a couple of these new devices we’ll be back with a full review.
