Vapers, especially new vapers, worry about having a “bad trip” as they try out new eLiquids, higher nicotine levels, or just over-vaping. The fear is real; sometimes you can feel a little sick, dizzy, or get a headache. While these symptoms rarely last long, they can be unpleasant. Luckily, there are simple ways to mitigate the unpleasantness, and we’re here to share seven of them with you.

7 Ways to End a Bad Trip

1. Stop Vaping Immediately!

This is probably the most obvious way to end a bad trip, but often it’s overlooked by new vapers. When you start to feel the onset of a bad trip, the very first thing you should do is put your PV (Personal Vaporizer) down. Do not take another hit, do not try to “vape through it”. Just put your device down and wait 15-20 minutes. Most of the time, the unpleasantness will pass in that time.

2. Water, Water, Water

Dehydration can cause all kinds of problems, including headaches, dizziness, and nausea. While you’re likely still drinking plenty of water, it’s always a good idea to drink a little more, just to be sure. Instead of sugary sodas, which can have an adverse effect, try clear juices, or even better, just plain water. It will definitely help you feel better.

3. Get Some Fresh Air

There’s nothing quite like fresh air to clear your head. If you’re feeling a bit dizzy, nauseous, or disoriented, step outside for a few minutes. Walk around, take some deep breaths, and let the fresh air revitalize you. It can make a significant difference in how quickly you recover.

4. Change Your eLiquid (or Nicotine Level)

If you suspect that your current eLiquid or nicotine level is the culprit behind your discomfort, it’s wise to switch it up. Try an eLiquid you’re familiar with, something that has never caused you problems before. If you were using a high nicotine level, try a lower one for a while. Sometimes, a simple change is all it takes to get back on track.

5. Eat Something!

Similar to dehydration, low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) can cause many of the same symptoms as a bad vaping trip. A quick fix is to eat something, especially something with a bit of sugar or carbohydrates. A piece of fruit, a granola bar, or even a small sandwich can help stabilize your blood sugar and make you feel much better very quickly.

6. Take a Nap or Go to Bed

Sleep is a powerful healer for many minor ailments, and a bad vaping trip is no exception. If you’ve tried the other methods and still aren’t feeling right after 30 minutes or so, consider taking a nap. Sometimes all your body needs is a little rest to recalibrate and shake off the unpleasant sensations.

7. Take a Hot Bath/Shower

A hot bath or shower can be incredibly relaxing and therapeutic. The warm water can help soothe headaches, relax tense muscles, and generally clear your head. It’s a great way to wind down and allow your body to reset, especially if you’re feeling generally uneasy or overstimulated.
