Up in Vape – Musings

Greetings my dear readers, this week’s column, titled “Musings”, as I don’t have a real topic to come up with.  First and foremost, I want to congratulate Matt as my winner of the 4 pack of “Wet Stacheeliquid, congrats Matt!   Thanks for commenting, all of you, and I wish I could send you all some Wet Stache e juice.

Musings

I know my column for this week is late, I know the reason is twofold.  My main topic this week was going to be an expansion of my second article concerning chronic pain and vaping.

However, after 3 or 4 days on a couple different Facebook pages that I haunt the best I could get was from my friend Ryan who had caught a bullet in his leg while on active duty with the U.S. Army. His method to quell the pain was ibuprofen and whiskey, to be more precise ibuprofen and liquor.  While I have done that in the past with mixed results, nowadays with the few prescription meds I have to take, unless I plan the day before, any alcohol is now not high on my list, at any time.  However, when our daughter visits and she wants to do a shooter of that popular cinnamon flavored whiskey or bourbon…. who am I to say no to one shot?

As far as my second reason goes, we have had nasty weather here for the past 1 or 2 days, and those of you who suffer with chronic pain know; we do wind up being pretty damn good barometers.  I felt this weather rolling in a couple days before, and when it finally did dump on us yesterday or the day before, I felt like hammered shit dragged down ten miles of bad road…still do for that matter.  I debated whether or not to skip this week and just pick it back up next week, but I said to myself…. “self…. you can not disappoint your readers”, so here I am.

You know, well maybe you do and maybe you don’t, but there are NO, absolutely NONE, pages on Facebook dealing with vaping and chronic pain.  I know, I looked, did searches using pain, chronic pain and vaping or vapor…. nothing, nada, not one damn page dealing with vapers who deal with chronic pain on a daily basis.  I actually did give some thought to starting a Facebook page dealing with those who vape and suffer from chronic pain. But, I am not on Facebook often enough to make it work. However, since I began writing this column I have been trying to watch Facebook, Twitter, Tumbler, Reddit a lot more than I have in the past 6-8 months.  Prior to writing this column I think I could count on one hand the number of times I had been on any social media page.  Now, I try and get on at least once a week, more when I can, but once a week for me is doing good.

I need to do better, I know, and with my column gaining popularity I try and get back here to see if there are any comments to answer, and try to keep up with Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter, a Sailor, and a Candlestick maker…oh wait…see that’s what I get for reading nursery rhymes to my granddaughter, while feeling like crap and thinking about my column all at the same time.

Sorry folks, I’m losing it, or have lost what little I have left.  As I tell my daughters, and my wife… our son, while he may not get what I’m saying, gets it as he and everyone else have started with; “My kidneys are working well today”, or, “my kidneys aren’t working so well today”.  “Kidneys” is a term I use to refer to the gray matter between my ears.  That said, my kidneys are definitely not working today, I think they went on vacation or something.

Ideas

Time for some seriousness folks, this isn’t the column I had planned on for this week, but hopefully it will do.  I always appreciate comments from my readers, that way I know if I’m doing well or not.

I do have an idea on how we chronic pain/vapers can get together and talk about our problems and solutions when it comes to pain. A special Spinfuel Forum!

If there is enough interest expressed by your comments below today’s column I will ask my boss to set up a special forum for us. So if you think it’s something you would like to be a part of, sound off in the comments.

Coping

What do you vape to help when the pain overtakes you?  I know there aren’t a lot of you who vape something to help quell or even help stave of the pain when it hits us hard, (geez, I hope I’m wrong, I hope there are tens of thousands of you who vape something for pain control). I would love to know how you cope with the pain as it relates to vaping.

Anyway, I’m gonna say Ciao until next week, hopefully I’ll be more on the ball than I am this week.  Thank you all so very much for taking the time to read my column, it is GREATLY appreciated. Until next week the, be well, stay safe, God bless, and….VAPE ON!
