I can’t remember the last time I saw a full kit built around an RDA. That’s what surprised me so much when the Sigelei Fuchai VCIGO K2 RDA Mod Kit arrived on our desks. With a bold design and a truly unique Cubic RDA in the box, this kit is aiming to appeal to vapers looking from something different than the usual box/tank combination.
Indeed, this is a truly different device – kind of a marriage of several Fuchai mod design elements. The VCIGO features the colorful TFT screen from the Fuchai 213 Plus, the changing LED light strip from the Fuchai GLO, and a fully fleshed out temperature control suite – which we presume works like newer Fuchais, and not the flawed Fuchai 213.
A Gaming-Inspired RDA Mod Kit?
Perhaps most interesting about the oddball look and feel is how the VCIGO K2 RDA Mod Kit has reprogrammable buttons – not unlike Modern video game controllers. Using the intuitive menu system, vapers can now re-map their button functions to best match their preferred grip and interactions.
Though I appreciate this level of customization, my initial impression of the VCIGO is that it might be leaning a little TOO much in a youthful direction. The color scheme and form factor make this device seem more than a little adolescent-like (or I could just be getting old) . The lights and bright screen don’t make it any more subtle. Though it’s constructed of the standard zinc alloy frame, and isn’t UNattractive, the VCIGO K2 is more youthful than I’m comfortable with for an adult vape device.
(And the Pac-Man-shaped operation buttons don’t do anything to help change that opinion.)
Youthful Yes, but not Playing Around...
That’s not to say the VCIGO K2 RDA Mod Kit won’t deliver what Modern vapers expect. Using just two 18650 batteries, the VCIGO will reach a purported 230 watts of power. This comes alongside a full temperature control suite, TCR and TFR adjustments with a five-coil memory bank, and a slew of other customizations.
It’s worth mentioning is that the Sigelei Fuchai VCIGO K2 RDA Mod Kit features a pure voltage Mode – something we haven’t seen in a while. How this will differ from straight wattage vaping in 2017 remains to be seen, but color us intrigued.
The VCIGO’s full-color TFT screen is largely the same as what vapers have enjoyed since Sigelei moved to the format a few years back. But that’s not to say it isn’t functional. The screen – while not as sharp or smooth-looking as others in this category – is still more than capable of presenting all vital information in a legible manner.
In turn, the Fuchai menu system remains largely unchanged, which is to say it’s functional and easy to learn, even for relative newcomers.
The Cubic RDA
With all the rounded edges and oddball curves of the Sigelei Fuchai VCIGO K2 RDA Mod Kit, it’s surprising Sigelei included the Cubic square RDA as part of the package. Then again, given the overall aesthetic of the Kit, maybe I shouldn’t be surprised at all. Despite the seemingly disparate design ideas, it all works together. I expect the VCIGO K2 RDA Mod Kit to be one of the more polarizing devices of the year, and looks are one reason why.
Other than the squared-off shape, there’s nothing particularly EXCITING about the Cubic. But we don’t get RDAs to look at, so once we give the Kit a thorough vape we’ll report back with how well the velocity-style deck and deep juice well perform when firing.
One minor design note – my matched VCIGO and Cubic RDA are actually two different shades of blue. Hardly a dealbreaker, but it’s also surprising that a Kit so seemingly focused on looks would leave the factory with such a weird discrepancy.
We have barely powered up our VCIGO K2 RDA Mod, but we expect it’s going to take at least a few days of use before we really get to form an opinion. In terms of performance and function, there’s no doubt Sigelei is working with a winning foundation. But the oddball design and questionable additions make us wonder where the VCIGO will land at the end of the day.
One thing’s for certain – this Mod will undoubtedly stand out on our shelves. No one can accuse Sigelei of not taking chances, and we’re very curious to see how these choices come to fruition when vaping.
