The iJoy RDTA Box 200W Starter Kit ($59.95 Element Vape) and the SMOK Skyhook RDTA Box, share many similarities, at first glance anyway, but there are differences that could very well leave room in the marketplace for both devices to prosper. In this review, I’ll discuss the iJoy RDTA Box and soon follow up on a review of the SMOK Skyhook RDTA Box.

I’ve spent the better part of the past 3 weeks using both, and enjoying both. (The review for the Skyhook should be published soon.)

The iJoy RDTA Box 200W Starter Kit is a beautifully designed box mod, built in collaboration with VapingwithTwisted420, measuring 55mm by 28mm by 135mm, or 2.1 inches wide, just 1 inch deep, and 5.3 inches tall… It features a massive 12.8mL eliquid tank across the top part of the chassis. It is ridiculously easy to refill with its 15mm wide refill slot that’s covered with a screw on, screw off cap. 15mm will allow the user to unscrew the cap and literally pour the ejuice into the tank area of the device, along with a built-in LED light for e-juice gauging and cleaning.

The iJoy RDTA Box is a dual 18650 high-amp battery mod, with an easy-to -access battery compartment.  The 200W of maximum output is due to the iJoy’s IWEPAL chipset technology (with a 95% Power Efficiency rating) that can bring 200W of power to the table with just two 18650 batteries, plus a full suite of Temperature Control tools with support for Ni200 Nickel, Titanium, and Stainless Steel heating elements. The wattage output range is 5 to 200W, and the resistance range is, well, how low can you build a coil?

With four output modes, full temperature control support, and a 0.96-inch OLED screen on the front side, the iJoy RDTA has everything a user could want, if that user prefers to use a build deck instead of replacing pre-made coil heads.

This iJoy RDTA Box, as well as the SMOK Skyhook, combines the best of all worlds by giving the user a huge amount of eliquid capacity, easy access to a dual 18650 battery compartment, 200W and 220 watts respectively, of maximum wattage output, and full temp control. Last but not least, the iJoy RDTA Box is firmware upgradable.

With the iJoy IMC Interchangeable Deck system for the iJoy RTDA the user is offered a plethora of interchangeable build decks, (eleven in total) and no matter what coil(s) the user wants to build it’s available by adding one of the optional decks to the collection. (decks sold separately)

The iJoy RDTA Box includes a two-post IMC3 deck, a versatile build deck and an included IMC Coil. Rated at 0.15Ω, this pre-built coil has a wattage range of 50 to 100W. The Kit even includes some high grade organic cotton. But that’s just to get the user started.

The iJoy RDTA Box is the new flagship of iJoy, with very good reason. The RDTA Box features a new IWEPAL powered chipset capable of 5 to 200W of output across four output modes, full temperature control support, and a vertically orientated 0.96-inch OLED screen. The device is powered by dual high-amp 18650 batteries (sold separately) loaded from the sliding battery door located at the side of the chassis.

Between the iJoy RDTA and the SMOK Skyhook, this format is quite spectacular for Vapers looking for a smooth transition between Sub-Ohm tanks and RDA’s, or for experienced RDA users looking for modern box mod features for their RDA experience.

Real World Report

For months now I’ve been using only Sub-Ohm tanks, and seldom even bother with the RBA head some of the better tanks include. When you can spend your vape time with a tank like the TFV8 Cloud Beast or the TFV12 Cloud Beast King, there isn’t a lot of reasons to bother with an RDTA setup, except for one; there are tens of thousands of Vapers that love building their own coils. For them, the iJoy RDTA Box brings all the great things we love about our modern box mods, plus a huge eliquid tank like a good Squonker, right up to the Coil Builder’s front door. All of this for just $59.95, in several color choices too.

The iJoy RDTA Box is truly a dream machine for Coil Builders/RDA users, and in the amount of time I spend with it I learned to enjoy coil building again. I won’t abandon my box mods and sub-ohm tanks, but for those times when I want to try a cool new build, this machine is going to get my undivided attention.

Using the included deck with the iJoy Limitless RDA, I stuffed the RDA will the supplied organic cotton, saturated the coil and cotton with a 70% VG eliquid and enjoyed pure flavor and immense clouds of vapor and remembered why vaping with an RDA was always magnificent.
