PREVIEW for the Modefined Sirius 200W Mod – I know Modefined named its latest dual-18650 device the “Sirius” after the star constellation. But it could have just as easily changed the spelling to “Serious” because this mod looks like it means business.

One of the more striking and original designs we’ve seen of late, the Modefined Sirius looks to be a classy, but thoroughly rugged piece of vape hardware, while housing all of the fine-tuning options we’ve come to expect in modern mods.

Built from die-cast zinc alloy in five subdued color schemes, with solid steel connectors, nickel-plated 510 pin, and a face plate made from anodized aluminum, there’s nothing dainty about the 87mm tall Sirius. But it certainly looks like it could handle more than few dings, drops and scratches without flinching – an attractive quality to a guy like me, who is done with cheap finishes and fragile devices.

“ELEMENT

The top of the device seems downright bomb-proof, with a screw-fit plate holding the offset 510 connection firmly in place. And with a 30mm width, there’s a very good chance we’ll be able to accommodate similarly beefy tanks and RDAs without overhang.

The oversized, round fire button looks to be made from the same solid metal as the top plate, and slightly juts out, giving off the impression of – you guessed it – a trigger.

MODEFINED SIRIUS 200W TC BOX MOD PREVIEW – SPINFUEL VAPEThe rear of the device features a ribbed, texture section that just looks perfectly framed to fit in the crook of your palm. Though I think the device will function just fine any way you hold it, there’s no secret as to how developers want users to experience this mod.

Heck, there even seems to be a raised “hook” section, possibly to strap the device to a bag or tool belt. Yet, even with all these “Black and Decker” design choices, there’s something entirely distinguished and high-end about the way the Trigger is formed and shaped. Yes, it’s assertive and bold, but it also seems highly ergonomic.

“AVAILABLE”

On a performance level, don’t let the tough exterior fool you – the Modefined Sirius is no mindless bruiser. The four-button control scheme and crystal clear, full-color TFT screen ensure advanced users can navigate the extensive menu options with ease.

And there are plenty of options from which to choose. The 200-watt Sirius features a full slate of features, from comprehensive temperature control, up to 600-degrees Fahrenheit, bypass and all other modern vaping amenities. Though we don’t yet know about preheat settings, memory slots, firmware upgrades and the like, we are confident this will offer the customization necessary to appeal to high-end vapers.

One minor concern is that the onboard charging is just 1-amp, when the industry standard is quickly moving to 2-amp functionality. Perhaps that’s a smart move, since two amps seem to heat up devices beyond comfortable ranges, but this seems out of character for such a burly vape device.

We’ll see soon enough if the mod can successfully marry brains and brawn – the Modefined Sirius will be on our desks shortly, with a SERIOUSLY detailed review to follow shortly after.
