PREVIEW: Aspire Speeder 200W TC Starter Kit

Although the Aspire Speeder has made its way into the Spinfuel VAPE Review Que, we’re not yet ready to draw any conclusions yet for an actual “review”. We can say that this Box Mod, and the Sub-Ohm tank made for it, the Aspire Athos, are the best mod and tank to come from Aspire since the company’s inception. It has power, and sharp looks, and the Sub-Ohm tank is clearly one for cloud chasers. I’m reviewing the White and Gold model, while Julia is using the silver and grey. Both are delicious combinations and give the Kit a bit more ‘oomph’ than the usual black, red, blue, green, we see in hundreds of mods and tanks today. Our reviews are coming soon…

Aspire introduced the Speeder 200W TC Starter Kit with Athos Sub-Ohm Tank a couple of weeks back, and only this week are we finding our favorite vendors getting their shipments. It seems that both Aspire and the vendors that have chosen to stock it expect big things, and from what I can tell as this point is, they are right to think so.

The Aspire Speeder 200W TC Starter Kit offers a mod with a maximum output of 200W, along with a full temperature control suite. The mod itself is equipped with a 0.96-inch OLED screen that displays unusually large, but crystal clear, fonts, laying out essential information to the user. The coolest feature with respect to the display is that it automatically rotates depending on the angle of the mod. Hold it one way, then tilt it the other and you can watch the display change orientation on-the-fly. At first I thought I was seeing things, only later did I discover this intriguing feature was real…and innovative.

The Speeder 200W TC Box Mod has a hinge-and-lock battery door on the bottom of the chassis that accepts two high-amp (25A+) 18650 batteries, and can be internally recharged at 2A. For a dual battery mod, a full charge won’t take nearly as long as you might think. We’ll test this out in our official review.

Our upcoming review for the Aspire Speeder Kit will be accompanied by a separate, second, review for this marvelous new tank. Aspire stepped out of its comfort zone when designing the Athos, combining good looks with extreme performance. This is a tank you’ll want to use on many mods, not just the Speeder.

The Aspire Athos Sub-Ohm Tank is 25mm in diameter, with a threaded top fill system, along with a stainless steel protective glass sleeve, in the color combination of the Kit. My Athos tank is a rich gold color for instance.

The tank has a single fill port underneath the removable top cap, and holds up to 4ml of E-Liquid. In truth, the tank looks as though it should hold quite a bit more e-liquid than it does, but the reason is the coil heads are huge.

Speaking of large coils, the Athos Sub-Ohm Tank is designed around the Athos Coil Family and the tank includes an A3 Tri-Coil Head and an A5 Penta-Coil Head, (preinstalled) with a wattage range of 60 to 75W for the A3, and 100 to 120W for the A5. Preliminary results seems to be that the Athos vapes as well as the SMOK TFV8 Cloud Beast with enough wattage. The A5 Penta-Coil is a hungry juicer, the A3 Tri-Coil is somewhat better.

The Aspire Athos has a triple bottom adjustable airflow air flow system that allows the air to enter the tank through ports measuring at 11mm by 2.5mm.

The  Athos tank has a 12mm bore drip tip as the default, and a 14mm wide bore Delrin drip tip, both are included with the Starter Kit or when purchasing the tank separately. So far I haven’t made up my mind on which drip tip I prefer.

Aspire’s Speeder 200W TC Starter Kit with Athos Sub-Ohm Tank is available for about $69.99. Whether it holds up and performs well throughout the review period will tell me whether this is the Kit Vapers might want to invest it. So far, I’m am enjoying it, but I’ll need another week of hard usage to determine its real value.
