I have a bold proposition for Geek Vape: Change your name!

No, I’m not expecting them to listen. But after releasing a veritable ton of amazing, gorgeous, advanced vape kits, I feel like the name might mislead newcomers. Because the Geek Vape Aegis Max 100W mod kit is another stunning, high-performing entry in a series that might just be among the best in the industry.

Let’s start with the specs and I’ll see you in a few minutes…

Shop the Geek Vape AEGIS MAX 100W Starter Kit, featuring a single 18650 or 21700 battery, 1-100W range, and can inherit the tell-tale IP67 rating of the Aegis line. Constructed from durable zinc-alloy, the AEGIS MAX is proofed against dust, shock, and water, preventing malfunctions due to environmental error. Able to accept either 21700 or 18650, the Geek Vape Aegis Max is versatile and can output up to 100W in wattage mode or access the extensive temperature control suite, while delivering delicious clouds of vapor. Paired with the Geek Vape ZEUS Sub-Ohm Tank via threaded 510 connection, the AEGIS MAX is a starter kit that will set the benchmark for others.

Aesthetics of the Geek Vape Aegis MAX

Red = Geek Vape Aegis Max 100W KitBy now, you either love the look and feel of the Aegis mod series (making you correct) or you don’t (which makes you wrong). Joking aside, Geek Vape spares no detail in making their moderately pricedcvape kits feel like devices that cost three times as much.

From the stitched, leather-like grip, to the rubberized, water-resistant frame, to the bulletproof build quality, there’s nothing on the Aegis Max that doesn’t feel “high-end.” Because the Max is a single 21700 (18650 with adapter) device, there’s a more streamlined feel that may appeal to those who feel previous entries were a little over the top. Here, it’s just about class and maturity, and we couldn’t be happier.

Geek Vape loves its fashion, but never at the expense of function. The Aegis Max maintains the series’ fantastic display and input controls, leading to a mod that’s as responsive and reliable as it is beautiful. Fire key. Up/down controls. 510 connection. All of it is beyond solid, and will survive more than its share of dings and drops (though you should never tarnish a mod this pretty).

Vaping the Geek Vape Aegis Max

Packaging - Geek Vape Aegis Max 100W KitSmooth. Powerful. Responsive. These are words we use a lot around here, but rarely is it as appropriate as it is with Geek Vape kits. The Aegis Max is a bona fide performer from the moment you insert a battery, with ridiculously fast ramp times, and no loss of power, even when pushing the mod to its 100-watt limit.

One problem we’ve been facing lately is occasional misfires when using older tanks and RDAs. Thankfully, that’s not the case here, thanks to the Aegis Max’s snug 510 connection that gently but firmly holds tanks in place, with zero wobble or play between the tank base and the device. Even “legacy” tanks like my original Dead Rabbit RTA sat flush, with no concerns — a VERY pleasant surprise.

We’ve used the Zeus sub-ohm tank several times before, so there’s no surprises here. But to refresh, it’s a winner.

Zeus MESH

Zeus Tank - Geek Vape Aegis Max 100W KitThe Zeus mesh coil heads blew me away with the amount of rich, nuanced flavor and room-filling vapor this tank produced right out of the gate. Within minutes of priming the 0.4 and 0.2-ohm mesh heads, I had two paired Aegis mods cranking simultaneous plumes of goodness, with both offering similar levels of performance.

The plug-and-play heads sit in the Zeus tank securely, never once leaking or offering any odd misfires during my testing. If there’s ANY complaints to be had, it’s that both heads only offered 4-5 days of moderate use before tapping out. This is a little short by current standards, but while they last, the Zeus sub-ohm heads are just fantastic.

In fact, there’s really only one other complaint to discuss with the Aegis Max kit — battery life. While the mod gave me four solid hours of moderate vaping on a fully charged 21700 cell, that’s hardly record-breaking longevity. And even more interesting is that the mod performed for slightly longer durations when using an 18650 cell.

Aegis X Max

Perhaps I need to assess my battery collection, but this isn’t the first time we’ve experienced underwhelming performance from a larger battery, and the Aegis Max isn’t going to change that perception.

Pros:

  • Gorgeous styling and build quality
  • Extremely responsive and powerful
  • Tanks sit beautifully on the 510 connection

Cons:

  • Battery life is just average
  • Coils should last longer
  • I don’t have two of them

Bottom Line

ZEUS Coils - Geek Vape Aegis Max 100W KitGeek Vape is producing top-tier products at a time when the vaping industry is facing heat from all sides. While other companies have slowed production, or focused their output on lower-priced kits, Geek Vape defies these trends and continues to serve their core audiences in tremendous ways.

Look past the minimal criticisms we detailed above and give the Geek Vape Aegis Max kit a serious look when shopping for your next mod kit. It’s worth every second of your time and every penny you pay.

Score: A+
