Vaporesso Target 75W VTC Starter Kit

An In-Depth Review

Before investing in the complete Vaporesso Target 75W VTC starter kit,  a trigger-handle-type Ni200 temperature-control 75W mod, I insisted on buying just the Ceramic Target cCell Tank first. Once I was convinced that the tank was a good one, and it is, (check out the review we did here,)  it was time to pick up the starter kit and give it a review.

I loved the Rose Gold version of the Target cCell Tank we reviewed, so for the review we once again visited the Rose Gold color, only this time the tank and mod are both Rose Gold. The Vaporesso Target 75W VTC Kit is available in several colors; Black, White, Stainless Steel, Purple, and of course, Rose Gold.

The trigger handle grip took a couple of hours to get used to, but once I did it became almost second nature. I tried a few different ways to grip it, but in the end I adapted to the grip I assume Vaporesso designed it to be held, right hand, fire button facing out, my thumb resting on the thumb pad directly behind the back of the tank.

Vaporesso Target 75W VTC Starter Kit Review – Spinfuel eMagazineThe complete Vaporesso Target 75W VTC kit will set you back just $59.95 at Element Vape, (replacement coil heads are $15.95 for a pack of 5) and considering you’re getting the excellent cCell Ceramic tank and a 75W Temperature Sensing mod it is a terrific deal… if YOU like the tank. Sure you can use whatever tank you want on it, but to use something other than the cCell tank is sort of a waste of money. Other, less expensive 75W TC mods can be had on the cheap. Together though, they make a pretty great team.

About Vaporesso

Vaporesso is an offshoot of the Smoore Technology company, a fairly large Shenzhen-based company specializing in ODM/OEM products. They have a workforce of more than 3,000 people, and has been working with big companies in tobacco and e-cigarette industries since 2006.  No doubt they have the experience to build their own products under the Vaporesso brand.

About the Target 75W VTC Mod

The Target 75W VTC Mod fires up to 75W and has a minimum resistance for an atomizer of 0.15-ohm (Ni200). It’s temperature control mod accommodates Ni200 wire coils.

The responsive trigger firing button works well, and the adjustment buttons and OLED screen are directly below the firing button in a vertical array. Easy to get to, easy to use. The Target mod has a nicely accented faux-leather grip which is also an easily accessible magnetic battery cover. Changing batteries is a breeze.

The Vaporesso Target 75W VTC Mod It is manufactured with ceramic-coated zinc alloy and faux-leather grip. VAPORESSO-TARGET-PARTS-2Inside is a wide array of safety protection systems including overcharge protection, short circuit protection, and so on. Standard fare these days, but nice to know.

The Target cCell Tank has a juice capacity of 3.5mL with adjustable airflow to maximize the vape experience with the cCell Coil System. The cCell System is a porous ceramic material with the cylinder structure in full contact with the e-liquid. This full contact makes for a nice balancing of the heat and e-juice absorption.

The upshot of this kind of system is that it is a self-cleaning core that delivers a stream of thick, flavorful vapor. So far, with this new cCell tank and the one we’ve had in constant use since we first received it has been spit back free. Although dry hits are still possible if you continue to vape when the tank is empty, or crank up the wattage way past the recommended value in variable wattage mode anyway. Most importantly, the cCell Ceramic Core needs some time to break in before the full flavor and vapor can be tasted, felt, and seen.

I have changed coil heads a couple of times and in all honesty, it can take an hour or more of delicate lung hits before the coil head can produce tremendous flavor and enormous vapor. Trust me, it is worth the wait. The first time I changed the coil head I allowed it to sit for about half an hour and I still scorched the coil with a sizeable lung hit. Start slow, build up to a great vape over time.

When first firing in TC mode it ramps up at 70W out of the gate, leading to a quick,Vaporesso Target 75W VTC Starter Kit Review – Spinfuel eMagazine power burst before it hits the maximum temperature, making ramp up time very short, but then cuts out sharply and a lower wattage is applied to maintain the temperature.

The Venting on the mod is excellent. The Target Mod has vent ports at the top of the battery compartment on both sides, and in addition it has thirteen holes at the base of the mod. The Target mod takes a single 18650 hi-amp (25+) battery which is not included. The Micro-USB port sits at the bottom of the front side of the device. I recommend charging outside the mod, but its there if you want it.

Combining a modern look with a small footprint the Vaporesso Target 75W VTC Starter Kit offers an innovative mod and tank set up with excellent results.

Working the Target 75W VTC Menu

Like I said above, after a short time finding the best way to grip the device made using it a simple matter. Here are a few things you’ll need to know to get into the menu system.

  • 5-click on/off.
  • 3-click flips the display orientation.
  • Hold the plus and minus buttons down 3-seconds to switch to Temperature Control mode and back.
  • While in Temperature Control mode hold the fire button and the minus button down to lock the coil resistance.
  • Hold the fire button and the plus button down to lock/unlock the device.

The Vaporesso Target 75 VTC does not have the usual setting menu. It works by “button combinations” and automatic atomizer resistance detection.

For instance, switching between variable wattage and temperature control modes is a matter of pressing the adjustment buttons for three seconds. When you change out the coil heads the mod asks if it is a new coil or the same coil so it calibrate and detect the resistance of the coil.

But there’s more. The Vaporesso Target 75 VTC is supposed to detect the type of coil you have in the tank. However, when I inserted the included Ni200 coil head while I was in variable wattage mode it didn’t stop me, nor did it switch to TC mode, nor did it tell me I was using an Ni200 coil, so I’m not so sure this feature is currently active.

Scrolling through the wattages or temperature the mod scrolls much slower than most other TC devices. Sometimes using a DNA 200 device it can take a while to get to the wattage or temperature I want because I’m always overshooting the setting I want, so I have to creep up on it, and fine tune it when I get into the neighborhood. With the Target Mod, the whole process is slower, but I don’t overshoot the target setting anymore.

iki

Battery life is typical of a single 18650 mod. If you vape a lot, as I do, a single battery will not last all day. Moderate vapers and those using lower wattage settings will see a longer battery life.

Conclusion

Vaporesso Target 75W VTC Starter Kit Review – Spinfuel eMagazineThe quality of the Vaporesso Target 75W VTC Starter Kit is superb, the cost very competitive. All the safety features are there and when you break in the Ceramic Core the vaping is flavorful and humungous. So, it’s an easy Kit to recommend. The only question you need to ask yourself is whether you like the “look” of the device. The tank is gorgeous, I don’t think anyone would disagree with that, but the gun-handle, trigger grip Mod may not be everybody’s cup of tea. But if you like the the innovative design then you’ll love the Vaporesso Target 75W VTC.  I would recommend picking up a pack of replacement coils as well, and I would make sure that you try out the Ni200 coils for the Target cCell Tank.

What I like About the Vaporesso Target 75W VTC

  • Nice, modern form factor.
  • Unique looks that won’t appeal to everyone, but I like it.
  • Excellent flavor from ceramic Kanthal and NI200 coil.
  • Coil life is excellent, although you can scorch it.
  • Great vapor production with the Target cCell tank.
  • Excellent build quality.

What I don’t like Vaporesso Target 75W VTC

  • As soon as you change your first coil head the glass tank isn’t as tight on the base as it was before. It doesn’t leak, but it is a concern.
  • Less than a week after our review of the cCell Tank I smashed the glass just by rubbing it with a dry cloth. This is not Pyrex folks.
  • The 0.9-ohm coils are barely sub-ohm, would have preferred a 0.5-ohm coil head instead.
  • The Target cCell Tank is not a top-fill tank. I’m hoping the next version will be. Once you get used to top-fill, anything else feels like going backward.
  • Other Tanks will be used, but Vaporesso allows only Ni200 wire in TC mode at this time.
