Intro and Specs for the Aegis Legend Limited Edition
Okay, we dropped the ball. In the wake of all these blind, deaf and dumb arguments regarding misguided vaping bans, we let a top-tier kit come and go without even mentioning it. So, while our vape site peers have covered the Geek Vape Aegis Legend Limited Edition kit since July, we’re just getting to it now. Because, as you know, we won’t rush out a make-believe review just to be first. We want to be right, so we take time, and we use it… a lot.
That said, 2 months later we are ready to put out the real record. Soon, we’re reveal our thoughts about the Aegis X. (with the Cerebus Tank) Maybe it’s the exact same device. Maybe this is nothing but a new coat of paint. But the fact remains that the Aegis Legend is not only STILL a highly desirable vape mod kit, but it’s also better paired than ever before. Let’s dive in.

Impressions/Aesthetics of the Aegis Legend
Don’t bother breaking out those measuring tapes – the Aegis Legend Limited Edition is the same mod you know and love, albeit with some nicer design choices on the leather, and a slightly more “velvety” feel to the rubber exterior.
Impressions/Aesthetics Cont…
Though it’s a bit bulky, the Aegis Legend is surprisingly ergonomic, considering the overall heft of the device. The rubberized coating and leather grip definitely add some weight, but the Aegis Legend never feels heavy. It just feels durable.
Hand-Feel
No matter how you slice it, the mod just feels fantastic in the hand. Whether you hold your mod in a left or right hand, trigger or thumb grip, Geek Vape thought of you. In other words, there aren’t too many ways to hold the Aegis Legend incorrectly, and I’ve never felt more “at home” with a higher-end vape mod than I did with the Legend, after such a short duration.
Rough and Tumble
One of the coolest features about the Aegis Legend Special Edition is its IP67 water-resistant, dustproof exterior, aiming itself at the “rough and tumble” crowd. Okay, maybe that’s a stretch, but I can see vapers who work in factories, farms or otherwise dusty and potentially messy environments finding something to love here. But that’s not to say this isn’t a classy looking device, either. The premium leather grip adds a sense of distinction to the durability.
Standout Features of the Aegis Legend
Though there’s nothing specifically different about the Limited Edition versus the original Aegis Legend, this new rendition stands out because of one major plus – the Zeus sub-ohm tank, which might be the best “add in” tank we’ve seen in a kit this year.
Hyperbole? Maybe. But there’s just something different about the 26mm Zeus tank when compared to the approximately 1,200 sub-ohm contenders we see every month. Maybe it’s the locking drip tip and secure feel? Maybe it’s the squatty but substantial look and feel? What about the supposed “top to bottom airflow?”
Nah. It’s the coils. The Zeus MeshZ coil heads blew me away with the amount of rich, nuanced flavor and room-filling vapor this tank produced right out of the gate. Within minutes of priming the 0.4 and 0.2-ohm mesh heads, I had two Aegis Legends cranking simultaneous plumes of goodness, with both offering similar levels of performance.
The plug-and-play heads sit in the Zeus tank securely, never once leaking or offering any odd misfires during my testing. If there’s ANY complaints to be had, it’s that both heads only offered 4-5 days of moderate use before tapping out. This is a little short by current standards, but while it lasts, the Zeus sub-ohm heads are just fantastic.
Unlike most companion tanks from kits we review, we highly recommend seeking out the Zeus when you’re in the market for a new sub-ohm tank. (Review coming soon)

Vaping the Geek Vape Aegis Legend Limited Edition
As always, the Aegis Legend is a breeze to operate. While the screen is predictable and pedestrian, it does its job extremely well for the linear, well-thought menus lying underneath. The only tricky part is the dual-press feature that allows you to change some options – it’s awkward and really not clear in its purpose.
The temperature control features are functional and precise, as long as you have a little experience tinkering with coil resistances and subtle adjustments. My problem with the Legend is that the TC and TCR modes don’t go any further than a million similar devices. And as a result, the Legend feel less like an actual high-end TC mod, and more like a wattage mod that happens to have TC functionality.
Don’t get me wrong, the Legend isn’t going to make you a better student of the TC game, nor is it going to make you forget about YiHi chipsets. But the mod has just enough local customization to keep power users interested.
But on the plus side, the updated AS chipset shows a distinct battery life improvement over the original Aegis Legend, which only makes me happier about this kit. The original was no slouch, but a pair of 18650s took me through most of a workday and happy hour without petering out.
Pros:
– Improved battery life
– Nicer leather and rubber exterior
– This is just an awesome mod series
Cons:
– It’s kind of bulky and big, no matter how you shake it
– The ornate design options aren’t for everyone
– TC mode is still pretty pedestrian
Spinfuel VAPE Recommendation and Score
For vapers who are looking specifically for a sub-ohm, dual 18650 battery, box mod kit that is reliable and easy to use, the device covers all the bases. The 200W Aegis Legend Limited Edition is definitely a workmanlike mod wrapped in a shinier exterior. If you’re a fan of the series, and want to add to your collection, there’s certainly worse ways to spend your vaping money.
