A few short years ago we were often inundated with new vaping products from Innokin. Nowadays, something new from Innokin is a surprise. The new, and truly amazing High Wattage Scion Sub-Ohm Tank, is the biggest surprise from Innokin yet. Big performance for $14.99? Indeed.

The recently released Innokin Scion Sub-Ohm Tank seems to be the real deal. In the short amount of time it’s been on the market (we’ve been testing it for a couple of weeks), the new Scion tank has already earned the respect of the staff. And with a staff that has been all about the SMOK TFV8 Cloud Beast and SMOK TFV12 Cloud Beast King (and the myriad of colors the tanks come in), for the Scion Sub-Ohm Tank to even register on their radar is kind of a big deal.

About The Innokin Scion Sub-Ohm Tank

Made with 304-grade stainless steel, the Scion tank has been a stable performer. The Scion is offered in Silver (stainless steel), or Black (finish) and White, and as such is resistant to the ravages of vape juice and even limited accidental abuse. A month of use and the Scion looks and performs like new. The 24mm diameter shouldn’t be a problem with most modern box mods. I’ve used the Scion on my SMOK Alien, SMOK G150, Joyetech Cuboid Tap, WISMEC Predator, and Lost Vape Triade without an issue. My favorite box mod for the Scion seems to be the Predator 228W.

The Innokin Scion Sub-Ohm Tank is a Top-Fill Tank, but to help you avoid frustration when you buy one, know that the Delrin Drip Tip takes up the entire top cap. It’s a wide bore mouthpiece, but it extends out at the bottom and screws into the stainless-steel top. Remove this section to see the wide fill slots, fill the tank and replace the drip tip/top cap, and that’s it. (see photos)

The Coil Heads, which we’ll get into more details in a bit, are 100W to 300W capable, but while vaping continuously between 120W and 150W, the heat dissipation of the Delrin top/mouthpiece kept it cool, like room temperature cool.

The Innokin Scion Sub-Ohm Tank has a 3.5ml vape juice capacity. It’s glass tank allows the user to see the level of juice left at a mere glance. The glass is said to make of borosilicate glass, like most other sub-ohm tanks, though I have my suspicions that ALL sub-ohm tank glass is soda-lime glass. (that topic is for another day). Because of the high wattage capabilities of the coil heads, even moderate Vapers will blow through 3.5mL fairly quickly.

The base of the Innokin Scion Sub-Ohm Tank offers dual-adjustable airflow slots. Like most other sub-ohm tanks with bottom airflow slots, the user can adjust the draw for Direct Lung or Mouth to Lung vaping at any time. The best cloud performance is leaving the airflow slots wide open, but I could create a decent MTL vape experience by closing down the airflow by about 80%.

The construction of the Scion Sub-Ohm Tank was done well, but kept simple and unassuming. In a

room full of Vapers you won’t draw attention to yourself with the Scion, and that’s not a bad thing. It’s a workhorse, plain and simple.

The Scion Sub-Ohm Tank Coil Heads

The tank itself holds the vape juice, sets the airflow for maximum juice exposure to the coils, but a sub-ohm tank is only as good as the coil heads designed for it. For the Innokin Scion Sub-Ohm Tank, the Coil Heads raise the performance to ‘excellence’.

Pounding yet another nail in the coffin of Temperature Control technology, the coil heads for the Scion are equipped with Kanthal heating elements (wires), and pure organic cotton. Kanthal is the de facto wire for the best flavor from any eliquid, and Innokin chose wisely to work with Kanthal once again.

The Coil Heads for the Scion Sub-Ohm Tank are available in 0.28Ω and 0.5Ω, Kanthal A1 and 100% pure Japanese organic cotton wicking. The Innokin Scion Coil Heads deliver pure, authentic flavor with any PG/VG ratio.

The Innokin Scion Sub-Ohm Tank offers high performance, with both clouds and flavor, for a

very low price. I can’t remember an introduction of a high performance sub-ohm tank at just $15.

The Scion Sub-Ohm Tank package includes an extra glass tank, O-rings, a vape band, and two 0.28Ω Kanthal coil heads, rated at 100-300W. I’ve found the “optimal” wattage to be between 120-170W, though I do not doubt the Innokin claims of 300W. I just haven’t been able to get there…yet.

Bottom Line

The overall design of the Innokin Scion Sub-Ohm Tank, in any of the three colors, looks good on any box mod. We need more of these types of tanks.

As much as I love my SMOK Sub-Ohm tanks, they always look their best on a SMOK mod. Having an inexpensive, but exceptional sub-ohm tank that will look natural on any box mod is what’s been missing in my line up. But at $14.99 for this excellent tank and the extras in each box, it’s an opportunity to add a few sub-ohm tanks for any occasion. What’s not to love?

On a Scale of 1 to 10, I’d put “Flavor” at 9.8 and “Clouds” at 9.5.
