If the Laisimo Spider 200 box mod was a science fiction TV show, we’d call it “Battlestar Modreplica.” Alright, that was a terrible joke, but we stand behind our reasoning. That’s because the 200 Spider is MORE than reminiscent of Smoant’s proven mod, at least on the exterior.
But can it live up to the billing? Well, our testing has yet to begin in earnest, but all signs point toward this being a more than worthy lookalike. We don’t necessarily review mods on originality, just performance. And the 200 Spider has some pretty good things going on under the hood.
The 84mm tall, but 41.1mm slender 200 Spider makes a distinctive first impression. The brass-tinted zinc alloy frame on our test model features a curved, triangular shape with a recessed, (nearly) center-mounted 510 connection. The design is ornate, with deep, abstract cutouts throughout the device, including two in the back that appear to offer ample venting room.
(If brass patina isn’t your thing, rest assured, the 200 Spider also comes in a deeper copper, matte black, red, yellow, blue and purple.)
The 510 pin is spring-loaded, the recessed portion may limit which tanks will sit flush on the 200 Spider. I don’t foresee any trouble with today’s glut of 25mm tanks, but anything larger may hang over this space, possibly hindering a solid connection.
Though we need to run the 200 Spider through an all-day use test, if it’s anything like the Battlestar, vapers can expect a comfortable, ergonomic feel in the palm, which is easy to fire in either hand. The recessed and rattle-free fire button only further supports this prediction.
Likewise, the up/down control buttons are solid and sturdy, and are also free of any unwanted play. Though I would prefer buttons that were a little further apart, and raised a little higher for no-look operation, we didn’t experience any control issues in our limited time with the 200 Spider.
The dual-18650 200 Spider is perhaps most notable for its 1-inch, full-color OLED screen, with a display that resembles iJOY’s Captain line of devices. That is, to say, tall and bright, with a wealth of information onscreen, including individual battery meters, wattage/temp display, current puff counter, puff duration, coil resistance, volts and amps and more.
I didn’t think I’d care for the color display, but – while it’s perhaps a little low-tech looking by modern standards – it is nonetheless clear and easy to decipher. The distinct colors helped me quickly decipher the readout, and I had no issues reading the screen in broad daylight.
Much like most modern devices, the 200 Spider features standard “three-click” controls, which brings up an intuitive, highly navigable menu tree that should be familiar to most experienced vapers. In our quick run-through, we found the 200 Spider to be highly usable and responsive.
We don’t have much information about the 200 Spider’s chipset, but with a full suite of wattage and temperature control adjustments, including TCR, we expect a solid – if unspectacular – selection of features.

Indeed, the Laisimo Spider 200 appears to borrow more than a few design elements from its competitors. But let’s be honest, name one vape company that hasn’t. If the end result is attractively designed (and priced) vape mod that does what it says, it won’t matter in the slightest.
