Have you heard the term Delta-8 thrown around and have no idea what it actually means? Have you wondered how you can get your hands on delta-8 and want to know a bit more about it first?

xIn recent years, the marijuana industry has grown incredibly quickly and this is all down to the fact that countries around the world are slowly starting to legalise the use of recreational marijuana all since 2012. The industry is constantly evolving and finding new ways to grow such as offering a plethora of different products and a wide variety of different benefits that the use of marijuana offers.

What is Delta-8 and what makes it different?

One of these products just so happens to be Delta-8. Delta-8 has recently become a big talking point among the people in the industry and is known to be extremely controversial. It has been banned in many physical stores, but these delta 8 concentrates are still available online, at stores such as Vape Showcase. If you have heard the name but don’t know what it is, this is what you need to know.

What is it?

If you are very interested in the world of marijuana and cannabis, you may have heard the term delta-8 being thrown around. Delta-8 is a hot topic of conversation among those in the marijuana industry and it’s not hard to see why. Delta-8 is a compound of that is derived from the hemp plant which is similar to that of the compound from the cannabis plant, THC. THC, also known as tetrahydrocannabinol, is the compound that is known to give you that euphoric high that people seek when smoking weed. Essentially, Delta-8 gives you the same kind of high, although maybe just not as intense.

Delta -8 and THC are both derivative of the same compound in the THC is actually Delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol and delta-8 is delta-8 tetrahydrocannabinol. Basically, both of THC products but one is extracted from hemp with is legal and one is extracted from cannabis which isn’t entirely legal as of yet.

Potency and effects

Just like THC, delta-8 is said to give users that kind of euphoric high that most marijuana users seek. It is said that users of delta-8 will most likely experience feelings of euphoria, happiness, uplifting feelings, and even some forms of pain relief. Although it is important to note that the potency of delta-8 is not quite as strong as that of THC and therefore might not give your as strong of a high as you might expect.

Just like with THC there are some side effects that come along with using delta-8 too. These include paranoia, anxiety, red eyes, dry mouth, getting the muchies and even short-term memory loss.

How is it different from CBD?

We’ve discussed the various different ways in which delta-8 is similar and different to THC, but there are also various different ways in which it can be comparable and different to CBD too. CBD is known as the compound from the cannabis plant which is the medicinal compound. It is great for a multitude of different medical conditions as well as relieving pain and reducing inflammation.

It is very clear to see that delta-8 has far more similarities to THC than to CBD, however, it does offer a few of the benefits that CBD offers such as pain relief and reduced inflammation.

What is the controversy about?

Surely if THC is now legal and marijuana is also legal in a lot of places around the world then people would have a problem with Delta 8 considering its essentially just a less potent version of THC, but this is not the case. The controversy comes in, in the fact that delta-8 is derived from the hemp plant which is legal to grow worldwide as it is a plant that is used to create a bunch of different materials. However, the cannabis plant is only legal in a few places around the world and only in places where consumption of it is legal too.

Technically, people who are wanting to smoke something like THC in an area where it is illegal, they could smoke delta-8. The problem with this is that THC and marijuana are still illegal here meaning that technically, so should delta-8 but there is not clear line as to what if legal from the hemp plant.
