Sound familiar? Well, it won’t seem that way once you see the Fat Rabbit — one of the most unique looking tanks on this, or any list. But don’t be fooled by the celebrity endorsements and “tough” imagery on the box the Fat Rabbit is laser-focused on flavor, rather than just cloud production. Sure, the tank can kick out some thick plumes of vapor, but based on the smaller coil head format and narrowish chimney, the Rabbit is really meant for more dignified vaping pursuits.

We are genuinely surprised by how strong a flavor performer the Fat Rabbit turned out to be. While Hellvape always makes flavorful products, it seemed like this tank was really designed for cloudy pursuits. But we were wrong in assuming that, because — while the Fat Rabbit can chuck some vapor, this tank was meant to bring out the best from your e-liquids, which it does time and time again.

Simple, unadulterated flavor. This is what Innokin intended for the Zlide, making it a real winner for MTL vapers. While it seems like more and more atomizers are coming to market with multiple uses for a wider range of users, the Zlide honors its famous endorsers by staying true to the mouth-to-lung style of vaping.

I suppose you could try and put the Zlide to work as a restricted lung atomizer, since it’s technically compatible with Innokin’s entire Z-Coil lineup, but if you want this kit to work as intended, stick to MTL use and you won’t be disappointed.

No matter which of the Z-Coils you use, you’ll enjoy flawless wicking, flavor and vapor, even when chain vaping. The Z-Coils have always been impressive, but using them in the Zlide D22 might be the best use case for the series to date.

One of the biggest surprises of the year was the high-performing EHPro Raptor sub-ohm tank. Maybe it’s a little derivative of some market leaders, if we think of things in terms of evolution, maybe it’s only right that my current favorite sub-ohm tank is the HorizonTech Falcon, because falcons evolved from — you guessed it — raptors.

Durability is the name of the game here, and the Raptor big time. Most sub-ohm coils have lifespans that can be measured in days and hours, not weeks. Yet the Raptor heads gave me nearly two weeks of moderate-to-heavy vaping before tapping out.

Coils are the lifeblood of any sub-ohm tank, and the Zeus MeshZ coil heads blew me away with the amount of rich, nuanced flavor and room-filling vapor this tank produced right out of the gate. Within minutes of priming the 0.4 and 0.2-ohm mesh heads, I had two Aegis Legends cranking simultaneous plumes of goodness, with both offering similar levels of performance.

In addition to being a different-looking atomizer, the plug-and-play heads sit in the Zeus tank securely, never once leaking or offering any odd misfires during my testing. I just set them, filled and enjoyed, making the Zeus a fantastic proposition for any sub-ohm vaper.

Unlike most companion tanks from kits we review, we highly recommend seeking out the Zeus on its own when you’re in the market for a new sub-ohm tank.

The SKRR-S is a fantastic sub-ohm tank with a range of great coils to choose from along the way. Whether you like the proven performance of those nubby little GT heads, or prefer a modern mesh alternative, this is what versatility looks like in 2019.

Maybe the high-flow, high-thirst coils makes juice consumption a concern, but the performance is too good to care. Just have some e-liquid on you at all times when vaping the SKRR-S.

Of the two included coils, the QF mesh head provided the higher flavor clarity than the QF Strip, but both are quite good and will keep you satisfied for a lot longer than you’d expect given the massive, room-filling cloud production.

More importantly, all of this flavor and vapor comes with zero leaking and a much-improved screw-off cap. While I always prefer a flip-top fill system for convenience, this is a small price to pay for top-tier performance.

Anyone who’s read our tank reviews over the last few years is well-aware of our love of the original Uwell Valyrian sub-ohm tank. Even if we didn’t exactly agree on the usefulness of the tube inserts, the Valyrian was nonetheless a high-performing sub-ohm leader that really didn’t need gimmicks to stand out from the crowd.

Well, I feel the exact same way about the Valyrian II as I did about the original. This larger, higher-capacity tank takes everything that worked on its predecessor and improves on it. With 6mL of juice capacity, self-cleaning Pro-FOCS flavor technology and outstanding coils, this behemoth doesn’t sacrifice an ounce of flavor, no matter its massive size.

Other than some weird coil resistance discrepancies — we suggest running your mods 10-15 watts LOWER than the suggested ratings before venturing higher, to see where your sweet spot might be — this is about as reliable as sub-ohm tanks get.

Bottom line — the Valyrian II tank is a keeper, no matter your vaping desire. If its flavor you want, it delivers in style. If you want clouds, prepare to vent your room. If you want long-lasting coils that deliver maximum value for the dollar, Uwell is on top of their game here.

Let me repeat a corny line from my review: When is a sub-ohm tank not a sub-ohm tank? When it’s a work of art. Yeah, I just wrote that, and I’d do it again. For the last few years, after using hundreds of tanks and RTAs, only a handful still get regular use. And more than one of them have “Freemax” written on the side. And the Freemax Fireluke 2 – a shining example of how to do this whole “vaping thing” correctly.

I’m going to say what sub-ohm tank enthusiasts have wanted to hear for years – the line between RDA and sub-ohm tank flavor is now seriously blurred. Fight me on this if you prefer, but the Fireluke 2 coils are beyond impressive, and frankly, there are few (if any) competing tanks offering anywhere near this level of performance.

And in a nice surprise, the TX coils aren’t all that thirsty, so you won’t notice the diminished capacity nearly as much as you might think. Plus, in an even nicer development, the Fireluke 2 coils are cross-compatible with the original Fireluke Mesh tank, adding even more value to a RIDICULOUSLY generous sub-ohm offering.

You’ll be more than satisfied with the flavor production and cloud production with any of the three options, and as long as your mod can output at least 90W and can handle a 28mm wide tank, you will be very happy.

After using several TFV16s since we first published a review, our collective stance hasn’t really changed — size, capacity and leak-free performance are the name of the game here. Though we can’t really say the TFV16 is leaps and bounds better than SMOK’s countless other “beasts” we continue to enjoy the strong flavor and vapor production from this jumbo line of tanks.

Yeah, the Famovape Vector coils are fantastic. The first pair gave me nearly three weeks of performance each. That’s great performance for a low-wattage MTL atomizer, much less a juice-hungry sub-ohm offering, but that’s exactly what’s happened here.

Both coils offer similar levels of flavor and vapor, but if you only get to choose one, the triple-coil head is one of the best we’ve seen to date. Plus, we did check out the Vector with its cross-compatible SMOK and Vaporesso coil heads, and all fit beautifully, performing nearly as well as the stock coils.

Well, this one wasn’t a surprise. If you’re not familiar with HorizonTech’s tanks, they’ve long been an innovator in creating simple, but effective new ways to wick e-liquid to the coil, and their latest mesh offerings continue the trend in grand fashion, blending the mesh we know and love with bamboo fiber blend cotton. This results in smooth-wicking, pure flavor performance unmatched by many tanks on the market.

Both coils proved to not only be instantly flavorful, but also long-lasting, giving me a very respectable six days of high-performance (and high-wattage) vaping, before finally starting to fade at the one-week mark.

Of the two, I lean slightly (and I mean slightly) toward the higher-resistance dual coil for flavor and vapor performance, but the difference is negligible at best – both did an amazing job.

Here’s your one-line recommendation: Buy the HorizonTech Falcon King sub-ohm tank. Run, do not walk to your local vape shop. There aren’t many vape tanks that deliver this much enjoyment with so few negatives along the way. And even fewer come from companies we trust as much as HorizonTech.
