The Joyetech 510 Ultimate Starter Kit

After reading Julia’s review about her choice for an ‘out in the public’ vaping choice I decided to divulge my own choice for a mini-ecig for those times when I go out to eat, play golf, go to the beach, or out in my buddy’s boat. I am even more discrete that Julia is, I don’t like taking chances that someone is going to deride me for smoking, especially when I’m not smoking. Here in South Florida “Smokers Derangement Syndrome” isn’t too bad, but when someone does goes after you for it they can be merciless.

Joyetech 510

My choice is this cool starter kit I picked up at MyVaporStore, our favorite vendor. With a battery sporting the MVS logo directly under the 510 threading, the Joyetech Ultimate Starter Kit delivers a complete system, including two of those batteries which are no bigger than a real tobacco cigarette, but powerful enough to provide a good vaping experience, as good as a cigarette provides a good ‘smoking’ experience. And best of all you can pick up the Ultimate Starter Kit for $84.95 (on sale and in stock right now!) at MyVaporStore.

There are several things I really like about the Joyetech 510. Best of all it IS a Joyetech, one of the finest names in this vicious, cutthroat business of eCigarettes. Joyetech doesn’t cut corners and they last a lot longer than other batteries in its class. And since MyVaporStore sells it I don’t have to worry about it being a counterfeit Joyetech, or an unauthorized Joyetech.  I trust the name and I trust the vendor.

Specs:

The Ultimate Starter Kit includes

  • 2 x Rechargeable Manual Button Batteries (3.7v) eCigarette reviews
  • 2 x Atomizers
  • 1 x USA Battery Charger
  • 5 x Cartridges
  • 1 x User Manual
  • —-
  • 1 x PCC
  • 1 x 510 High Powered PassThru
  • 1 x Wall to USB Converter (USB pass-through compatible)

Batteries – The two (2) batteries are both manually activated, meaning you need to hold down a button in order to draw in the vapor. Manual operation is ALWAYS better than automatic and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. The batteries last longer and the vapor production is higher than letting everything sit at a ‘slow burn’ in automatic. If you are new to vaping and just coming over from the land of tobacco get used to depressing a button to draw on your ecigarette because that is how its done, at least among people looking for a nice solid lung full of vapor.

Because I am a heavy Vaper I get about 2 hours of vaping with one of these batteries. They recharge faster than they discharge so you don’t have to worry about running out of power. Of course, when compared to larger battery devices 2 hours is nothing, but the Joyetech 510 is a tiny battery, smaller than you think unless you’ve seen one in person, and 2 hours is a good long time with today’s battery technology. If you’ve seen a battery from Blu Cigs Premium line that’s the size of this Joyetech 510, but the battery lasts much longer than the plaque-ridden Blu battery.

3-Piece Design is My Preference

The Joyetech is sold as a 3-piece eCigarette, and the atomizers that come with it are small but more than capable. The cartridges might seem like ‘old-school’ because they are filled with a fiber material for the eLiquid to absorb into, but I like this way better than the more ‘talked about’ eTank system. And they are round tipped like a cigarette or cartomizer, making the experience more ‘cigarette-like’. I prefer the 3-piece design, especially with this kit, because the ‘burn’ of the atomizer/cartridge is as powerful as vaping a ‘dual coil’ cartomizer.

Here are a couple of hints to help you successfully use a 3-piece design.

The Joyetech Battery outputs at 3.7v, which is plenty powerful for a successful vaping experience consisting of big flavor, big vapor, and a big throat hit from such a small setup. The secret is not only completely saturate the cartridge with eLiquid; you must also place 2 or 3 drops of the eLiquid directly on the atomizer’s pointy pen-like metal that sticks up into the cartridge. That is the only way you’re going to be able to get the cartridge/atomizer performing at maximum performance.  Otherwise by the time you’ve primed the cartridge (draw on the tip to pull the eLiquid from the cartridge and onto the atomizer) you’ve already shortened its life and most probably weakened it.

If you see performance began to decline long before you think the battery is getting week (the battery is good for about 200-250 puffs before you need to recharge it), then just lift out the cartridge and drop a couple of drops of eLiquid on the atomizer again. After a day or so of use the atomizer will be broken in and you won’t need to prime it but once, when you first fill your cartridge. An atomizer starts out as new and not performing at its maximum potential and during its peak life it gets better and better, and then as it nears the end of its life, about 3 to 4 weeks with proper care and normal vaping, the performance begins to degrade. It’s not that an atomizer is a high-maintenance device, but you do need to make sure its not clogged and it is free from debris.

My other ‘hint’ for getting the most out of a mini-ecig like this tiny Joyetech is to never use a thick eLiquid with it. First, it’s almost impossible to get a thick juice saturated into the cartridge, and second, it can and will clog up your atomizer and you’ll spend in inordinate amount of time unclogging it. If you do these two things your performance and flavor will outperform the cartomizer every time. Believe it. Oh, and my choice of eLiquid is Mountain Oak Vapors and their eLiquid is a nice thin juice that’s perfect for cartomizers and cartridges.

A word about CARTOMIZERS

If you really don’t like the 3-piece design but you do like the size of the Joyetech battery you can always use a cartomizer with it. It works fine, but you will notice a slight decrease in both vapor production and battery life, although that is offset some because of the manual activation.

I myself will sometimes, but rarely, fill a couple of cartos and take them with me if I’m planning to be out for a while, but that’s because I don’t want to take a bottle of eLiquid with me, its easier to just screw on a carto. Most of the time though I take the time to fill a few cartridges and place them in the Personal Charging Case (PCC) that comes with the Ultimate Kit and then I can get the max performance wherever I happen to be. But cartos will do in clinch. If you decide to opt for the normal, non-Ultimate Starter Kit you won’t get the PCC so you’ll have to find another solution for carrying extra cartos/cartridges. The regular starter kit is only $39.95 so if you looking for an introductory starter kit for a newbie Vaper this is a great buy.

The Pass Thru

Available in the Ultimate Starter Kit (and as a separate purchase) the Joyetech chrome pass-thru is a gorgeous faux-battery with a coiled up USB cable. You plug in the USB cable to your computer, a USB hub, or in the wall charger, and you can vape until the cows come home without worrying about running out of power. It’s the best pass-thru I’ve ever used, and I’ve used plenty of them. Vaping with a pass-thru means getting the maximum vaping experience whenever you want. In the case of using a pass-thru and a 510 cartomizer you’ll get a perfectly fine, consistent vape, a vape that gives you plenty of vapor and power that will satisfy your needs like nothing else can. Getting used to a vaping with a battery attached to a USB cable take a little time, but once you’re used to it you’ll love having it around.

Why Should You Buy The Joyetech 510 Ultimate Starter Kit ?

There is nothing more discrete than using one of the smallest 510 batteries you can buy. The Joyetech is the best brand you can buy, and you will love the way it performs, just don’t try and compare it to a ZMAX or a Lambo, you know? For a 510 mini battery this one is one of the best. Period. And MyVaporStore not only has it a great price but they stand behind everything they sell so if something goes wrong you won’t be left holding the bag.

New to Vaping?

If you are just getting off cigarettes its best to start off with something that is very close to the same size and feel as the cigarettes you’re leaving behind. You may be inclined to start off with a 2-piece mini-eCig like a 777 eCigs, and if that’s what you really want to do, that’s fine, 777 eCigs is one of the best mini-eCigs on the market. But, at some point in time, it could be a month or 6 months, you are going to want to move up to something larger and better than what a mini-ecig can do (even the Joyetech 510) and when that happens you’re going to need to learn how to fill cartos, cartridges, tanks, clearos, and generally get used to working with eLiquids. That being the case, why not start off with a 3-piece ecigarette and when the time comes to move up you will be that much more ahead than had you started with the 2-Piece. Not only that, but hanging on the mini-eCig gives you the equipment you’ll need to vape in public and not draw any undue attention to yourself.

Veteran Vapers

Until the day comes when it’s okay to pull out your ZMAX or Lambo out and vape on the bus, in the store, or anywhere else you are going to want to be discrete about your vaping. But you already know that and chances are you are either avoiding vaping in public or you’re using another brand. Nothing wrong with that, no one likes a showoff. There are hundreds of choices to make when it comes to buying something that you can get a decent amount of flavor, vapor and throat hit from it. Oh wait, that’s NOT true. There are only a handful of products that can do that, most of which we’ve reviewed in Spinfuel. I chose the Joyetech 510 because it’s so small, yet so powerful, that I can vape in the middle of crowd and they’d never know it. As a matter of fact, if you move to the Joyetech 510 and you’re now using another mini-eCig you should compare the two side by said, you’ll wonder how you never noticed how much bigger the old mini is over a regular cigarette.

Conclusion

Whether or not you’re looking for something new because you yourself are new to vaping, or if like me (and everyone at Spinfuel) you want to vape in public and not announce it to everyone around you, you’re going to want something you can hide on person, and use without drawing attention. But you need it to actually produce vapor in quantities you’re used to (or at least close) and deliver on the flavor too. Otherwise what’s the point? There are a few that can do that, I’m not going to say that the Joyetech 510 is the only one, but what I will say is that the Joyetech 510 is MY choice, and when it comes to performance I won’t accept just anything.

You can’t go wrong with a genuine Joyetech and you can’t go wrong by getting it from MyVaporStore. The Joyetech 510 Ultimate Kit comes complete with everything you need, including the ultimate pass-thru device, at a price that won’t empty your wallet.

Why get stuck using some crappy tasting Chinese eLiquid in a cheap cartomizer starter kit when you can buy into the Joyetech name and use any eLiquid you want (as long as its not thick), and vape on YOUR terms.

It doesn’t cure cancer, it won’t cause peace to break out in the Middle East, and it won’t make liberals and conservative hug each other and sing ‘kumbya’. What it can do, what it will do, is give you an honest vape at a fair price. Isn’t that what you want?

I do.
