Julia and the Spinfuel eLiquid Review Team – Honey BabyMr. Good Vape – Honey Baby Released August 1st 2014. – $12-$65
For those of you that may not be aware of our newest member of the family, Tony Brittan of Spinfuel’s Vapor Trail Channel reviewed this eLiquid last week. He liked it, though I got the impression it wasn’t something he would want to vape all the time, or in Spinfuel-Speak, put it in his rotation. Tony says he isn’t a melon guy, in so many words, and I can identify with that. If I’m going to vape melon, or honey dew, it has to be sweet.
Honey Baby – A Spinfuel Choice Award Winner
We received several bottles of Honey Baby by Mr. Good Vape in various nicotine levels. The first thing I noticed about Honey Baby is the golden color of the juice. As you can see in the accompanying photo, Mr. Good Vape shows Honey Baby as a nearly transparent color. I wasn’t around when the box was first opened a couple of weeks ago, so the color issue could be a matter of sitting here for a couple of weeks. Of course, the result of sitting around for a couple of weeks simply means that when I began vaping it the peak flavor of Honey Baby was shinning through.
Honey Baby is described as:
“With such a delicious combination of Honey Dew, doubled up against another fresh Honey Dew Melon, complimented with a sweet touch of Honeysuckle, combined with a gentle underbelly of exotic vanilla from Madagascar and of course a simple but tasteful note of mango and guava to finish it off. “
Sounds incredible, doesn’t it. For our readers that are not familiar with Madagascar vanilla, here’s a little information for you…
Madagascar Vanilla is Martha Stewart’s ultimate vanilla. According to Ms. Stewart it doesn’t get any better than Madagascar Vanilla. It is also know as Bourbon Vanilla, and it is produced in Madagascar and neighboring islands in the southwestern Indian Ocean, as well as Indonesia. Madagascar is responsible for 90% of the world’s vanilla, but it should also be noted that 95% of all vanilla products, are produced with artificially flavored vanillin that is derived from lignin instead of vanilla fruits.
So, does Mr. Good Vape use a vanilla extract of genuine Madagascar vanilla? I think they do, otherwise it isn’t vanilla at all, its artificial vanilla. Go to the grocery store and check out the price of real vanilla extract and artificial vanilla flavoring. Big difference. So here, I have to believe that when Mr. Good Vape says its Madagascar vanilla, it is just that.
The Complexity of Honey Baby:
After all the words above about Madagascar Vanilla you might expect vanilla to have a large presence in Honey Baby, but it doesn’t. Although it does provide a terrific link between the fruits, it is not the dominant flavor. The first flavor you’ll notice is honeydew…. delicious, powerful, authentic, honeydew melon flavor. In fact, I’ll go as far as saying that of all the honeydew melon flavors I’ve experienced in vapor form, nothing has tasted as true to life as the honeydew in Honey Baby.
The second flavor to come at you is honeysuckle. Honeysuckle is a flavor I can’t mistake due to my affair with a honeysuckle eliquid earlier this year. It is both sweet and ever so slightly floral. A flavor you don’t see in many eliquids because it is hard to tame. Once tamed it is a marvelous vaping experience.
Gentle Underbelly: On the exhale, after your taste buds adapt to the heavy honeydew flavor, a gentle underbelly of vanilla is the best way to describe the vanilla flavor in Honey Baby.
When Keira, Jason, Tom and I review an eliquid we vape it during various times of the day, doing various things… after we wake up, after breakfast, before lunch, and so on, so that we can get a true sense of the flavor and when an eliquid tastes best and under what circumstances. That’s important to keep in mind when we render our verdicts on Honey Baby. And, because we received several bottles there was plenty to pass around to the rest of the team.
About 24 hours or so after the team went away with several milliliters of Honey Baby I showed them what I had written about it and asked it they wanted to add anything else. Each of them agreed 100% with my flavor description. The only things they wanted to weight in on was whether or not they would add it to their rotation, and whether or not they thought Honey Baby was a 5 Star eLiquid.
Julia’s Take On Honey Baby
Honey Baby, if you like honeydew vapes, is an eliquid you will adore. It is one of the best, if not the best, honeydew eliquids I’ve ever had. Despite being predominately a honeydew flavor it is teeming with complexity. The delicate honeysuckle and the tender vanilla notes make Honey Baby the first honeydew eliquid I will add to my rotation. Heavy rotation, as a matter of fact.
Honey Baby is an all-day-vape for anyone and everyone that enjoys the flavor of honeydew. I can promise you that once you begin vaping Honey Baby you will not want to be without it.
What sealed the deal for me was during my review period with the Aspire Nautilus Mini (upcoming). I filled its belly with Honey Baby and experienced more flavor, more vapor, and more satisfaction that I have ever before with a honeydew eliquid. Amazing doesn’t begin to describe this incredible vape. 5 Stars
The Team Chimes In
Tom McBride: Not an everyday vape for me, but a true work of art nonetheless. Intense sweet flavor of honeydew, with equally intense vapor production and a wicked throat hit (18mg). If this doesn’t take home the award then something is seriously wrong. 5 Stars
Jason Little: The first Honey Dew eliquid I can honestly say deserves a spot in my rotation. Had someone told me before Honey Baby that honeydew eliquid could be this good, I’d tell them they were crazy. It is that good, hands down delicious. Wonderful vapor production, powerful throat hit (18mg) and definitely an all-day-vape. 5 Stars
Keira Hartley-Barnes: Honey Baby delivers every flavor that it’s made with. Pure sweet honeydew, deliciously awkward honeysuckle, and a delicate layer of vanilla, combines in ways I’ve never dreamed of before. I could vape it forever. Incredibly thick vapor only makes it more desirable than the flavor alone. A masterpiece! 5 Stars
Conclusion and Buying Advice
Mr. Good Vape is not an inexpensive eLiquid line. It is what I like to call, uber-premium, and the price reflects that. A 15ML bottle is $12, and the price goes up to $65 for 120ML. It is available is 15ML, 30ML, 60ML, and 120ML. Honey Baby has a VG/PG ratio of 40% PG and 60% VG.
Nicotine strengths are 3, 6, 9, 12, 18, and 24mg nicotine. A nic-free option is also available.
Whether or not a 15ML bottle of eliquid is worth $12 is, of course, completely up to you. I would venture to say that if you were looking for the best honeydew eliquid that would also work as an all-day-vape then by all means spring for a bottle and be delighted beyond your dreams. If you’re not a fan of honeydew flavors then pass it by, you probably won’t like it. Keira and I plan on keeping it around, Tom and Jason will not. Considering Tom and Jason’s proclivity for tobacco, coffee, and custard vapes I can’t say I blame them.
Honey Baby is a new experience for Keira and I. While we have enjoyed fruity vapes before, and even vaped other honeydew flavors without much objection, we’ve never enjoyed one enough to keep on buying it. Honey Baby has changed our opinion on just how good a honeydew eliquid can be.
