We have been absolutely SPOILED with new DNA devices lately. And I don’t just mean the Spinfuel VAPE crew. The entire vaping world has been blessed with some seriously advanced hardware of late, and with the holidays fast approaching, we can only imagine many of our wish lists will include this gem – the Lost Vape Paranormal DNA166 Mod.
As the spiritual successor to the well-received Therion, the Paranormal brings a similarly awesome slate of features to the table, beginning with the vaunted DNA 166 chipset. The Paranormal will offer 167 watts of power (one bonus watt more than advertised!) along with Evolv’s industry-leading temperature control suite and Escribe software compatibility.

Though we haven’t yet received the Paranormal mod, we certainly expect the TC offerings to be suitably deep and customizable, from ramp-up to TCR and seemingly every variable possible. Our Review of the Lost Vape Paranormal DNA75c can tell you what to expect with respect to the quality of the build and the building materials used in its construction.
Lost Vape is claiming the chipset will also provide “97% power efficiency” – something we need to investigate further before commenting. We DO know that the step-down voltage protection is a feature that might not garner headlines, but is one we’re glad the board provides.

Another question we have about the Paranormal comes from the promotional materials, which claim the device’s chipset is actually “down throttled” to maximize efficiency and performance. Does this mean the mod uses a HIGHER power chip, with a control lock? Or is this simply oddly translated marketing speak? Either way, we fully expect to test this board with all our might, to get to the bottom of things.
Though we have some lingering questions, one thing that isn’t up for debate is how stunning the Lost Vape Paranormal is, from top to bottom. Whether we receive the wood-paneled, resin or carbon fiber version is irrelevant; the combination of luxury materials with durable, die-cast zinc alloy and leather trim meshes to produce a striking device worthy of the attention it will receive.

On a more functional level, the Lost Vape Paranormal also features an extremely durable-looking frame and chassis, with a solid locking two-battery bay, 24K gold-plated contact points, and an extremely ergonomic form factor. Though not a dramatic departure from Lost Vape’s other mods, the Paranormal certainly looks to take this marriage of elegance and performance very seriously.
Price wise, the Paranormal will fall right in the middle of the range vapers have come to expect for this level of technology and craftsmanship. Regardless, there are a lot of mods that come and go from these offices, but our DNA devices tend to stick around, becoming our trusty “go to” mods when so many others fail over time. This alone justifies the price in our opinions.
But let’s not get ahead of ourselves – we need to test the mod first! We’re beyond excited to put the Lost Vape Paranormal DNA166 to the test this week. Check back soon for a detailed breakdown, from finish to function, and every detail in between.
