SMOK V-FIN 160W & TFV12 Big Baby Prince Kit Preview

One, maybe two major surprises…. Yea, two surprises… with the new SMOK V-Fin Starter Kit. The first is the existence of the previously unannounced TFV12 BigBaby Prince (6mL capacity). This is a new Sub-Ohm Tank folks. The SMOK Baby Princehas a capacity of 4.5mL, the full-size TFV12 Prince is 8mL, and the Big Baby Prince is 6mL. The other major surprise is the V-Fin is using an internal, non-removable battery with a whopping 8000mAH.

Having just received our shipment of V-Fins I haven’t had much time to use one, but from the looks of things, the SMOK V-FIN and Big Baby Prince might actually become a Kit I put into my rotation, which means it could be added to our Best Starter Kits piece we’re currently working on. It will depend on the battery life, but 8000mAh is no laughing matter, I expect to get ALL DAY vaping from a fully charged V-Fin.

The SMOK V-FIN 160W TC Starter Kit was intentionally developed to have the longest lasting built-in battery vaping device ever made. The Li-Ion battery can be recharged hundreds of times with virtually no loss of charge (700+ charges might take the cell from 100% to 99% charged, lasting one helluva long time).

With 8000mAh powering a maximum of 160W output, you can see that when using SMOK’s most powerful V8-Baby Coil, the V8 Baby T8 Coil Head, with a resistance of 0.15-ohm, and a wattage range of 50-110W (optimal of 60-80W), the combination of the V-Fin and the Big Baby Prince pretty much guarantees enough battery life to last the heaviest Vaper all day and into the night, with ease. If this turns out to be the case, then the V-Fin may be the first 160W internal battery device that can be a Vaper’s primary Mod.

The previous internal battery device made by SMOK that I believed is an excellent package is the SMOK G150 TC Starter Kit. Offering up 4500mAh, along with the SMOK TFV8 Big Baby Sub-Ohm Vape Tank, this elegant solution made a great secondary vaping kit for myself. However, I never did consider it to be a primary device. 4500mAh is nothing to sneeze at, but with the Big Baby Tank equipped with the 0.15ohm V8 Baby-T8 Octuplet Coil Head, I never got more than 6-7 hours of moderate vaping. The V-Fin is nearly twice that.

The SMOK V-FIN 160W Box Mod has a gorgeous body, a very 2018+ modern design for comfort and made with a Zinc Alloy shell. The smart accent lines sweeping across and down along the chassis give the V-Fin a familiar SMOK design, but a step or two into the future. Unfortunately, this modern design aesthetic takes a hint from the H-PRIV and uses a top-mounted display… a display that is monochromatic, not color. A step backward here, or is this a deliberate attempt to achieve a futuristic and retro body at the same time? Or maybe just another way to shave off some energy requirements?

Like several other SMOK Mods, the V-FIN has a big side panel firing bar that makes for a clean and easy firing. Lastly, the V-Fin is powered by SMOK’s newest intelligent chipset, allowing not only for the SMOK V-FIN to power up to 160W, but also a wide range of output adjustments such as Memory Mode, Atomizer Recognition, and all the rest of the safety protections listed below in the Specs.

The fact that there is a TFV12 Big Baby Prince should not come as a surprise to anyone. This is how SMOK operates. SMOK did the very thing with when the TFV8 Cloud Beast came about. After the Cloud Beast came the Baby Beast, then came the Big Baby Beast… it’s SMOK MO.

Because of the physical size of the Big Baby Prince, SMOK could have chosen to go with the original Prince Coils as replacements coils, but instead followed the same play as the Baby Beast to Big Baby Beast. The Big Baby Prince will use the Baby Prince coils, which are the V8 Baby coils. Who knows? The Big Baby Beast is the one tank most SMOK Sub-Ohm Tank owners favor anyway, so the Big Baby Prince could very well end up being the favorite Prince.

Still, the TFV12 Big Baby Prince Vape Tankis still the perfect companion for the new V-Fin.With its maximum capacity of 6 milliliters, the new button-lock hinged top-fill system, as well as dual bottom airflow slots, and the utilization of the TFV8 Baby Coil System, even the overall diameter of 28mm, the new Prince looks proportionally perfect atop the V-Fin body.

Whenever I hear that a new device coming our way is equipped with an internal battery there is a slight disappointment in my head. I immediately decide that no matter how good it is, or how great it looks, it will never be my primary device, and I’ll wind up discouraging other from making it their primary device. Having to recharge the device in the middle of the day simply sucks. This time out, I’m not thinking that way.

The SMOK V-Fin is recharged via a USB cable and port on the body. If the battery life is 12-16 hours, which I strongly believe it will be, then the V-Fin will sit on my nightstand, plugged into my USB Hub so that each morning I’ll begin the day with a fully charged Mod.

We’re hoping for great performance for battery life, and superb performance of this new Prince tank. From holding one in my hand, to looking at the razor-sharp OLED display, and the super responsive fire panel, we’re expecting the V-Fin Kit to be a huge success for SMOK. Give us a week or two to put it through the paces and in return we’ll tell you exactly what you can expect.
