Hey folks, Smokenjoey here… Kanger has produced its first box mod, which seems to be made to work well with all four of their Subtanks (the 4th being the new Subtank Plus). The box mod is priced (one the web) at between $25-$35. At first this looks to be a very affordable price, but is it? No USB port means having to manually switch out the 18650 battery each time you need a recharge, necessitating the need for at least two batteries, plus a charger if you don’t already have one.

There are some very interesting feature of this 40W box mod, and some of them I like a lot, some not so much. It can fire coils down to 0.4ohms, which is a plus for sub ohm cloud chasing, and it makes me wonder if Kanger is going to be releasing .4ohm OCC coils soon. It’s aluminum body makes it lightweight, and it feels good in your hand.

But, there is major competition for the KBox, the eLeaf iStick 50W being the closest competitor, and offers more wattage and much more battery life with its built in self-contained battery. Interestingly though is the KBox does not have any sort of a display screen and offers only preset wattage, only 7 settings from 8-40w.

Watch my video to see some of these features in action, and more, plus my opinion on the KBox and where it fits in this new world of Box Mod vaping.

Here are the major specs for the Kanger KBox:

Wattage: Output: 8-40W
Short Circuit Protection
Overcurrent Protection
10 sec cut-off
18650 (20A min.)
510, Floating PIN Connector
Battery capacity indicator
Battery: 18650 (discharge >20A)
Replaceable Batteries
