Just a few months ago, we dove deep into the original HorizonTech Arco tank, and were really impressed by the unique flax paper coil/juice flow delivery system. While it might not have been the “be -all, end-all” of vape flavor, the long-lasting coils and smooth vape quality made the Arco a mainstay in our rotations since it launched. Well, HorizonTech feels there was still work to do, as they’ve released the 25mm HorizonTech Arco 2 (formally called the Arco II) hot on the heels of its predecessor, and we’re excited to see how the flax paper concept has evolved. HorizonTech is claiming that the improved coils heat up more efficiently, and maintain flavor and integrity with longer pulls, due to the higher burn point of flax.
This 5.0mL capacity tank has the same, easy-to-use top-fill design, and a slightly modified look that makes it easier to gauge your liquid levels while vaping; the attractive but too-dark glass section was a rare negative mark on the original Arco’s score.
What hasn’t changed is the Arco’s high-quality, vacuum-plated glass finish and paint quality. The original looked and performed like a high-end accessory, and the Arco 2 appears to be no different.
In an interesting turn, the company is also claiming the Arco 2 coils will actually taste BETTER over time, with a steady, consistent break-in period that allows the flax paper to really shine. We’re all used to coil break-in time, but we’ve never seen a company make this claim before. We’ll keep a close eye on how the Arco 2 coils vape out of the box, to see if time and use make things more flavorful.
Plus, the coils have also improved upon the e-liquid delivery through a new triple-layer construction that is purported to improve both flavor and durability. The original Arco coils gave me a steady 2-2.5 weeks of top-tier vaping, so this is a fairly bold claim – and one we’d be thrilled to prove true.
And, with new SS316 coils available for the Arco 2, top-tier temperature control is what HorizonTech is promising … and what we’re expecting, to be quite honest.
Perhaps the best aspect of the original Arco coils was how frugal they were with e-liquid consumption. Whereas most of today’s high-power tanks have no problem blowing through juice, the Arco allowed each puff to get maximum flavor, without utilizing milliliter after milliliter of liquid in each puff. More than anything else, we’d like to see HorizonTech continue this trend of thriftiness and efficiency.
As a nice touch, the Arco 2 is also fully compatible with original Arco coils, which will be welcome by people like me, who ordered a ton of the originals as soon as I took my first puff.
We will report back within the next week or so to let you know if the HorizonTech Arco II tank is another unnecessary sequel, or a true evolution of a unique, high-performing concept.
